That's a cheap shot. Those ARE his own thoughts on the subject. Mia, in fact, never said that. I don't see it the same, but cg has every right to voice
that opinion...

ACtually, when Mia spoke I somewhat agreed with her. It was a tad bit ridiculous to say that she despises everything he stands for, yet I saw the shot of his
solo with the cheesy grin and saw why she thought he was fake. And on the flip side of me being called a Mia flunky, I feel many here have taken Brandon under
their wing EVEN MORE, just because mean mean Mia put Widdle Bwandon down. There. I can be immature, too! See?
I think I have written this before, but many of us who like contemporary and interpretive dance get a little too excited with our "keep it real" mantra. I admit that. The jaunty air is expected in ballroom, but in many other forms, to us, it takes the air out of the routine. I admit my bias towards more weighty forms of dance. Pretentious? Sure. It's what I like, though. I CAN understand Mia's POV, because she sees dance as expression, I think, as much as she sees it as performance/entertainment. Funny how I can't agree with Mia Michaels and yet still have my own take on it, tmaxx. Thanks ever so much for setting me... ahem.. straight.

I don't recall Mia ever specifically mentioning the smile or using the word "fake". I assumed that he had done something personal to her at some
point (taken a cookie she was about to reach for, or something) and this was her revenge. She never once gave any kind of specific, DANCE-RELATED explanation
for her antipathy. It is her JOB to do so...
If she thinks he is fake (or showy or whatever), then why didn't she tear apart Benji or a dozen other dancers in the past who have danced that way? |

I would say that Phillip is the one who truly does not deserve to be there, btw. Kupono was no worse than he was last week.PC just has a fan base.

Kupono didn't have to show a solo last week, though. That's what made him look bad. His pairs dance wasn't great (I'll disagree and say his
Wade dance the week before WAS pretty great), but his solo was terrible!
Philip was mediocre week one and embarrassingly awful week two, but he hasn't shown a solo in the competition. I'm guessing a Philip solo would be MUCH better than that turd Kupono dropped on Thursday... |

I am just shocked that Kupono gets all the hate. People want to blame the judges isntead of putting blame where it belongs: on the voters. Phillip should not
have escaped B3 last week.

Yeah, the chances of a Philip solo getting him kicked off are between slim and none. Maaaaybe if he's in the bottom every single week, but that's not
going to be happening.

There is no stand out like Mark this year, for sure, or Katee. They are all fairly competent, which makes for a good AND bad season. Later in the running, it
will be awesome. As for now, it is hard to distinguish.

The odd thing is I see the judges' point this year. They were upfront with their reasoning the first week, and I got it and appreciated that they did not,
as in the past, try to say they were judging strictly on performance. So when they said Kupono went through because of his ability to inhabit a character, I
completely saw why he was in over Max. Max is competent enough, but not intriguing... to me, anyway. As for Pono's solo... it was a hit and a miss for me.
PArts of it were really captivating.. yet he deflated somewhere in it.
