And to think we almost invaded this country. I can't believe your plan (I think it was yours) to expose them to Britney Spears and American Debauchery and anal sex actually worked! |

got this from a friend on FB:
For you Twitter people.. set your location to Tehran and your time zone to GMT +3.30. Security forces are hunting for bloggers using location/timezone searches. The more people at this location, the more of a logjam it creates for forces trying to shut Iranians' access to the internet down. Cut-n-paste & pass it on. |

Sooo pathetic--all these armchair freedom fighters in USA using green font and "tweeting"
Do you have A N Y idea what these protestors want? No, you don't. Do you really believe they are "just like us"??? No, they arent. That Mir dude is a religious zealot and bigot. Duh. If he gets elected (he won't), he will find it easier to get nukes than Achmenijibjab. Trust me. I wish I knew how to translate "sad.grim.pathetic" into Swiss, cuz you=that. |

oh god not that meme again. twitter is anonymous! if some random tweeter says "there's a procession in iran" it doesn't really help identify
them.
plus most iranians are using proxies. |

I love their fashion sense. Where do they get their clothes?
Oh, and not only are the nose jobs free - so are the sex changes. |

I don't know. My father sent me a link to a story saying that their is proof that the election results were seriously rigged. Amadehjian supposedly came in
last place or something. I haven't really had a chance to talk to him though. He was on vacation last time we talked so I don't think he knew much of
what was going on. I'll call him again tomorrow and see if he has been in touch with any of our relatives in Iran.

also, wtf was up with khamenei taking up for David Koresh and the Branch Davidians in his ranch today? Janet Reno totally made up for that by appearing in an
SNL Janet Reno dance party sketch.
btw, I wish I owned a green fabric store in Tehran.

Sadly, fake Bart is right, these people are protesting over something that barely matters.
A rough analogy would be if the Christian right controlled the Presidency, the Judiciary and the Senate, but as a bone allowed people to vote for House of Representative members (but only after every candidate had first been approved by the Senate). The mullahs in charge are not going to willingly give up any of their power, and it doesn't matter how many people protest. |

Free, clean elections barely matter? Free speech barely matters? Freedom of assembly barely matters? Freedom from political and social repression barely
matters?
Damn I'm glad I'm not that cynical. Of course the mullahs in charge are not going to willingly give up any of their power, but then neither did the racists who opposed the civil rights movement yet people protesting made a difference there. Yeah the odds are against these protesters but regardless of what happens in Iran, the result will more than barely matter. Either Iran is going to wind up more repressive, more hostile to the world and more hellbent on getting nukes under Khamenei and Ahmadinejad as they do whatever they can to cling ever more fiercely and tightly to power or the people will wind up removing them and put themselves on a possible path toward more openness and peace with the rest of the world. |
