How many non-winners were signed by Sony? I can only think of Rex at the moment but maybe there are a few more I'm forgetting. I would imagine Jacob
turned them down back in the day.
Noticed that Gary Beals' album debuted at #5 on the Halifax charts but didn't even make the top 200 on the national charts. Not exactly surprising I guess but still I think he's much improved from his CI days and from what I've heard and read of it the CD is pretty decent. Wish him well. In other CI news, Tara is working on a second CD and is supposed to be 'satisfied' with the sales of her first album (make of that what you will) and for the Nancy fans she will be appearing in a Toronto based musical in late July / early August which might be worth checking out. |

The post above and this one are Theo performing songs from his new CD at the EZ Rock Up Close and Personal I attended earlier this month. |

Jet Jaga wrote:alol Surprised that he even made a second album but not surprised that he didnt make the top 200 charts. It's been like what, six years since his first album? No one knows who he is anymore (except those in Halifax and their East Coast pride). He's simply a footnote in CI history. |

I'm surprised Nova Scotia even still remembers Gary. I guess they have nothing else to do though, especially in this economy.
What musical will Nancy be in Jet Jaga? I would definitely get tickets if I was even remotely interested in it. |

I'm surprised Nova Scotia even still remembers Gary. To be fair, he gave up music for quite a while and returned to a normal life according to this article, so it's probably something of a compliment that he is still remembered at all. At least he hasn't embarassed himself since idol. There are worse CI contestants to rag on imho. The musical Nancy is in is called 'Bare,' check out her website for further info. Haven't had some Nancy love on here for a while so... |

Someone posted this on TWoP From her Management company's twitter of a couple days ago CRJ's Tug of War single went gold for digital sales.Yay Carly!! If you can't sell albums the next best thing is selling singles. That's really good for a CI'er. |

Of all CIers to see (and I haven't seen any of them live/in person), Crappy Rae perhaps will be my first. Grrrrrr.
Well it could be worse.......... (Blah-ian.... Craigina.... Mark Gay..... Theo.... ugh....) |

All of the ones I've seen have been great except for Bixbitch who unfortunately had to tag along on Brian and Carly Rae's tour.
Let's see, Theresa, Hedley, Jason, Eva, Carly Rae, Brian (x3) were all awesome. |

Here's some more (good) CI news, Melissa joined the Toronto based group God Made Me Funky , which is a band that features a lot of different musicians collaborating together, fairly
recently as a lead singer. She will be featured on their 4th CD which comes out on July 14. Next best thing to having a complete Melissa album I would
imagine, so check that out. CI folks and bands are usually a good mix (Hedley, K and R, LLF etc. etc.)
Also, here's a recent video of Melissa singing 'The One That Got Away' by Pink, uploaded by a friend or something. It's nice to see Melissa again, been a long time. Maybe she'll eventually be the one that got away for SBMG. Melissaownage... |

Lazy Lovers made another jump up the Mediabase chart this week, going from #10 to #7 on the AC Canada airplay chart, again with increased plays. It also moved up the Top 100 for radio airplay in Canada, going from #91 (where it debuted last week) to #87. That's the chart for all singles in Canada, not just AC ones. Theo also posted a new message on his website yesterday.
First of all, I gotta say that I am so glad that summer is here. I love the outdoors and I've had some time to enjoy them the past couple weeks and it's been amazing! I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am. The promotional tour has been going really well. A big thank you to everyone who came out to the shows. This really is the first run for me in terms of performing songs from the record so it's been pretty exciting AND a little nerve wracking haha. Sometimes you never know how people are going to respond to a song... It was so cool to meet even more of you face to face. It's so interesting to hear how people are relating to the music, and I love being able to perform live, it's my favorite thing! Being back in Alberta last month was really nice. I always love being out west and I LOVE the mountains. I had some time to start writing a few new songs- and it's such a good feeling. Ever since the release of the record, I haven't really had the chance to sit down with my thoughts and put a pen to some paper so it was a great release to finally do so. Maybe you'll get a chance to hear some of the new tunes on the tour! I can't wait to hit the road. We were originally going to hit the road in August- but we decided to go a bit later and make it a September tour. It's so exciting. The band is almost finalized and everyone is so talented- rehearsals start soon and they're going to be a blast. I love the sound of some of the tunes done live- an interesting new flavour! The Much Music Video Awards were a pretty crazy party!! It is so insane on the redcarpet but this one was especially so. The energy was electrifying and the show was so great! (minus the drama that enfolded lol) I didn't get to meet Kelly Clarkson though- one day maybe. Hahaha! Talk Soon,

And it has moved up the Nielsen Soundscan Top 100 Singles (radio airplay) chartyet again this
week, going from #87 to #80.
BTW, here is a clip of Theo being presented with a birthday cake (he turns 24 on Sunday) as the audience sings "Happy Birthday"to him at last night's Up Close and Personal in St. Catharines. It was another great show, and we got treated to an additional surprise when Theo performed "No Woman No Cry" thanks to the hostess of the evening (an EZ Rock DJ) mentioning several times that she fell in love with him when he performed that song on the show. It wasfun hearing him sing it with just his keyboard as accompaniment. |
