The castaways can then be seen returning back to camp> Charlie - CONFESSIONAL: For Paloma to win Immunity today was huge, not only because she's, like, my Final Two ally, <Paloma is now shown taking off the necklace and hanging it from her torch> but more because it kept Dan from winning, <An unsuspecting Dan is then shown next> so we were really excited, but <long pause> even though I would like to keep my promise and tell Dan that it's gonna be him tonight, uh, it's important that we act kindof like business as usual, you know? <The camera now cuts ahead to show a clip of Charlie and Dan both walking along a jungle path together> Dan: <to Charlie> Exile was like a Reward this time. I had huge meals. <Charlie is shown looking excited, as he asks "Yeah?"> I must have gained, like, five pounds easily… <laughs> Charlie: <to Dan> I did pretty good for myself here. Like, I've definitely adapted and… <The camera then scrolls back over to Dan again> Dan: <to Charlie> I don't have anything to worry about, do I? <Charlie shakes his head> Charlie: <to Dan> No. <Dan can be heard saying "Alright"> It can be Randy or G.C.… <The camera switches angles to show another close-up view of Dan> Dan: <to Charlie> I think it has to be Randy… <Charlie nods his head and says "Okay"> Charlie - CONFESSIONAL: You know, it's been easy to blindside everyone else, but having to lie to Dan over and over again is really hard. <Another view of a confident Dan is shown> I hope I can keep this up until Tribal Council. <The camera abruptly cuts ahead to show a clip of a bird perched on a branch, as another bird lands beside it and starts chirping. The camera then fades out to show both Dan and Randy standing by the fire> Randy: <to Dan> Uh, wanna sit down for a minute? <Dan says "Yeah"> Nobody else is around, right? <Randy sits down on a log and then looks around cautiously> Get this: <short pause> Charlie talked to everybody this morning and he had this whole plan concocted of how to get you out… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows a rapid clip of Charlie, and then shows Dan tensing his expression> Dan: <to Randy> Charlie brought it up? <Randy now nods his head dramatically> Randy: <to Dan> I swear he did. <Dan is shown with a disappointed look on his face> He doesn't think he could beat you in the Final Two, so <long pause> right now, we're all voting you tonight. <Randy is seen looking towards Dan> Dan: <to Randy> G.C. too? <Another close-up view of a contemplative Randy is shown> Randy: <to Dan> Well, here's the thing: <short pause> uh, you don't have to go. <Dan subtly nods> I have ideas. I have a plan. <The camera continues to show Dan> Dan: <to Randy> I don't know what to say… <The camera scrolls back over to Randy> Randy: <to Dan> Think about it, and let me know. <Dan nods his head> It's your life; <short pause> it's your call… <The camera then zooms back in on a distressed Dan> Dan: <to Randy> Should I go talk to Charlie right now? <Randy is then shown again> Randy: <to Dan> Go give him hell… <Dan is now shown standing up and walking towards the hut, as the camera follows him for a few seconds> Dan - CONFESSIONAL: If I'm to believe Randy, then Charlie's been lying to me all along, um, and I'm getting voted off tonight, <The camera fades out to show Charlie sitting in the hut> but <long pause> it's tricky. You can't just trust that, but <pause> Randy could have easily just blindsided me tonight and kept himself in the game, so <long pause> I don't see him making up that lie; I don't see how he benefits from making it up if it's not true… <The camera now abruptly cuts ahead to show Charlie and Dan talking in the African grassland> Dan: <to Charlie> I just have that feeling of doom… <A slightly confused Charlie is now shown shifting his expression, as he continues to look up at Dan> Charlie: <to Dan> What do you mean? <The camera then focuses back in on Dan again> Dan: <to Charlie> Will you tell me the truth if you're voting for me? <Charlie is now shown with an uneasy look on his face> I just want to hear it from you if I'm going tonight. I think we owe that much to each other to tell each other the truth… <A spooky shift in the music occurs, as an uncomfortable Charlie hesitates for a few seconds before responding> Charlie: <to Dan> Like, it's about who I think I can beat in the Final Two and I think I would lose, like, hands down against you. <Dan is now shown looking disappointed> Dan: <to Charlie> I understand why… <The camera then focuses back in on Charlie> Charlie: <to Dan> I've gone over all the possible scenarios in my head and I just can't see, like, how I can get to the Final Two and win against you… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera switches angles to show Dan again> Dan: <to Charlie> Well, you're a better player than me cause I was ready to take you to the end. No word of a lie. <Charlie is shown looking sad> And, I thought I could trust you; <short pause> that's probably my hardest lesson… <Dan is then shown with an overwhelmed look on his face, as he shakes his head disappointedly. Another view of Charlie is shown next> Charlie: <to Dan> It's tough; I know… <The camera continues to focus on Charlie> Charlie - CONFESSIONAL: Seeing the look of betrayal in Dan's eyes was, like, a really difficult moment for me, <Dan is now shown with a distressed look on his face> but <long pause> I'm actually glad that I was able to get it off my chest so that he won't be blindsided and we can just enjoy our last day here together as friends without me having to sneak around behind his back… <The camera returns to a sad-looking Charlie> Charlie: <to Dan> I feel like, in this game, you have to put your friendships aside in order to get to the end. <A somber Dan can be seen nodding his head> I'm sad. <frowns> I don't want this to be the end of our friendship… <The camera then continues to show Dan> Dan: <to Charlie> No. I mean, we'll still grab a beer and hang out after this. <A comforted Charlie now says "Okay"> You know, I'm not gonna hold anything against you. Like, that's not who I am and <pause> if you're in the Final Two, you still have my vote… <Charlie is shown> Charlie - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> You know, Dan accepted it really gracefully, and <pause> I knew he would because he's such a nice guy… <The camera continues to focus on both Charlie and Dan for a few seconds> Charlie: <to Dan> How do you feel? <The camera zooms back in on an emotional Dan> Dan: <to Charlie> I feel okay. A little bit emotional, but <short pause> I mean, fifth place is good. <The camera now zooms in on Dan's face to show his slightly watery eyes> Nothing to cry about… <laughs> <Dan then wipes his eye, as Charlie is then shown again> Charlie: <to Dan> I swear I'm not happy about it. <Dan says "Yeah"> It should be a testament to you because you're such a likable person… <A sad flute-type music now begins to play, as the camera shows a somber Dan reaching out to hug Charlie> Dan: Well, <long pause> I appreciate your honesty… <Dan can now be seen hugging Charlie> Charlie: <to Dan> This is by far the worst day I've had here. <Dan is then shown again> Dan: <to Charlie> You and Paloma have made my experience out here so much better than I thought it could be. <laughs> <Charlie is then heard saying something inaudible> I'm just glad we talked before tonight… <The camera shows Charlie nodding his