At work or at home, the silent treatment is the stupidest thing anyone can do. It makes it impossible to resolve any problems. It can't make things better
and almost always makes it work.

So three weeks ago, I told someone that I supervise that they need to speed up their work and they should also read some quarterly publications to be better versed on the industry. Since then, that person has improved their work speed by roughly 3 percent by mainly by avoiding interacting with others. They have also gone from business attire to casual Friday attire everyday, leaving the complex for most breaks/lunches and departing promptly at 5 PM. You seem really micro-managy especially to the point to where you're watching how often they go to lunch/check out every day. Why not just care about their work output? It also sounds like you think that they should appreciate whatever the fuck they job they have. I don't know what they do, but some people just don't give a fuck. Once their in that mode, they're already looking and waiting until you get rid of them for their severence package. Getting rid of someone who clearly isn't happy to be there is doing you both a favor. Cut the cord. How many people in 5 years have "turned it around" after you've talked to them? If more people are behaving that way than actually turn it around, the problem is likely your delivery. |

Were the slacking employees posting from work?

They do it because they're immature assholes who can't deal with constructive criticism. Look for and find a reason to fire them immediately.

I'm also confused as to how this classifies as the silent treatment. Is this employee forcing everyone not to talk to them? The silent treatment is when
you ask someone a question and they don't respond/ignore you, not when someone doesn't interact with their coworkers in a social manner.

How simple do you Sucksters need it?
Employee does substandard work, and gets repeated feedback to improve the situation. When no improvement occurs, supervisor confronts employee, and tells them to get with the program. Employee goes into silent mode, makes noticeable changes to their usual routine that it's obvious they are avoiding contact with everybody and still not improving. Supervisor wonders why an employee would make it easy to fire them, especially when there aren't other jobs out there right now. This isn't a mico-management issue, it's a productivity issue. Of course, all of you passive-aggressive fucks will deny this and continue to accuse me of something that absolves you of any accountability. |

How simple do you Sucksters need it? How simple do you want it? JUST FIRE HIS ASS. Do you really need and/or care what his motivation is? Not everyone cares about their job. Some are young, some are irresponsible, some can't take criticism, some just hate their boss. Haven't you ever had a job you didn't give a shit about? For whatever reason, he just doesn't care anymore. It's not all about you. |

I don't know what you peeps are talking about with this generation that has never been criticised thing. It must be kids younger than me --> I received more than my share of criticism. AND when I worked for THE MAN, I was actually a great employee, but I was incredibly bored and turned off by everyone else's apathy. Coupled with an insatiable curiousity, I ended up getting my shit done in the morning and constructing eraser people and those paper things that tell your future in the afternoon. No one cared. It's the setup --> that's what has to change. AND silent mode is how I operate in the normal world with the Normies. You people really shouldn't feel insulted. Things really are better off that way. |

If you fire him, I bet he'll come back and gun you down! It's typical behaviour with these passive-aggressive types. I'd be wary.
Oh, and by the frickin' way: why the fuck do you keep referring to "they" and "them"? Why can't you just reveal this person's gender?!!! It's a woman, isn't it? She's giving you the silent treatment 'cause you fucked her, huh? |
