Carrie has never had a song go below #2 on country. Randy Travis got lucky that Carrie wanted to include his song on her album because he is last decade's news.

The fact is ITYS was seriously dying on country radio. Stalled right outside the top 10 when they replaced Carrie's solo song with her duet with Randy and it started moving up the charts again. It was pretty shady to say the least and the speed with which it fell was very telling at how artifical that #1 really was IMO.

I agree the fall of ITYS was pretty speedy, but IMO the song could've reached #1 without Randy anyway.... honestly, he didn't make the song any better, and she's already a bigger name than he ever was.

That would be my fault. When I was new they kept referring to you by this 4 letter word in caps and I didn't pay to much attention. Half the time you were under a different name so the 4 letters didn't really make much sense. For some reason I had OGRE as in the fairytale giant that feeds on humans or the alternate meaning of a dreaded person stuck in my mind.

I never did take the time to learn the real 4. OGRE you are to me. Sorry. Don't mean any offense by it

Sorry dic, that sure doesn't sound like Carrie's a bigger name than he ever was to me. It sounds like Randy was a pretty big name in his heyday too.

Those numbers don't prove anything? Randy was NEVER more popular and famous than Carrie has been for the past five years. Carrie along with one other artist (Nickelback) has the biggest selling album in the past five years.

Back when Randy's albums were being released, there were still albums going 20x platinum. His highest is 5x platinum, with only one other going triple platinum. The others have all been mild hits or complete flops... his 25 million is with 29 albums. I'm not saying he's not a success, but he never had as much fame as Carrie has. Randy's best selling album peaked at #19 on the billboard charts... that's his highest peak with his next at 31. That's pretty bad IMO. Carrie has had a #1 and a #2 and will probably get another #1 this year.

Sure, Randy's had a more successful lifetime career than Carrie has. An extra 20 years will give you a few more #1s and Grammys but I have no doubt that Carrie will surpass him in everything eventually. I said that she's a BIGGER NAME than he ever was, not that she's sold more.

If she is going to do a cover on her next cd this should definitely be the song. Who knew Alone could sound so good as a country song? It could be a hit on country for her for sure.

I would love that, and it would be cool if she added a bridge to the song, spicing it up a bit, but didn't Carrie say no covers on her next album?

I don't see what MPC is trying to say. I definitely did my research if you can see lol wikipedia is so helpful

well, it's someones video camera in the audience so surely the acoustics are bad. I mean we need to hear the sound processed by a proper mic than someones camera.

i didn't hear any 'tin' can sound on the grammys or the peoples choice awards or the last time she was on the Opry. It's a crappy mic so of course it's going to not get the proper sound. If that was the feed from the mic in her hand I'd agree but it's just whatever the sound it got from someone in the audience....hardly how to judge the vocals