head> Charlie: <to Dan> Me too… <An emotional Dan is now shown again> Dan: <to Charlie> I mean, I can't do anything about it. I just want to enjoy my last day and come to terms with it, you know? <Dan and Charlie can then be seen beginning to walk back towards the main camp area together, as Dan continues to speak> Dan - CONFESSIONAL: Charlie confirmed everything. You know, every decision and every move I've made in this game, I've made with Charlie, <A close-up view of Charlie is shown again> but <long pause> I don't want to go home, so <short pause> today could be a turning point in this game… <Another sad piano-type music begins to play, as the camera shows a clip of an eagle soaring through the sky, before fading out to show the sunlight reflecting off of the calm lake waters. An emotional Dan is then shown lying down by himself in the hut> Dan: <talking aloud> Just doing a little thinking about stuff and tryin' to get through the day. My last day… <A view of the other four Babongo members gathered around the fire is shown, before the camera zooms in on both Charlie and Paloma> Charlie: <whispering to Paloma> I told Dan… <A surprised Paloma now looks up at Charlie> Paloma: <to Charlie> You did?! <Charlie can be heard saying "Yeah; he was getting suspicious"> Is he okay? <The camera then scrolls back over to Charlie> Charlie: <whispering> I think he's being really good about it… <Dan is now shown again> Dan: <talking aloud> Lotta mixed feelings right now. <Another faraway view of Paloma and Charlie is shown> Part of me thinks that I should vote Charlie; <short pause> the other part of me thinks that I should accept defeat. <The camera now returns to a conflicted Dan> Dan - CONFESSIONAL: My initial reaction when Charlie told me was to lay down my life and let him move forward into the Final Four because he's doing what he's supposed to do. <The camera continues to focus on a sad-looking Dan for a few seconds> I would never have betrayed him, but <pause> Charlie is a master of this game. <Another close-up view of a contemplative Charlie is shown> He knows it front and back, but what kind of a competitor would I be to just go home fifth? <The camera switches angles to show Dan again> Dan: <talking aloud> I don't know what I'm gonna do… <The camera continues to show Dan> Dan - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> You know, I heard it right from Charlie's mouth that he's voting me out; <short pause> that's not just what Randy said, so <long pause> maybe that justifies me writing his name down. <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows Dan with a look of intense thought on his face> I'm gonna have to figure it out… <Another soft, sympathetic music begins to play, as the camera shows Randy joining Dan in the hut> Randy: <to Dan> Have you figured out yet who you're voting for? <Dan then turns his head> Dan: <to Randy> I think I might vote Charlie. <A glaring Randy nods his head dramatically> I gotta give it a try, right? Dan is then shown again> Dan: <to Randy> Why did you tell me this? You could have easily voted me out and just gone to the Final Four with Charlie and Paloma. <The camera now fades out to show Paloma and Charlie> How do you benefit from it? <Another view of Randy is then shown next> Randy: <to Dan> Uh, if Paloma's in the Final Two, I'm probably gonna walk off the set. <Dan is shown looking towards Randy> I mean, I stayed up all last night thinking about this and the only way I'm gonna be able to sleep after this is done is if it's me and you in the Final Two… Dan: <to Randy> This is messing with my mind… <laughs> <Randy is then shown again> Randy: <to Dan> You're the only one who even halfway deserves it, and <short pause> I mean that. <The camera then focuses back in on Randy> I voted for you three times. You know, I've hated your alliance since the merge; <short pause> I've never hated you… <Dan is now shown with a look of disbelief on his face, as he takes a deep breath> Dan: <to Randy> You're killing me right know; you know that? <The camera shows Randy> Randy: <to Dan> You know, you kept me around for something… <Dan is then shown> Randy - CONFESSIONAL: Quite frankly, I don't want to see the other three people left in this game win a million dollars. <A rapid view of Paloma is shown next> Charlie and Paloma can go [censored] themselves; <The camera scrolls back over to Charlie again> G.C., the dude doesn't deserve it, <G.C. is now shown eating a Gabonese pear> so <long pause> Dan would be the only one I'd rather see win, if not me, and <long pause> call me crazy, but I actually think there's a pretty good chance I could beat Dan in the Final Two. I think I have a pretty good shot at him… <The camera continues to focus on both Dan and Randy> Dan: <to Randy> I didn't think Charlie was two-faced, <A side view of Charlie is now shown, as he talks to an off-screen castaway> but I'm starting to wonder if he was like that all along… Dan - CONFESSIONAL: I think the jury would look at me and Charlie and say we've both played our games very similarly, but <long pause> if Randy and I are in the Final Two, the jury would have to vote on a good guy and a bad guy, <Randy is then shown with a devious look on his face> and from what I've seen, good usually wins in the end, so it just seems natural that that would be a great alliance. <laughs> <The camera now shows Dan gazing ahead> Dan: <talking aloud> It's the perfect plan… <Several prominent drumbeats are heard, as the camera shows a snake slithering under the Babongo tribe's flag. Randy can then be heard calling "G.C.," before the camera cuts ahead to show them talking on the wooden dock> Randy: <to G.C.> The best chance for us to go to the end is to break up Charlie and Paloma. <The camera fades out to show Charlie and Paloma again> You said it yourself: <short pause> If Charlie goes, we have us two, Dan, and Paloma. <Another view of both Randy and G.C. is then shown> That gives us more options than having a Charlie-Paloma pair at the end. Randy - CONFESSIONAL: This plan that I've come up with is that Charlie will go home tonight. <A mysterious sound is heard, as the camera fades out to show an unsuspecting Charlie walking in front of the hut> The vote will be 3-2; Charlie will be shocked; <short pause> Paloma will probably curl up and die, <The camera then scrolls over to Paloma> but <long pause> G.C.'s proven himself to be an idiot over and over again. <Another view of G.C. is shown next> I just hope he doesn't prove it again tonight… <The camera returns to Randy> Randy: <to G.C.> Me and Dan are voting for Charlie. <G.C. raises his eyebrows, before the camera abruptly cuts back to Charlie again> You vote Charlie; <short pause> Charlie goes home, and then we go to the Final Three. <G.C. is shown with an uncertain look on his face> G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: We've got another Tribal Council tonight, and for the last three days it's supposed to have been Dan, <Dan can now be seen looking around cautiously> but all of a sudden I hear Charlie's name comin' up… <Both Randy and G.C. are shown talking> G.C.: <to Randy> How is Dan voting for Charlie? <Randy is then shown again> Randy: <to G.C.