His first comment of "I hope this doesn't get me into trouble again".....he WANTS to get into trouble. He stays in the headlines. Adam was right about that. He could give a shit if it gets him into trouble, or else he wouldn't say anything about it.

The LA entertainment world IS full of people with rotting insides, but I don't think that was the smartest thing to say if you are trying to break into the business.

After season 2 Clay couldn't wait to write a book about his family and out his relatives to the public as his "sperm donor" or his abusers all while faking his own persona and lying about being gay. He didn't respect his own family's privacy so why should anyone care about his privacy as a gay man? The guy sold his family out for money and he sold and used his baby as a shield when he finally came out. The Prop 8 blog is clearly an attempt to turn the conversation away from sticking his giant foot in his giant mouth again. If it wasn't clear he was an asshole and a media whore before, it should be now.

When he made top 13, the pictures of him kissing another man came out and the media asked him about it and he basically said the same thing about the pictures as he did about Bill -o "whatever" so no, I wouldn't say Adam is a hypocrite. But I wouldn't say Clay is either insomuch as it's absolutely no one's business in the first place and neither he nor Adam owe anyone an answer. He's not doing it five years later and with his baby on the cover of People. I've seen several people opine that the reason he didn't do it right after the show ended was out of respect for Kris and so Kris could be the focus in the media. So much of the media was already focused on Adam losing can you imagine if he'd have also made a public statement about his sexual preference? I honestly believe if Adam had won we'd have gotten a statement that same night... Hell, we might've even gotten a pic of him kissing his hot boyfriend Drake (damn...another reason to be bummed he lost). and finally to bring it back to Clay's blog I applaud Clay for speaking up and vocing his opinion. and like him, I hope one day ALL people have the right to get married and be miserable

He is rumored to do it on the cover of Rolling Stone soon, that will take the current limelight away from Kris. Clay did it in his own time. He had to tell his family first. And whether you like his music or not is up to you. I think he has a great voice. He answered the question intelligently and I believe not to gain any attention. This was on his fansite. This is what he firmly believes and good for him. Love is love no matter what if it between two guys, a guy and a girl or two girls. And marriage should be available to all.

He knew his fanbase would freak if he was honest about it. He was absolutely right. They did. I once got suspended for writing a post that even pointed out that it was impossible for him to prove he was not gay, even if he got married. The level of denial was aggressively overwhelming. My guess is that at some point, Clay realized he just wasn't ever going to have a private life with any genuine love and affection in it unless he came out. Clay has burned many bridges. He has said "f you" to both AI and the LA music scene, and neither is very forgiving. He whined his way through Spamalot and was a difficult diva, so casting him there again won't be easy. And because he openly denied being gay and even tried to intimate that he noticed women and pursued them, most in the LGBT community have no use for him. Adam was very out in LA, in contrast, before the show and I've not heard any bad comments from those politically active with either the LGBT community or the anti-Prop 8 coalitions. In fact, he has been pretty warmly embraced here in LA. His Rolling Stone article is going to say that AI is a singing/entertainment contest and one's sexuality, religion or political views shouldn't factor into voting and that he didn't want to speak on non-music issues while on the show. But he was never in the closet.

(Or at least he shouldn't be) We mean to be criticizing the idiot who started this thread who think that anyone should care for what Clay has to share on the topic. (For the aformentioned reasons) Someone on his board asked he answered, it was (presumably) private for a reason. I don't think Clay wants to speak for the gay community and the gay community certainly doesn't want Clay as a spokesperson.

That "statement" was made on his official fan club message board, which is private unless people pay to be a member (which is stupid, but I suppose keeps out some of the people who hate him). It's not like he put out some press release or something. Anyway, about a month ago, he started a thread where anyone could ask anything they wanted (within reason) and he would try to read them all and answer some of them. Some are silly, some are about his career, some are about completely random things. He's answered boatloads of them about all sorts of different things. It's where he originally made the statements about Adam, which he then copied over to his blog, for some insane reason. The Prop 8 statement was in answer to one of his fan's questions in that thread about his thoughts on it. It's not the first "political" question he's answered there. Does he guess that some of the stuff he puts there might get picked up by lurkers who feed it to the media? Sure. He's not an idiot, but at least he's being open and honest with his fans now. But really, do we need another Clay thread? (I love seaguy and his whip too.)

Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Of course any thread about Clay turns into a fan war - again, but I am glad this is posted here and I do hope that it gets wider press (even though I can't imagine why anyone other than PH would pick it up). I think any time anyone makes a coherent statement about gay rights that can sound measured and reasonable, it can't hurt public opinion. And that is where this issue will be decided, not in the courts of law, but the court of public opinion. Equality will happen in time, but it can't hurt to nudge it (or delicately shove it) along. I know people on this board loathe the man, but the general public is not as hysterical about him, pro or con, so what could his statement possibly hurt if it gets wider coverage?
