For the past 7 seasons, sucksters have basically heckled Paula nonstop, making fun of her mistakes, her countless botched predictions (i.e. saying Justin Guarini would make people forget Justin Timberlake), her drug use, saying she's utterly useless, and calling for her immediate firing. You can't have it both ways. If she doesn't come back, it means the producers will have finally done something right (although I totally agree that Kara is no improvement). But most sucksters are such iconoclasts that they don't have the guts to admit this. Somebody should at least have enough honesty to admit that most of the people here have wanted her gone for a long time.

Nothing disingenuous. Paula is mildly retarded and dopey, and a producer puppet when she's not being fired, but still, even with all that, she's the second best judge out of the four. We heckle Paula and make fun of her, but she's more entertaining than Randy or Kara, and that's all it really comes down to.

If they were replacing her with, say, Whitney Houston, then I think there'd be a lot less Paula supporters because Whitney's even crazier than Paula. But we all know that if they fire Paula they are essentially replacing her with Kara, and that's what makes so many people want to back Paula staying.

You don't replace something bad with something worse. Especially when we've at least gotten used to and tolerate the bad, like a crazy drunken aunt you used to hate and not want at your family reunions but now find to be an entertaining mess that you consider part of the family and defend her presence at the reunion.

This is going down to the wire - filming starts in 3 days, August 6, and they still haven't announced a deal with Abdul.

I heard somewhere recently some show insider say that Paula will be back though, unless things just completely fall through. How true that is, I don't know.