> Charlie admitted he was voting for Dan… <G.C. is shown with a look of disbelief on his face, as Randy says "We're flipping the game"> G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I thought this guy was supposed to be the Survivor expert. <laughs> <Another close-up view of Charlie is shown> I mean, people'll get themselves voted off, man. You don't have to do nothin'… <laughs> <The camera now cuts ahead to show Dan and Randy furtively talking behind the hut> Dan: <to Randy> Do you think G.C.'s solid? <The camera turns to an unconvinced Randy> Randy: <to Dan> He better be… <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera switches angles again to show a clip of G.C. tending to the fire> G.C. - CONFESSIONAL: The way I see it, if I align myself with Randy and Dan, <The camera now shows a somber Dan grabbing his torch> we could go guaranteed Final Three, <The camera then scrolls over to a confident Charlie> but <short pause> if I get rid of Dan and keep Charlie then I might win a damn Immunity Challenge, <laughs> so I'm, like, fifty-fifty. <An eerie sound is now heard, as an undecided G.C. can be seen grabbing his torch> I don't know what I'm gonna do, man, and <pause> I'm not gonna be sure until Jeff reads the final vote… <There is a haunting tribal chant, as the camera shows a silhouetted view of the five Babongo members walking out of camp. The camera scrolls closer to it, and then cuts ahead to show a side view of the five Babongo members making their way up the long, winding path towards the Tribal Council entrance. A close-up view of Jeff is then shown, as Charlie can be seen walking past him. Paloma is then shown setting her torch down into the slot, before the camera shows all five castaways sitting down on their stumps, and then cuts back to Jeff again> Jeff Probst: We'll now bring in the members of our jury: <Dan can be seen turning his head, as the camera shows the four jury members walking in to the main Tribal Council area> Ace, Kenny, Crystal, <The camera now scrolls across each of the jury members> and Jacquie, <A close-up view of Paloma is shown, before the camera cuts back to Jacquie> voted out at the last Tribal Council. <G.C. is then shown staring ahead, before the camera shows Jacquie sitting down on the jury benches and then abruptly goes back to Jeff> Jeff Probst: Alright; <short pause> at the Reward Challenge, you were all playing for a truck and the opportunity to deliver school supplies to a Gabonese school. <A wide view of all five Babongo members is shown next> G.C. wins the challenge and chooses Paloma to go with him. <Paloma can now be seen smiling and nodding her head> G.C., tell me about the Reward… <The camera then scrolls over to G.C.> G.C.: You know, I love the truck, <laughs> but <pause> the actual part of the Reward was definitely an incredible feeling. <A view of Crystal is now shown, as she smiles> You know, I felt very privileged to be able to help out all those kids, and <short pause> it almost made me cry, to be honest, but I can't do that. <laughs> <The camera then turns to Charlie, G.C., and Paloma> I mean, I never thought in a million years that I would even feel that way, so it was pretty incredible, man… <Another view of Jeff is shown again> Jeff Probst: Charlie, <short pause> with only five people left, was there a mad scramble when you got back from the challenge today? <Charlie can now be seen shaking his head> Charlie: Not at all. Actually, while Dan was away on Exile, the four of us left had all discussed voting for Dan, <An eerie sound is heard, as Ken raises his eyebrows> and I think when Dan got back, he could sense that I was maybe a little more distant with him <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows Randy looking up> because we've literally discussed, like, every single decision and calculated every single move that we've made in this game together. <Paloma is then shown with a thoughtful look on her face> So, <long pause> he actually asked me about whether he was going tonight and I gave him his wish because, you know, we trust each other and he didn't want to be blindsided, <The camera turns back to Charlie> so <pause> it's gonna be Dan tonight and there was really no reason for anyone to scramble… <Another prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows the surprised jury members exchanging glances and then goes back to Jeff> Jeff Probst: Charlie, why Dan now, <Dan is now shown staring ahead> after all the other times you could have voted for him? <The camera now returns to Charlie> Charlie: At this point, it's an individual game and it's based on who the biggest threat is. <G.C. is then shown listening intently> You know, Dan's the biggest threat for all of us. <The camera now shows Dan again> There's no way around it to get to the end, go up against him, and then lose, <Another view of Charlie is shown next> so <long pause> it's a really hard thing to say but I know, like, I have to do it… <The camera now turns back to Jeff> Jeff Probst: So Dan, <long pause> naturally I'm comin' to you next… <Dan is then shown> Dan: Um, I think you have to remember that this is a game and you can't take anything personally. <Charlie can be heard saying "It's not personal at all"> Taking me out is Charlie's best move because I'm a stronger physical player, <Crystal is now shown with a tense look on her face> so I have to give Charlie credit. <Dan is shown again> Um, you can look at it as a big disappointment; that's one way; or you can look at it as an honor that they don't want to go up against you and that they respect you enough to tell you. <Jeff is shown with an unconvinced look on his face, as he says "Okay"> A lot of the people on the jury didn't get that same respect… <A prominent sound is heard, before the camera shows rapid clips of the four jury members, and then cuts back to Jeff> Jeff Probst: Dan, <Jeff pauses, as the camera focuses back in on Dan> do you think Charlie's telling you he's voting you out so that when you're on the jury you'll vote for him if he makes it to the Final Two, <There is a prominent sound, as the camera shows an interested Charlie turning towards Dan> and not vote out of anger for being betrayed? <Dan is now shown> Dan: No. I think he's doing it as my friend. <Ace can then be seen shifting his expression> He doesn't want me to come to Tribal Council and get blindsided. <Charlie now nods> That was what I asked him… <The camera now scrolls back over to Jeff again> Jeff Probst: <to Dan> Well, let me ask you this: <short pause> do you think you're too nice to win this game? <Dan is now shown looking up> Cause what I'm hearing tonight you seem like you're letting these guys walk all over you… <A surprised Dan is now shown widening his eyes, before the camera shows the jury members exchanging glances> Dan: Um, Day One, maybe, but <pause> no, I don't think I'm too nice to win the game. <A wide view of all five Babongo members is then shown next> I think I've made some smart moves when I had to and cut a few people loose. <Jacquie can be seen nodding her head> I just feel like I've done it in a nice way, but that doesn't take away from the strategy behind it… <The camera shows Charlie with a pensive look on his face, and then goes back to Jeff again> Jeff Probst: Charlie, <Jeff takes a long pause, as the camera scrolls across the castaways> the downside to telling somebody you're voting them out is that you open a doorway for them to scramble; <pause> to turn things around… <Charlie can now be seen nodding his head> Charlie: I totally see that, but <pause> you know, I'm actually really glad that we both