Even when I was a child, I wouldn't listen to my parents because frankly, KIDS JUST WANT TO NOT LISTEN TO THEIR PARENTS. Can that even be classified as a hit? Puhleese, Jon was smacked way worse than that swat. Sometimes kids learn physically when they refuse to do so mentally. I just hate it when people give Kate hell for the wrong reasons. Hate her for the right reasons.

I have no problem with a parent spanking their child. It's called discipline, and if the situation deems the parent to have to resort to spanking in order to teach their child a lesson and not have them disobey anymore, then it's perfectly fine. As someone who was spanked, I learned quickly when I got a smack on the behind to not do what I did earlier that warranted the spank.

She could just remove the offending toy from the kid if her phone call is so important or go inside. I mean shit, that's not worth spanking over. Maybe all of the publicity stress has started getting to Kate perhaps? I see your point in that spanking didn't have to be used in that situation. It could have been handled different. I just took what has been said previously in the thread was, "OMG, spanking's bad, you can't EVER hit your kid!!!!11"

Time outs work just fine with my kids, and I found that when I spanked, it was out of anger and frustration, not the desire to discipline. I don't disagree with spanking...to each their own. I would never presume to tell someone else how to raise their kids. It's not my business. Unless there's actual abuse going on. Then I would have no problem stepping in, alerting the authorities, whatever. I'll tell you one thing though....my mother spanked me with a wooden spoon as a kid. Not often, and only when I truly deserved some kind of punishment, but I'm in my thirties now and I still remember how fucked up it was to get wacked with a wooden spoon. It hurt like hell, and I never forgot it. I'm pretty sure that it cured my ass instantly of whatever misbehaviour I was engaged in. Anyway, Kate's a twat, regardless of whether or not she spanks. Stay focused, people!

And most people don't want to watch Emeril chop and peel shit for an hour. Those 2 episodes were as boring as fuck. The best episodes are just the kids being themselves - cute, funny, saying things that make you laugh. I'm so tired of the staged episodes with the crossover shows or other pseudo-celebrities. Just tape them being a family (with 1 parent or both) and you'll have a better show.

I"m one of those who used to watch this show on a regular basis, but watching Kate and John's marriage distruct on national t.v. and the way the kids are being exploited, I refuse to watch another episode. It has gotten so that you can't even turn the t.v. on or pick up a magazine without seeing or hearing about John & Kate. I think more and more people are just sick of the whole thing and like me, don't want to be a part of their 3 ring circus and give them the satisifaction of increased ratings.
