It'd just be too complicated. I don't think the actual idea of a fresh start is a bad one. It's the only way to get anyone who's not a hardcore fan into the theater. And if they did this like the Star Trek or Batman reboots, it could be awesome. But they won't. They'll try to do it cheap and rush it to cash in on Twilight. It'll be about Buffy and the mysterious hot guy in her chemistry class, Edgar. He glows in the sun!

At the end of Buffy, dozens of new slayers were unleashed in the world. Why can't this new series just follow a new slayer around, while still be in the Whedonverse (even with no Whedon)? Pippy the Slayer or something.... None of the prior characters need necessarily be used, with the exception of Giles. (Didn't he take over for the council after they were all killed?) I'm not saying I applaud this idea, but it doesnt sound as ridiculous as it first sounded. If she were a comic book character (oh wait, she is...) she would be written by a variety of different authors. It need not be a cheap ripoff. Except, of course, we all know it will be because we all know why they're thinking about it (thank you, Twilight).

They want to reboot the movie, not the TV show, pretty much as if the TV show never existed

If they want vampires there are tons of popular vampire teen novels out there they could do. No reason to ruin buffy. Now if they were to have a new series that would be great, but the original buffy movie was horrid, I can't imagine how they could do a second movie and have it work.

I'm up to season five. What happened with season four? It went from being PG rated fun to being orgasm imagery and sex in every episode. Angel was a total waste of space in season three. Love Angel and the show was great but after he came back he should have left town right away. I think it's the regular extra characters that really make the show. Spike, Anya, Harmony, Dru. They were all best when they were new and on the sidelines (well Anya never got old). And it was when we started seeing too much of them that they got annoying. Even Dawn was entertaining for a while.
