First, they should not be "confused" to see two people kissing unless they had previously been taught that there was something wrong with that. Second, would you be OK with it if two heteros started "making out in front of them"? I don't know about you, but I rarely see people just "swapping tonsils" completely out in the middle of just anywhere, and when I do, it's ALWAYS heterosexuals (whom I've seen make out in shopping malls, etc. I've never seen gay people do that and I have more gay friends than straight). I agree with you that the act of "making out" is tasteless to do in front of anyone, adult or child, but I disagree that it would "confuse" a child any more than a man + woman would. As I recall from being that age, the predominant response to any kissing, especially tongue-swapping, when you're a kid is "EWWWWW!"