came to terms with the vote tonight and I think we have a mutual understanding that we're still gonna be friends after this. <The camera shows Dan nodding his head, and then cuts back to Charlie> Like, I don't think he would turn around and go against me… <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows Jeff looking slightly puzzled> Jeff Probst: <to Charlie> Why not?! That's what you just did to him! <The camera shows Ace with a sly smirk on his face, and then returns to Charlie again> Charlie: Well, <long pause> he even said to me today that that's why I'm a better Survivor player because he was willing to take me to the Final Two and I wasn't, <Dan can be seen nodding his head dramatically> so… <The camera then cuts back to Jeff> Jeff Probst: So Dan, <short pause> if we vote tonight and it's four votes for Dan, you're okay with it? <Another view of an expressionless Dan is shown next> Dan: I would definitely like to stay and move further in the game, but <long pause> if 36 days is it, I'm okay with that. <Charlie is shown with a contemplative look on his face> You know, I respect the game and I respect Charlie as my competitor… <Jeff is then shown again> Jeff Probst: What about you, Charlie? <The camera now focuses back in on Charlie for a few seconds> For somebody who's such a big fan of the game, is 36 days enough of an experience, or is it "You know what, Jeff? It's not good enough?" <A wide view of the entire Babongo tribe is now shown, as Charlie shakes his head> Charlie: No. I definitely didn't come on Survivor to get fifth place. <Dan now shifts his expression> You know, as clichéd as it sounds, I'm here 100% to win, but <long pause> I'm definitely really fortunate to have made some great friendships that will last me a lifetime <A view of Paloma is now shown> regardless of the results of this game… <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows an annoyed Ken making a gagging face and an amused Randy smirks. The camera then returns back to Jeff again> Jeff Probst: Obviously there's been a lot of talk tonight about Charlie and Dan. <The camera shows another close-up view of an expressionless Dan, before turning back to Jeff> Randy, if something else was going on and it was you tonight…? <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera abruptly cuts ahead to show Randy and he interrupts Jeff> Randy: Uh, it's not me… <Jeff is then shown with a slight smirk on his face, as Paloma can be seen raising her eyebrows sharply and another prominent drumbeat is heard> Jeff Probst: <to Randy> Really?! After four consecutive blindsides, you can be that sure it's not you? <Another close-up view of a scowling Randy is then shown> Randy: Uh, it would be the biggest shock so far in this game. <Crystal can be seen raising her eyebrows> You know, if it's me, fifth place, to me, doesn't mean crap, and <pause> in spite of what Dan says, I think all five of us here feel the same way… <The music speeds up and becomes more dramatic, as the camera shows a close-up view of the central fire flickering, and then fades into another view of an uncomfortable Dan. Jeff is now shown again> Jeff Probst: It's time to vote. <Jeff can now be seen pointing towards Paloma> Paloma, you have the individual Immunity necklace. <A close-up view of an immune Paloma is shown> You could give it to somebody else if you want or you can hang onto it… <The camera now continues to focus on Paloma, as she smiles> Paloma: Um, yeah, I think I'm gonna keep it. <laughs> <The camera turns back to Jeff> Jeff Probst: You cannot vote for Paloma. Everybody else is fair game. <Another view of the five Babongo members is shown> Charlie, you're up. <Charlie can be seen standing up and walking past the central fire, before the camera fades out to show the four jury members> <The camera then shows Charlie arriving at the voting confessional and picking up the pen to cast his vote. A close-up view of an uneasy Dan is then shown, as the camera zooms in on him, and then fades out to show Charlie holding up his vote: Dan> Charlie: Dan, there's not a single bad thing I can say about you. <The camera now shows another clip of Dan> To know that I have your friendship even though I have to make this vote is an awesome feeling, and I can't wait to see you outside of the game… <Charlie now places his folded vote into the urn, before the camera fades out to show a side view of Randy, as he makes his way over to the voting confessional. Posts: 4815 (05/27/09 8:40 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Spoiler [+] EPISODE 13 NOTES: Here are a few important notes about Episode 13 and (possibly) future episodes in the story. I encourage you all to read them so that you have a better understanding of what is going on. 1) Well, as I said last time, I'm really hoping that this episode does not fall victim to the "pre-finale" curse. I have to admit that I think this one came out pretty good and I will be surprised if it does get a negative reception. It shouldn't be as boring and predictable as some of my pre-finale episodes (ie. Exile Island and Fiji), and I think there was a lot of great character development for just about everyone. I'm proclaiming this one, along with the China episode, to be my best pre-finale episodes. I know I might get criticized for Charlie all but throwing away a guaranteed Final Three spot, but I think the events that happened were realistic. He couldn't predict what would have happened with Dan and I hope that most of you will be happy with the outcome. Anyway, lots more about this later. I have a lot of notes this week… 1B) I wrote these notes all at different times so I apologize if some of them are disjointed or repeat things from previous notes… 2) I won't waste much time on this Recap. Just a few quick things to point out: (1) Most of Randy's negativity was not included in the recap. However, a lot of the recap focused on him and it was partly to make up for his lack of presence in this episode. (2) The line of Charlie saying to Dan "You knew you weren't going anywhere" had to be put in there to remind you that Charlie was strongly considering getting rid of Dan until Dan won Immunity. It's also important for me to identify Dan as a strong force in challenges. If you look back, he has done very well in just about every physical challenge and he usually ends up in the Top 2 or 3. (3) I think Jacquie's boot was left a little unexplained in the recap, but it was more important to focus on the people remaining. 3) This Night 33 scene was one that could have gone in several different directions. I could have made it more about Randy (for expecting a tie vote and almost getting voted off) or G.C. (for succeeding at the Jacquie vote), but for the story of this episode, it was better to just devote this scene to Charlie and set up his betrayal of Dan right from the beginning. We know from last episode that he's thinking about who he can beat in the Final Two and that he would vote out Dan when he has to, so this is the main story of the episode… 4) Day 34 begins with a confessional from Dan talking about his alliance with Charlie and Charlie's alliance with Paloma. Dan is kindof like the nice, loyal guy who is willing to take his friend to the end, so once again I compare him to JT and Charlie to Stephen because we know Charlie is willing to betray Dan. Dan wants to reconfirm their pact, knowing that Paloma would take Charlie, so this way if either Dan or Charlie won, they would get to the F2. Charlie agrees to this to Dan's face, meanwhile knowing that he's probably going to vote Dan out at Tribal. Then Dan says something important, and yes, it was probably stupid of him to say this in the first place, but it becomes central to everything that goes on. Dan basically says that if Charlie changes his mind he just doesn't want to get blindsided. 