I'll give you a hint. He was supposed to play a piano face off with your fave Idol.

Oh, oh Scott McIntyre. Yeah he totally lost the rigged hat picks. That said he wasn't that good anyway so it hardly mattered. The judges were overly soft
on him too with their comments. So on the one hand you could say he got screwed but on the other hand they were pretty nice to him.

The pimping makes the judges feel important, like their opinions matters and they're handing now grand pronouncements of talents.
Okay, I'm calling the top 10 as this: Philip Jeanine Brandon Janette Kayla Kupono Evan Randi Melissa Ade or Jason Basically, Caitlin's fucked. |

So despite the fact that I was just railing against Nigel's stupidity and pimping I hope Uncle Nigel saves Caitlin next week if she's bottom 3.

admittedly, this is only my second season watching, but last year I watched all the auditions. this time I had to work up my strength to not wretch at Mary
& Nigel, so I didn't start in until the performance shows. makes a world of difference. all this talk about people "not living up to their
potentials" seemed so odd to me. then I realized my lack of expectations was from skipping the audition process. thus, comments about them praising
Randi for being adequate while knocking Evan for not being brilliant enough suddenly make a lot more sense. doesn't make them any less wrong, but
at least now I understand where they're coming from.
anyway, I really prefer judging them purely on their performances each night and not preconceived expectations I'd formed prior to that. with that said, I'll be the first to admit that the beauty of Evan's ass would skew my judgement no matter what else I'd seen or not seen. |

What was Mia wearing tonight? She looked like a fucking extra from the Flintstones Movie.

I think that his partner is also a great dancer and they well deserved the praise, even though some may call it over pimping, I don't mind as long as the couple danced great. On the other hand Phillip and his partner, Evan and his, and Ade and his partner were all boring and had many mistakes in their routines, yet the judges over pimped them. That pissed me off especially the over pimping of Phillip, because you just know they are trying to keep him for the tour. |

cginspace wrote: Wow. That's so esoteric, but I think I get your point. However, I also think it comes down to taste and what one looks for in dance. To me, my favorite thing to see in dance is character and story expressed in movement. If I don't get the characters or the story connecting to me, it's hard to appreciate the movement, especially in an intellectual, "meta" way like you describe. I want a more visceral, emotive response. |

I like the story more, too, usually. This time, however, I just really liked the FEEL of it. And upon viewing a second time, I learned that the story was about
accepting death: Kupono was trying to push Kayla into accepting death, which he was able to do (and she was not). The vampire thing was never expressed by
Sonya, actually. Though if it WAS about vampires... yes, it would have had to be that they BOTH were vampires (as both were dead from Sonya's description).
I may not have seen the character as much as with other dances; but I do with this one... just think it is irrelevant because the technique was really
stunning.

Crap, there goes my eye candy for the season.
Having said that, that was rather predictable. I've been holding it back, but fuck it I'm going to say it: I fucking despise Kayla. Whoever said she was like the female version of Will was dead on, as I couldn't stand his overrated, overpraised ass either. As soon as I heard Mia say she and KuPoono weren't going anywhere, they could've just taken a dump on stage (which they practically did), and they still would've gone through. Meanwhile Karla and Vitolio could've given the best solos ever on the show and they would've been sent home. At least those two went out on fairly high notes. As for the blonde bleached alien, since she's the teacher's pet, she isn't going anywhere next week, even if she hits the bottom three again, I can only hope she gets eliminated at the top 10. At this point, I'm rooting for the other blonde to go farther than her although I can't stand her weepy ass either. Although I liked Karla for shallow reasons, I actually enjoyed her as a dancer, although it looks like I'm the only one who did. Anyway, I thought she was better than Caitlin, Randi, and the granny ballerina at least. Oh well, I guess I can turn my attention to Jeanine now. She's been solid, even when Phillip sucked, and she seems to have a good personality. However, I want to see what she can do with another partner. As for the guys, to me the most intriguing one is Ade, but I want to see something where he is the focus instead of deferring to Melissa. |

Kayla and Melissa are the best dancers of the girls in my opinion. Their technique is so amazing and I think that it was fortunate that Kayla is now dancing
with Kupono, who seems to complement her way better than Max. As for Ade and Melissa, I think that Melissa was great last night, but that dance was made for
Melissa..Ade had hardly any part in the dance which made it one of my lase favorite. I don't think Ade is that great of a dancer, he is just lucky to have
a strong dance partner.
Brandon is the best dancer of the guys, but I think that this whole Brandon doesn't have training in any other dances is a bunch of bull. I've always thought the whole story about some of the judges not liking Brandon was so staged during the audition rounds. Evan is also another one that had a big story line going into this competition and I don't think he is as strong as many of the other male dancers, but he has had that unfair advantage from the beginng. It really makes me laugh when I read how people say they can't stand Kayla "because the judges are overpraising her". That is her fault "why"? I just tune the judges out and vote on what I see on my screen, and all I can say is that Kayla is one beautiful dancer!

That wasn't cool introducing that new black guy tonight and then kicking him off. He should have been able to dance every week like all the others.

Brandon CLEARLY has training in other styles. As do most all Contemporary dancers. This show does a good job of introducing dance to the public; however, the
also take advantage of the naivete of the general public. I would be willing to bet that ALL of these dancers have had training outside their genre. I would be
shocked if ANY of the Contempo dancers had ONLY studied Contempo (generally they study Jazz and Hip Hop, at the very least).
