He just doesn't have any real promotion, which is a shame. This CD truly is a big step above previous Idol CDs and is a very impressive debut CD for a young artist. (As you know, I absolutely LOVE it!) But how can people know about it if they aren't told?? And to tie in those last two subjects, here's part of what Mark Day had to say in his interview...which is pretty much similar to what I just said above. Mark: But Theo has a CD out, and I'm home in Newfoundland, so I think he did really well without that autograph. Male: He did, but for some reason, the Canadian Idol winners release CDs and then disappear. I don't get that because normally they are actually kind of interesting as opposed to the American Idol winners, but I don't know what's up with that. Mark: Well, I'll tell you my take on it. Theo's CD came out a week ago this past Tuesday, and I went out to buy it at Future Shop, which is a store here. They never had any in stock. Wal-Mart had only three copies, and they weren't on the New Release wall I went over to HMV, and while HMV had it advertised on the website, it wasn't even on the New Release wall. It was down in the racks, and I had to search for Theo Tams' name. I bought the CD, obviously, and I love it. I think it's a really great CD, and it will stand the test of time. If people listen to it, they WILL come to love it, but there's no promotion. No-one even knows that his CD came out. Female: That's right. Mark: The thing is, it's at a bit of a standstill now because of the economy and maybe the label doesn't have that much money to promote it, but I can tell everyone. I know I was on the show with Theo, but his CD is REALLY good. You should go support him. Male: It's not the economy. Idol just sucks at promoting stuff. Female: That's what it is. Male: They do it for American Idol too. Everone that puts out their album, they get excited if the album sells right away, they're excited, then they start promoting it a little bit. But it's the same thing on American Idol. They just release it, and if it does well, great. If not, they don't really care. They just move on to the next person. It's kind of sad. Mark: Exactly. Male: Yeah, they really don't foster a lot of artist development from anybody from Idol on both sides of the border. Male: Yeah, because I kind of like Theo's voice. I think it would be kind of fun just to get his album, but if will probably be his only album, which is sad. It's like that sucks. Female: From that label anyway. Male: Well, from that label, yeah. Female: Who signed him? Mark: Sony BMG is where the winner gets signed, but we all sign a contract at the start of Top Ten, and it ended up becoming Theo's contract because he won. Seems unreal really. I'm not dissing Theo, times are certainly different now. To be honest I would definitely rank Theo as one of the 6 best CI winners, certainly the best since Brian ;) As for the CIs in AI. I guess it depends if we are basing this on the CIs entering AI at the present moment or at the time their season aired (for instance Melissa might have done really well if she was on AI before season 6, as in many ways she was Jordin before there was a Jordin (actually better in many ways imho), but if she were to be on AI now she might be deemed too similar to miss Sparks and probably couldn't win. Likewise Tara is viewed as a Carrie clone but if she had been on AIs 1-3 Carrie might have been viewed as a Tara clone...). To be honest I couldn't see many of the CIs doing well on AI. Could you imagine people like Jenny, Mitch or Earl on AI? CI "is what it is" as Zack would say.

They don't support their own and it's retarded. Even if SBMG bothered to promote Theo (outside of the crappy 15 second ads on CTV) he still wouldn't sell that many because people suck.

X I stand by the theory that if this show had the cultrual impact as AI does in its country, the show wouldn't have been "put on hold", money problems or not.

Miki is right, if Canadians were as hardcore about CI as Americans obviously are about AI there would be no problems. The CI fans were hardcore but it was a very small group of hardcore fans. AI has a massive amount of hardcore tards will buy the CDs and sell out the tours etc.

The video doesn't look cheap (see Damned) either which is good. I like, it's nice and I love the song. Carly Rae Jepsen = true star of CI5. Reminds me to request "Bucket" on Virgin tomorrow since they'll actually play her (sorry Brian, Bixbitch, Whoram, Themo). I'll be sure to throw in an Eva request too. Eva and Carly Rae, the only two KKKanadian Idols popular radio will play (which the occasional bone still thrown to Melissa actually). I think CMT and the New Country 95.3 play Whoram but I don't listen/watch much so I can't say for sure.

Jaydee should be doing well than but I haven't heard anything (not that I've been looking though). I doubt anyone rigged it for the Newfie. It's a show nobody watched anyway except a few random people and the province of NFLD.

It was a train wreck and one day we stumbled upon it and couldn't change the channel, so funny, so bad. NL was disappointed 6 seasons in a row on CI so they set their sites lower and went for the Karaoke Star Jr win, lol. I don't think Country is as popular here as it is in the states but there's certainly a market for it, lots of rural communities/the west are probably down with that shit. CMT has obviously been around for a while so I guess people like it.

Jocelyn <3 The judges sucked on the show, all their critiques were nicey nice and total crap. I guess they had to be nice to them because they're kids but did they have to flat out lie to them.