5) They then get treemail and read it and it's a Second Chance challenge. Notice that for both sets of treemail Charlie makes a comment identifying what the challenge is and this is supposed to show that he is a big fan and knows all this stuff about the game. Anyway, we then hear from Paloma who talks about her alliance and her prior experience teaching school in Kenya. This confessional basically lets you know that she will be going on the Reward either as the person who wins the challenge or as the invitee. I also gave away a huge spoiler in the Press Conference when I talked about the Africa-related stories and said that part of Paloma's story involving the African school, so if anyone caught that, you knew that she couldn't be voted off until this was mentioned in the story, and since it wasn't brought up until now, she had to be safe. I don't think anyone really picked up on it though or at least it wasn't posted about… 6) Onto the Reward Challenge. I always liked the idea of the second chance challenge even though I haven't used it a lot, and I would like it to be in the real show again. But the truth is it's pretty easy to write and come up with because it uses elements of all previous challenges. I really don't have much to say about it, except that I feel bad that Paloma, the only girl, was eliminated in the first round and didn't even hit a tile. But I made up for it by having her win Immunity. Also, Dan had to be second place in it to once again show him as a strong player in challenges, whether physical or mental. But for story purposes G.C. had to win it. That's about it, I think… 7) Onto G.C.'s choices. The reason he sent Paloma was as much about genuinely wanting her to have that personal experience at the school as it was for strategic purposes. Everyone had known about her going to a school in Kenya before, so it made sense for her to be picked for that, and of course I was going to pick her for it because it fits into her story (in the finale too). G.C. was obviously the other logical choice to have go on this Reward. Yes, you could say it was exactly the same thing as Dreamz in Fiji, but I also think it fits more into G.C.'s story too than it ever did for Dreamz. It provided a great opportunity to give him a lot of great character development and I couldn't pass it up. As for who to send to Exile, it was either going to be Dan or Charlie. Perhaps he should have sent Charlie since Charlie would be less accustomed to surviving out there, but Dan had been twice and he didn't think Dan would take Comfort since he didn't take it the first two times. He should have thought that Dan might follow in his (G.C.'s) own shoes. But another good reason to send Dan is because there was a much higher chance that Randy would be able to flip Charlie against Dan with the two of them back at camp. Had it been Randy and Dan at camp, Dan would definitely NOT have listened to any discussion of betraying Charlie. It was only after he found out Charlie turned on him that this was even an option. 8) This Day 34 scene is once again all about Charlie. I was extremely close to cutting it out in the end just to make the episode a little shorter but I decided to leave it in. Yes, the episodes got a bit too long again towards the end of the season. But in Episode 7 Charlie had a scene about not being outdoorsy so I thought it was important to bring that part of his story to an end by showing that he did learn how to survive on his own out here. ETA: I realize there's a mistake in this scene. When Charlie says "36 days" twice, it should really be 34 days. 9) Even though I personally really, really like this Reward scene, I have a feeling some of you will think it was boring. But I'll say again that it was great for character development and I love G.C.'s character here. I think out of all the characters this season he has been the biggest pleasant surprise for me, because I could have easily just given him the same type of edit as the real show so I'm glad I went in a different direction and I ended up enjoying writing for him. He's kindof a happy-go-lucky guy despite having a hard childhood and I think he has some really insightful things to say about the world here. As much as Paloma was important to the Reward for having a connection to the school, the Reward really was more about G.C. on purpose. He narrated most of it and Paloma just filled in the gaps, but it was definitely more about G.C. One other thing to mention: the "car curse." I didn't mention it at all in the episode because Candice broke the car curse in my All-Stars version, so it doesn't really play a part. G.C. may or may not win in the end, but it will have absolutely nothing to do with him winning the car. If the curse had any importance it would have been brought up in the episode. 10) Much like G.C.'s Exile scene in the last episode, I really like this one. I think it's one of the best scenes of the episode and the character development is great. It should be sad in a way because he reaffirmed his Final Two with Charlie earlier in the episode so he thinks he's totally safe with Charlie, he doesn't need to win Immunity, so he spends two days basically feasting. If you notice, the Comfort level goes up again with Dan getting a huge lobster dinner and then a breakfast in the morning too. He has some personal comments that are meant to sortof tie his story together, and then he gets some significant talk about the Comfort. He did give in to temptation this time and take a disadvantage in the Immunity Challenge so he hopes that by doing this, he does not end up getting voted out of the Garden of Eden. Meanwhile, this is kinda what's going on back at camp because Charlie is plotting against him, and for anyone keeping track of scores in the Immunity Challenge, Dan definitely would have won if he had a third puck, so the disadvantage did cost him Immunity. But as we find out later in the episode, it doesn't cost him the game… 11) This Day 36 scene is perhaps the first moment in the episode where Charlie really screws up, but he just doesn't know it. First of all, he's absolutely right that it's a risk to strategize too much and make these kind of plans BEFORE an Immunity Challenge. He doesn't know if Dan's going to win, and he could have easily said to G.C. or Randy right before Tribal Council to vote out Dan. Telling them too early gave them a chance (well, really just Randy) to come up with an alternate plan. BUT- I also think Charlie had a logical reason for telling them too by saying they could make sure Dan didn't win the challenge. He had no reason to suspect that Randy had other ideas. He expected them to just be happy to last another round, but there was an obvious way that they could switch up the game and Randy saw it. Charlie's comment about needing a big move in order to win might prove to be significant. Unbeknownst to him, probably the biggest move of the game and the biggest flip was taking him out. Randy's confessional before the challenge was definitely meant to foreshadow him turning against Charlie and Paloma in the end. He knows that Charlie and Paloma are the real pair that has to be broken up, and he also feels that he can relate to Dan more than the others. This is why it was important for me to have that "therapy session" a few TCs ago because it became important to the end story. 