I was not all that impressed by Randi and Evan. As the show was closing I started thinking of last season. I think there were bigger personalities for sure
last year.

mick, mick, mick...Philip wasn't on point. He was ok, but no way in hell should he still be on stage. He isn't good enough. Sorry

Didn't really like the evening.
I definately agree that Karla/Jonathan, Asuka/Vitolio, and Jason/Caitlin NEED to be the B3. They were the worst ones. Jonathan, if he is B3, is toast, and the girl could be any of the three, depending on solos. I would prefer Karla/Caitlin to leave over Asuka, because I'm not over her. I might have been had that routine been preformed on a week where everyone does well, but a lot of people had problems. Anyway, here's how I felt; Karla/Jonathan: Awful; the worst of a bad evening. Jon's hip-hop was even worse than Caitlin's last week, and Karla wasn't bad, but she should have been better, although I blame the lack of synchronization entirely on Jonathan. Choreography was week, too. Asuka/Vitolio: Mandy needs to lay off the 80s: it's getting old. Also, aside from the lack of synchronization in certain parts, I felt that even if they were in sync, it would have still been bad because of other factors, like the choreography being weird. Remember when Asuka just stood there and kinda waved her hips around: she did it fine, but it was awkward for her to just stop all her movement and do that. Also, I'm not quite sure Vitolio is a great partner in that he seems to have trouble lifting someone as tiny as Asuka. But I did like her meltdown in the rehearsal. It shows they do have a connection, and Asuka is not heartless. Ade/Melissa: In the grand scheme of things, it was one of the better routines, but it annoyed me that the judges didn't mention how shaky and sloppy some parts were. For instance, when they showed the replay of the move that Mary was talking about, they showed the end of that move as well, and it was anything but smooth. It seemed like every time they tried to finish one of those big moves in the rumba, everything would fall apart right as they were coming out of it. Another thing that annoyed me was the camera work, because sometimes you could tell from the upper body that the footwork and the stability was not all there, but you couldn't really see it because you couldn't see their feet. Not great, but not terrible. I wish we could see them do a fast dance. I didn't like their jazz last week (more the choreography than the dancing), and they were still safe, so they should be fine. Brandon/Janette: one of the "best" of the night. I liked the idea, and the preformance, but it did bug me that it looked like they were dancing to two different styles. I know they were meant to look different, but I can't shake the feeling that it was a bit of a cop-out by the choreographer, as in he saw that the two types of hip-hop they were each good at looked nothing alike, and instead of forcing one of them to adapt, he just made a story explaining it all. That might sound petty, but it just made the sections where they were in unison look odd. Also, Brandon has quite a few moments of no dancing. It's like she was doing less than him, but she danced the entire time, where as he didn't dance the whole time, but when he did, he really had to do a lot. Kupono/Kayla: I feel that shoeless walltzes for contemporary dancers is a really lazy move on the part of the choreographers. I didn't appreciate it with Kherington/Twitch, and I don't like it now. There was not a lot of viennese waltz in there. Also, I'm surprise the judges went gaga over Kayla because I don't think she was that great. I might have been my imagination, but her posture seemed to go away a few times, and she almost lost her balance when Kupono spun her around with her leg up. Also, some lifts from Kupono looked heavy and clunky (he really needs to work on upper-body strength). That being said, it had some pretty moments, and was not bad, but no way in hell should it have been anywhere near that damn train. Evan/Randi: I found it sad that more time was spent in heels during a contemporary/jazz routine than in a viennese waltz. Personally I really liked this dance, but my big problem is that this couple is not being challenged. I mean, first week is jazz, and now a very jazzy contemporary routine? Please. At this point, Evan has not proven himself in other styles because his jive was not good. Randy was decent at the jive, and her bashfulness this evening was charming. Was anyone else laughing when Nigel said "It didn't have a great idea like a door, or a bed, or a dead father," because all I could think was that those were awful ideas. The reason this dances worked is because it was about the dancing more than some gimmicky concept. Randy's ass could have been a gimmick, but luckily it wasn't. But Evan's outfit sucked, and he seemed have both an ass and foot fetish at one point. I half expected him to smell the inside of her shoe after he grabbed it. Caitlin/Jason: At first I thought: this is going to be a mess. Then, when it started with that strong lift and the powerful (though overused and cliched) music, I was like "this might not be so bad." Then when they actually starting dancing paso doble, it just fell apart, especially from Caitlin. She just looked like a complete mess, and was not putting on a great preformance. I felt that judges touched upon Jason's flaws nicely, but they could have gone worse, and they should have torn Caitlin apart. Phillip/Jeanine: I must admit, it was a pleasent surprise. Phillip was not that bad, and Jeanine is impressing me more and more each week. At this rate, I might actually care if she left. Tyce is messed up for choosing that song, considering it's sung by two men, and it's so situation specific. Oh, and Phillip needs to work on his ability to rip a pillow to shreds. I mean, Jeanine was just thrashing hers about, and Phillip looked like he was lightly and precisely pulling small handfuls out of his to toss in the air. Not bad as far as Tyce broadway goes. Anyway, Nigel's taunting with Jonathan Karla better not backfire; I wish the judges wouldn't pull crap like that. They should know it backfires a lot. God, that was a long (and negative) review, but I am really in a bad mood this evening, and this show (which had FAR too much filler) did not help; 2 hours for seven routines is too much. I will always defend the top 18/ top 20 preformance shows, but I think this is one of the worst top 16 shows ever done on the show. Maybe I'll change my mind when I've had a good night's rest... |

