Gayboy maadx showing his childish behavior once more. What's the matter, the older kelbots not letting you play with them anymore?

It's a really good album, and it's legs will probably get even letter with the success of YBWM.
Wonder when Carrie's first single of her third era is gonna be released! |

Carrie will probably sell 600,000-650,000 her first week. The low end might be 400,000.

Matt310 wrote: I think a good ballpark figure of 500,000 would be decent for her. She's had two very sucessful back to back albums and has had a tray of #1 singles and does the country thing which sells and she is coming out in the 4th quarter for holiday sales. I think from 400,000 up to 600,000 is fair for her. Perhaps 600-650 is stretching it but I can see her definitely matching her CR first week number again, especially with a smash first single. |

Agreeance, Miki. Carnival Ride sold 527K first week with (IMO) one of its worst songs as the lead single. If Carrie starts this era out with a kickass song,
who knows how high she'll go?

If Carrie starts this era out with a kickass song, who knows how high she'll go?very high. I'll be hella majorly shocked if she pulls anything lower than 400,000 for the first week. She is tapping into lots of good markets like taylor's base and country and idol fans, she's not marketed to the fickle pop genre (Perry Go.dess Gaga, etc...) that move onto the next thing quickly. |

Dictatorship wrote:But, she was also coming off one of the biggest pop and country songs of late 2006/early 2007: "Before He Cheats." Carrie didn't have a song as ubiquitous this time that got heavy rotation on pop (I've heard "Last Name" every once in a while, but nothing like "Before He Cheats"). I think the longevity of "Before He Cheats" helped propel sales for Some Hearts and early sales of Carnival Ride. Hopefully, she'll come out with a great first single, but I'm not convinced she'll reach the first week height of Carnival Ride. But, that's just me. I just hope the music is good; sales aren't as important to me as long as I like what I'm hearing. |

live taylor can really suck though, that's a fact. But when her peers also love them some Miley and Anus Brothers it does not matter
She could record a wet fart right now and sell 3 million copies, lol |

Dictatorship wrote: Carrie followed a strict formula with her first two cd's. The problem was that the songs on C.R. that were suppose to be equal to the song it represented from S.H. just wasn't strong enough. That is the main reason why she fell so short in total sales. She came out before the big repression and had plenty of months before it hit to equal C.R.'s sales. So small was suppose to be the jesus take the wheel of the C.R. era and cross over to huge success on christian radio. It sucked in comparison and christian radio wasn't interested. Last name was suppose to be the before he cheats of the C.R. era and big her big pop smash and take her past 5 million in sales. It didn't catch on with pop radio though. It was a poor grade D version of bhc. They abandoned the pure pop song on C.R. since the song some hearts was only a moderate hit on adult contemporary radio and didn't do what it was intended to do. She did pull out a new ace in the hole with just a dream trying to capatilize on the war like so many country stars before her. It was the one fresh song (for her) and without it she may have been lucky to hit 2 million. That and the rerelease were what took her to 2.8 million. With the next cd expect another christian type song to lead it off and another bhc ripoff. She may rely on another war song since it worked well for her this time. I think some remixes will be the ace in the hole this time with atleast two of her songs remixed for pop. They are going to want to try and reclaim her title from Taylor and will follow her lead in an attempt to do it. I also wouldn't be suprised at another rerelease come christmas 2010. They aren't going to let her sink to 2 million or less cd's and this is their way of doing it. Some hearts was a great cd. Instead of trying to copy it so closely Carrie should just go back to finding great songs like she did on Some hearts. I still listen to Some hearts quite regularly and would enjoy having a new carrie cd to listen to. Kelly won me back, carrie could too. |

quickstart wrote: Very wrong. CR didn't sell as much as SH because it DIDN'T follow the same forumla. The yelbots would like to think so and compare each single to the previous album's. CR was very much more country oriented and those that favored the pop side of the album didn't buy the countrified one. Case in point, Taylor has to remix her singles with a pop beat to cross over. Carrie's intention was never to cross over intentionaly, instead relying on the merit of the single to do that on it's own as in BHC. Just because LN has a growl to it didn't mean it was trying to copy BHC. The kelbots wanted to pidgeon hole CR. The fact that not one of the singles off CR was played on pop much was because CR is a country album, not a hybrid like the debut. Carrie always has respect for the old sound of country music and even included an iconic cover of Randy Travis ITYS on it. Why??? Why not a new one? It's because Carrie doesn't think that way of "having to fit" in the pop genre. Country is her love and her music will remain in country. What she does like is making music that is radio friendly, and easly to listen to. Whether the pop stations pick it up is not a priority. Her music is just well written and sung with either the soft gentle touch for ballads or her well known powerhouse voice for the kick ass ones. Making a comparison between CR and SH or charting her music in pop is futile. Continue on kelbots...............

I thought MPC would like this:
Fantasia on Carrie: It's time for the obligatory American Idol question. Who's your favorite-of all the seasons? I remember this: I was in L.A., I went out to eat with Simon Fuller (Idol's executive producer), we all sat down, and I said, "Carrie Underwood is the one." She has the voice of an angel and she's different for Idol-she was the first country singer that did American Idol. I love her. She has a beautiful voice. She used to come to my shows. She would come, faithfully, sit right in the front row. She would come to the back and say, "I want some soul. I want that." I said, "All I'll tell you is you just go in there and give it your all." Now when I watch her-on the Grammys, I was sitting in the front row, and she came out and did [Sings] "Don't even know my last name." When I saw that act -excuse my language, I said, "OK, b***h. You got your soul now." http://www.frontierspublishing.com/2803/features/feat_4.html |

And Some Hearts vs. Carnival Ride... I agree that "Jesus Take the Wheel" = "So Small" and "Before He Cheats" = "Last Name." However, there is an inherent difference between the two albums. Some Hearts seems like a mix of pop and country whereas Carnival Ride steers more closely toward country. While, I like the country sound more and hope Carrie continues with that direction, I feel as though the songs were not as collectively as strong as Some Hearts. Most of my favorite Carrie songs are on Some Hearts ("Wasted," "Jesus, Take the Wheel," "The Night Before (Life Goes On)," "Before He Cheats," "Starts with Goodbye," "I Just Can't Live a Lie," "That's Where It Is" and "I Ain't in Checotah Anymore"). On the other hand, my favorites are fewer on Carnival Ride ("Flat on the Floor," "All-American Girl," "Just a Dream," "Get Out of This Town" and "Wheel of the World"). |

Jordin, Kellie and Carrie all see sales increases
Last week's CMT Music Awards probably helped Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood, both of whom saw increases for their album and track sales. In fact, Kellie's Best Days of Your Life broke the 500,000 mark.
Jordin Sparks, Battlefield (Main Version) (55,000, +41 percent, 241,000 total)
Carrie Underwood, Carnival Ride (10,000, +2 percent, 2.90 million total/210,000 digital total)