12) I like the Immunity Challenge. I had only used shuffleboard in Exile Island, so I thought it was time to bring that back but I wanted to do a different take on it so I decided that I should have the board marked into zones with different point values and whoever has the highest score at the end wins. I think this could be how the original shuffleboard is played, so I'm not claiming it to be a brilliant idea or anything. But the reason I like it is because it adds another strategic aspect to the challenge because every single puck becomes important and if you knock somebody else's puck into a different zone it can change things very quickly. So I think it was a good way to switch things up. My concern with this challenge was that it would be too difficult for Jeff to keep track of everyone's scores, but this was surprisingly not a problem at all. Plus I think having the challenge at the Final Five helped too. Anyway, the most significant thing about this challenge is that Charlie was the one who ended up preventing Dan from winning Immunity and it came right down to the last shot. I think of this a little bit like Aras' boot last season in that I needed to have a challenge where people could actually work against Dan, and you saw that a little bit towards the end. Paloma tried to take his second puck out on her last shot and I think Dan was pretty oblivious to it. Those who were paying close attention, though, will have noticed that Randy's intention was to take out Paloma and Charlie, not Dan. And of course we found out why after the challenge… So surprise, surprise Paloma ends up winning. Part of the reason I had her was because, as SFC pointed out, it's unlikely that I would have four guys in the finale so if everyone was assuming Paloma was safe, why not just make her safe so that everyone else was really vulnerable? So after performing pretty bad in every other Immunity Challenge, Paloma finally gets to wear the necklace… 13) This is probably my favorite strategy scene of the entire season. I really like how everything turns around and I think it's all logical and well reasoned-out even though Charlie really screwed up by being honest with Dan. The first few lines are just Charlie repeating that Dan's getting voted off and it's hard to lie to him, blah, blah, blah. Then Randy basically pulls the same stunt that he did with Jacquie and tells Dan that they're all talking about voting him off. This time he's telling the truth though and Randy has a more viable plan in mind, for Dan, G.C., and himself to all vote out Charlie. I'm going to skip ahead a bit and keep talking about Randy… Why does Randy tell Dan about the plan? I think this is, in a lot of ways, pretty similar to Sugar telling Bob not to give up Immunity at the Final Six, but Randy is definitely not just throwing away his game to Dan. In terms of getting to the Final Two, this is better for him. Yes, it's true that the best person for him to go up against would be Paloma but he basically hates her now so that is not going to happen. So having this alliance with Dan gives them a good chance of going to the Final Two, as opposed to having a tie between C/P and R/G at the Final Four if they had voted out Dan. I think this move was very smart of Randy and it's true that he could possibly have a chance of beating Dan in the end. 14) I'll talk about Charlie and Dan now, including something that you didn't see in the episode. When Dan asks Charlie if he's getting voted out, he doesn't ever say that Randy told him, he just says he has a "feeling of doom." Charlie had been feeling bad for three days about lying to Dan, so he decides to just come clean with Dan and tell him that he's going. This was bad, bad, bad!!! And anytime you start bringing things like "he's so nice" or "he deserves to make it to the end," it's only going to hurt your own game. They should have gotten rid of Dan a long time ago because now he's turning into the JT type character even more where everyone loves him (including Randy is starting to think he deserves to be in the F2?!) and it could cost them all. So Charlie tells Dan he's going because this is what Dan asked him to do earlier in the episode. I really like the scenes between Charlie and Dan and if you could see them on TV, I think they'd be nice to watch. They all have the sad musics and it's clearly meant to make Dan very positive and like a fallen hero who is going to accept defeat. As you can see, Dan is initially pretty accepting of being voted out. He takes it well and says that he understands and won't hold anything against Charlie. This was an honest response based on just appreciating that Charlie told him about it so he could enjoy his last day. Dan was definitely sad though and he even got a little teary-eyed even though he tried to laugh it off. Then we have a huge shift. Dan is shown in the shelter by himself, his emotions in turmoil, as he thinks about what he's going to do. He can either graciously accept defeat and take it as an honor that he was this huge threat to everyone or he can try to stay in the game by voting for Charlie. I love the clip of Charlie telling Paloma that he told Dan and Dan is good about it interspliced into the clip of Dan talking about what to do. Here is the part you didn't see: After Charlie told Dan he was voting him off, Dan accepted it but said if you're going to vote me, it's only fair that I write your name down. There's no hard feelings, but if you're voting your biggest threat then I should vote mine. They agreed to this and Charlie was okay with it. So Charlie KNEW that he was getting one vote from Dan, and this is why when the first Charlie vote shows up he doesn't appear alarmed at all. But as he says at Tribal, he didn't expect that Dan would turn things around with Randy and G.C., so Charlie expected a 4-1 vote. Back to the scene, though: Dan says he would have never betrayed Charlie. This is true. He was going to take Charlie to the Final Two, guaranteed. But Randy goes and joins Dan in the hut at a convenient time just to very carefully manipulate him and plant the seed of them voting Charlie. This was Randy's idea all at once but he had to be subtle about it, so he says that they get G.C. with them and then Dan/Randy will go the Final Two. I already explained Randy's reasoning. Dan thinks it's a good idea because the jury will have to vote between a good guy and a bad guy. I think it's a better option for Randy than it is for Dan. Yes, Dan would probably beat anybody as JT would have, but having a good vs. bad means that the votes will likely be split between Fang jurors and Kota jurors voting for their own side. So I'm hoping that most of you will be able to understand Randy's perspective on this. Again, it's a little bit like Sugar's move at F6 but not nearly as horrible for himself as Sugar's move was. He's still playing to win whereas she wasn't. The last part of the scene is Randy trying to convince G.C. to vote out Charlie. There's two reasons Dan didn't talk to G.C.: (1) It would be suspicious and C/P would know he was probably scrambling; (2) Then he'd feel like he was betraying Charlie even more. So Randy was the one who did the negotiating with G.C., and Randy presented a strong case. I also think G.C. has a valid reason for getting rid of both Dan and Charlie. Vote out Charlie, you have a strong chance of being in the Final Three. Vote out Dan, and you have a strong chance of winning the last two Immunities and being in the Final Two. With Dan still there to compete against, it will be harder for G.C. to win. So that's the two sides he's weighing as we go into Tribal Council, and I hope there was some suspense there. 