Karla would probably leave. Jason and Caitlin's performance was pretty good, I thought. I didn't like their costume. |

That was just flat out cruel to put a little bitty man in a great big suit. It took away from the routine, imo. Other than that, I'm not sure how I felt
about it.
I liked the barefoot waltz that wasn't really a waltz and I enjoyed Phillip and Jeanine. Brandon and Janette were okay too. I thought Mandy Moore's routine was borderline embarrassing w/ the song choice/choreography/costume combo. I'm not enamored of Asuko and Vitolio anyway, but I'm not sure how much to blame them for that. This season is still really lacking for me so far, and again I'm not sure who or what is to blame. The only thing I'm relatively sure of is that Melissa is sexy. |

Evan performed a Mia Michaels' routine? Obviously, Evan is the chosen one to win.

I'm power voting for Jonathan. Save the twink, save the show.

Evan's costume sucked if for no other reason than obscuring that fine, fine ass of his. And total agreeance on the double entrende of not believing
he's a motorhead.

Okay, people. I just watched the Viennese Waltz, and was expecting it to be bad. It was actually lovely, with one real flaw that I saw (and it was actually
Kayla's flub... Kupono had to drag her a bit). I actually liked her elegance, though. I think the fact that she is pimped is getting in the way for some of
y'all... too much so.

I liked the waltz too, but I have to step off the Kopono love train now. I simply can't handle a male that queeny. If he didn't talk or move, he'd
be so great. Perhaps I have some self-loathing issues to work out, and that's fine, but he makes me so uncomfortable I want to crawl inside myself.

I liked the flow of the waltz by Vit/Ask last week much better than Kayla and Kup-oh-no. But I realized it was alot to do with the speed of this choreography.
Brandon and Janette are by far my favorite couple, they have done everything perfectly.

Kupono is SO much nicer to watch than Jonathan, sorry to say. Jonathan just drives me bonky.
Dare I say this? Just saw the Evan and Randy number. HATED it. Evan's uh... height/weight proportions are distracting as it is; and adding layers of clothing made it even worse. The moves were ok, but nothing exciting. Randy was scads better than EVan, but I find her incredibly uneven. That was the third worst I have seen so far tonight. Odd, since I am usually a huge fan of She Who Shall Not Be Named. |

Evan trips me out. From some angles, his face is very attractive. From some angles, it's Corky from Life Goes On.
I can't get a grasp on it. However, despite hating Mia, I loved the dance. |

Loved the waltz, as imperfect as it may have been. I'm not a Kayla worshipper but I like her and Kupono together.
I love Evan and Randi, but I was distracted by the dance itself. I fucking hate Mia Michaels's routines. All of them. That's my bad taste, I guess, but she's so obnoxious, and yes gimmicky. |
