Kris didn't get the award because they didn't choose to give it to him. Maybe it's because Adam has a better pulicist, maybe it's because Kris is boring as plain toast, maybe both, but in the long run, who really cares? Kris is singing at Disneyworld and the NBA Finals. Adam is on the cover of Rolling Stone. Kris is singing Kara's abortion of a song and actually selling a few singles. Adam's Best of Season 8 Album is still on iTunes top 100. They are both apparently marketable. |

Trying to be 100% objective and using my head not heart, gut and looking at the BB 200 and Top 40 charts, I'd put prospects of success for signed ones S8:
1)Allison 2)Kris d)Adam.
Top 40 music is dominated by females and teens have been selling tons of albums lately. So combine the two and you get Allison, Kris's type of music is also popular. I think Gaga dance music is Adam's best bet but no guy is selling in that market. With all the media coverage, there really isn't a huge boost for Adam on iTunes. His album is doing better than the single but iTunes sells relatively few albums so that's around 3K or so weekly. Official number will come out in a week. That's total sales because iTunes is the only place you can get his stuff. That's okay but not jumping up and down stuff. And he's getting plenty of promo.

Allison's only single on the Itunes top 100 chart the last month or so was slow ride with Lambert. Based on that alone, I can't see how you are putting her in the number one spot based on sales. Did you even look at the charts? |

I don't care about her S8 sales. I'm talking about her upcoming original music. She is getting heavy hitter support/producers. The same people who work
with Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Britney and Katy Perry are working with her. Her music will get played on the radio. No one will care in six months about her
iTunes sales. Just like no one cares now that Jordin Sparks had the worst selling coronation single of all time.Because Jordin is on the verge of her fourth
huge POP hit.
I don't like Allison as much as Jordin but I'm looking at this objectively. |

frautardz wrote: you don't care about Allison's S8 sales but you use Adam's S8 sales as a gauge on how well he'll do in the future? that makes perfect sense LOL.... I think Allison does have the best shot at mainstream overall success because she is young, female and has the sound that is pretty popular with teens/tweens. Adam has top notch producers and writers wanting to work with him as well so Allison isn't the only one with a shot. I actually think Kris has the most uphill climb of the three of them because there's nothing really distinct or different about him. He could be any one of the already popular singer/songwriters guys out there right now. He's kind of dull and boring and other than winning American Idol he's got nothing note worthy to talk about. |

Well, Adam is getting megapublicity these days. So that always translates to increased sales. And he probably has the biggest fan base from S8. So I just think
his iTunes sales are underwhelming. But I get your point. I think Allison's iTunes sales are pretty bad BUT when you look at the Top 40 chart you see that
it is dominated by females. The only men on the chart are people doing hip hop like Pitbull or Jamie Foxx. There are some rock bands as well but no male artist
doing pop/electronic music appears on the Top 40 chart. Ditto for album sales. So Adam's best hope is going the Lady Gaga route. And that may work but
there in no successful male artist doing that genre of music.
I actually like Allison the least of the S8 signed Idols but I just think she is the most marketable. Isn't that the title of this thread? Kris is a wild card. He could be another Carrie or just completely disappear because he's so BORING. |

Itunes sales really has little bearing on how well their original songs are going to sell. If Allison is able to put together a catchy song that gets a lot of
play, people will buy it. The same goes for Adam and Kris. The biggest mistake people make with marketability is looking at the person rather than the songs.
Songs are what sell, nobody really cares about how interesting or unique the person singing them is.

frautardz wrote: I see what you're saying but in that megapublicity blitz no one is reminding people to go buy his itunes songs/albums. It's more about establishing him as an artist outside the AI bubble IMO but yes, I'd say Adam has the biggest fanbase out of all the S8 contestants and that should help him tremendously. I don't think Adam will get boxed into the Lady GaGa niche although I think that would be HOT. It's a good point that there aren't any male artists doing that right now so that could work to adam's advantage instead of being a negative. Perhaps people WANT a guy who can bring that vibe, especially one who sings like Adam, looks like Adam and basically just exudes confidence and sex without batting a guylinered lash LOL.. As for Allison, I'm not so sure that right now "pop/rock" females are where it's at. Pink has stuggled to reach even a million in sales with her latest album and a look at Kelly's latest numbers indicates that the market for female empowerment rock isn't really the same as it was in 05/06 when she ruled not only the airwaves but the sales charts. My fear for Allison is that they will attempt to market her as a Disney type artist and stick her with Diana DeGarmo style pop songs and she'll end up failing miserably. Kris has no shot at achieving Carrie like success, sorry he just doesn't. |

Adam is apparently marketable- I've tried like 10 different stores, and every one of them sold out of Adam's Rolling Stone as soon as they came in.