15) Tribal Council time. Probably my second or third favorite TC this season after the therapy session and I like the first TC too with Kelly being voted off. I gave G.C. an obligatory question about the Reward, but this TC was mostly all about Dan and Charlie, as it should have been, I think. This is probably the BIGGEST blindside of the season because you can tell from Charlie's answers that he thought he was totally safe. He says right from the start that there was no need for anyone to scramble because they all agreed it was going to be Dan and Dan knew he was going. Of course the unspoken thing is that Charlie is actually going and he's saying there won't be a blindside, yet there will be. Actually, Charlie made a lot of unknowingly arrogant comments that annoyed the jury (and me!) too, which was interesting. I think Dan's answer about disappointment vs. honor was pretty good, and I think it was necessary for Jeff to ask if Dan is too nice to win. That truly is the way he comes across. Everyone likes him so much and based on Tribal Council, it appeared as if Dan was just accepting his fate. I think Jeff was trying to push him a bit by asking those questions in order to make him see that he still had options. Then Charlie has another arrogant statement that Dan wouldn't turn against him, after Charlie just did the same thing. It's almost like he thought that because it was his best move to get rid of Dan that everybody else would just be content with that. And Charlie also harps on the friendship thing, which gets a little annoying after a while. And then Randy gets a question thrown in there too, and while I hated Charlie's overconfidence, I loved Randy's (over)confidence here because he should have been the one gone and now he's the one that totally orchestrated the vote against Charlie brilliantly and was not at risk of being voted off. A side note: what should have happened was Charlie and Dan should have both said "Okay, this is stupid. Let's just stick to our Final Three like we were going to do and get rid of Randy" but they didn't do that. If this happened, Charlie would have been second place. He didn't want that. But it's better than fifth. Too bad. Dan would have won. 16) So now they vote and I decided to show every vote except for G.C.'s. I just thought that was appropriate since he really could have gone either way. I'm guessing that most of you expected Charlie to go by the end, so I almost think what I should have done is have G.C. vote out Dan and have it a 3-2 vote for Dan. After all the stuff at the end of the episode, that would have been a shock. But even if Charlie's blindside was expected by the end, that shouldn't make it any less great. It's definitely my favorite blindside of the season in that Charlie felt extremely safe and thought there was no way this was happening to him. It would be awesome to see on TV. The hug at the end between Dan and Charlie was important to show that there were no hard feelings. They both came into the game as competitors to win a million dollars and they each did what they had to do. Charlie can respect that just as Dan could understand Charlie's move. They will stay friends after the game for sure with no bitterness. The one thing I like about it is that Dan sortof "one-upped" Charlie or surpassed the huge strategist in the end. I guess you could almost say the learner surpassed the teacher. Charlie was the big fan and strategist and Dan was the one who ended up beating him. And now Paloma is the underdog heading into the finale… 17) CHARLIE AS THE THIRTEENTH BOOT: I'll talk a little bit about Charlie now. I think Charlie had this game in the palm of his hands. He's a huge Survivor fan; he knows how to play the game; he knows how to work the numbers; he knows you have to be sitting beside someone you can beat in the end, and this is exactly what got him voted out. He was almost playing the game too perfectly, too methodically, and too by-the-books. He knew Dan was his biggest threat so logic told him that he had to get rid of his biggest threat. Truthfully, if Charlie/Dan were the Final Two the result would have played out very much like Tocantins with Dan winning nearly unanimously. He is just that well-liked with even Randy not hating him, and he would have even gotten a respect vote from Ace probably. And Charlie was there to win, so even though he said otherwise, there was NO WAY he could be sitting in the Final Two against Dan. Even though both Paloma and Dan would have 100% taken Charlie to the Final Two, there's a huge chance that Dan wins the last Immunity no matter what it is (Paloma and Charlie have both done fairly poorly in individual challenges overall), and then Charlie would have come second place. So where did Charlie screw up? Definitely at the Jacquie vote last episode, but I won't even touch that. In this episode, he made the mistake of plotting too early. He didn't have to say anything to Randy or G.C. until AFTER the Immunity Challenge. The reason he did tell them was to get them on board so they could make sure Dan didn't win. Okay. But it opened the door for things to be turned around on him. Another thing about Charlie. As much as Charlie/Dan were shown as a pair throughout the season, Paloma and Charlie were a much stronger and much more obvious pair to everyone else, so from Randy's perspective this was the alliance that had to be broken up. As G.C. said in a previous episode, Paloma and Dan weren't that close so having these two in the Final Four was MUCH smarter than having Charlie/Paloma or Dan/Charlie. Charlie was the one that had to go to split up the other two and leave more options for Randy and G.C. This is why G.C. definitely made the smartest decision here, even though keeping Charlie may have guaranteed himself the last two Immunities. He will have some competition with Dan, but at least they won't have to work around a C/P bond at the Final Four. Backing up a bit, Charlie was basically screwed when he admitted to Dan that he was voting him out. No matter how much you are friends with that person, no one is really going to just sit back and accept fifth place like that. Even though Charlie filled the role of the "strategy bot," I enjoyed writing for him and I think he had some moments of good characterization. For those of you who felt he was too obvious of a winner and did not want to see him win, I was never going to win! I knew that (1) he was going to get more negative/annoying in his last 2-3 episodes, and (2) by then, a lot of people would be actively rooting against him, so that when he finally did get voted out more people will be glad than upset, so thank you to the people who did root against him. I hope you are happy with his final episode! 18) A NOTE ON EDGIC THIS SEASON: I think there's something to be said that the person who gets the blandest CPish with MOR neutrals thrown in there does NOT win in the end. It happened with Brooke in my Micronesia season, then it happened with Marcus in real Gabon, then Stephen in real Tocantins, and now Charlie in this season. In my opinion, anyone who gets a ton of CP3s is also unlikely to win and I'll explain why. When I'm planning everything out, different contestants always have different roles. Some are the narrators, some are the MAJOR characters, some are the big strategists, etc. The person who gets a lot of CP3s is not the winner, but is the strategist. Their role is simply to keep the strategy part of the story moving forward, so they're kindof a narrator but they're the one who talks about all the plots and plans that are going on. That's why they get a CP3 because they just explain the strategy so they get shown, but not enough to have any true development or tone. I would like to think that the winner is going to have a little bit more attention to them. Last season Brooke never got a visibility above 3 until the finale (!) and this season, Charlie had 6 CP3 episodes. Now, I do think his edit was better than Brooke's, but still, I think he would have to get something more than that. The winner is going to be a bit more characterized… I'm not sure if this will make sense since it's hard to explain my planning process, but my second revelation about Edgic: some of you will say that Charlie was the obvious "decoy winner" this season. He was the #1 Edgic Contender for over half of the season and during the early episodes it wasn't even close. Well, unlike the last two seasons where I purposely planned edits and had people like Ashley and Joel as early distractions for the winner, this season I tried a different approach and I did NOT do that. I planned a very specific winner's edit for this season and that is all. I didn't intentionally pick Charlie as a decoy winner. I knew, generally, what his edit would be obviously, but it just happened to come out that way that he looked like the perfect winner based on his content in the episodes. It's for this same reason that the women had poor edits and could almost all be eliminated in 2-3 episodes because I didn't try to make other edits Edgically viable. Next season I'll be more conscious of this again, especially with the women, so that they're not all written off immediately again. As for the remaining four characters, one of them does have the winner's edit. I think everyone left has flaws but I think there are reasons to explain those major flaws too. I will discuss the edits more after the finale. I just don't want to be too spoilery now… 19) THE FINALE: I cannot give a definite date for the finale except to say that it will go up as early in June as I can possibly get it finished. As I usually do, I'll post the finale recap a few days in advance just so you can review the major stories of the season and see how the Final Four played a part in how the season progressed. This may also provide clues to how they do in the finale as well… I hope it will be a great finale. Fiji is always the one to beat, and I'm not going to say it will be as good as that one but there are definitely some strong points to it. The Final Immunity Challenge is actually an endurance challenge and mine always will be endurance because it shows who wants it the most. The Final ICs of the real show really have been terrible these past few seasons. It's also a great Final Tribal Council and hopefully a satisfying winner to top off the season. I don't want to give too much away about the last episode… 20) Finally, I really hope that you all enjoyed the episode, and I would once again like to offer my sincere thanks to you for reading it. Since Episode 1 I had Randy and Dan pegged as my top two candidates after their interestingly similar (yet contrasting) CPs in the first episode. I'm glad to see them come together this episode because maybe they'll be in the end together. However, GC has a really interesting edit (I hope he wins!) and Paloma has a good edit for an F2 loser (or a different type of winner's edit you wanted to try). I think Dan will win, based on the characterization and strategy, and he would be a great winner (but a bit predictable and boring, for me, but knowing you I can see him being a winner because you are so nice). Randy I had as my winners pick for most of the season, until he went psycho N but hey maybe he'll surprise me and my early gut insticts were right. I could see any of the 4 winning, but a Randy VS Dan showoff would be more epic and Dan will probably win (although I'm crossing my fingers for Randy or GC). Should be an excellent finale, as it has been an excellent season. Booting Charlie was a very good choice for your story, considering he was so boring (and you were right about people probably wanting him out by now because he's so obvious!)

Randy, do you think you went a bit too far? Great question. I will definitely have to address some of his antics at the Reunion for sure. G.C. wins immunity, Charlie goes to Randy/G.C. to boot Dan since Paloma will still want Randy gone. I won't spoil what happens, but I do like this idea and I think it would have been a good thing to have happen, especially Paloma voting for Randy. Whereas earlier in the season I wanted Charlie and Paloma to get high numbers, you're now supposed to be rooting against them, so it's great to see them getting low numbers now. I can definitely see why C/P would get negative, but the majority only gave them Mixed so that's what I went with. I was open to either. BTW, thank you for giving Jacquie OTT. I sort of had a feeling that Charlie would be going for a few episodes now, but not in such a blundersome fashion. Also, you probably noticed that you took Jeff's two preseason favorites and eliminated them back to back right before the finale, and the two people that Jeff said he was "ambivalent" about are both in the final four. I'll do edgic and winner choices, and give the episode a 10/10: Charlie: CPM4. A lot of people will probably say N here, but he showed such degrees of remorse that I think that the M is more accurate. He doesn't want to be mean to his friend, and it costs him. Dan: CPP4. This one seems fairly obvious. GC: MOR3. He didn't really do that much. Felt like a holding episode for the finale. Paloma: UTR2. She didn't do much. Randy: MOR2. Wow, a not negative episode... impressive... He definitely understands where he stands in this game, and he is definitely right that he does have a legitimate shot at the money if he can swing Charlie or Jacquie's vote. Winner choices: I would have to go Dan for first pick and GC for second. I almost like GC more, but I don't really see a complete story, whereas Dan has a very well-developed, cared for story line. I think that Randy will go out fourth, Dan will win immunity and take Paloma, and Dan will win handily (the only people who would consider voting Paloma would be Charlie and Jacquie).

Charlie's still the same old boring gamebot as always, which is pretty lame. It's good to see Dan realizing that he's not in the best position in his own alliance. Maybe something'll change and Randy won't be sent home. I hope he lasts to the finale, or even the final 2, because that would be absolutely amazing. Dan...why are you even asking about who Paloma would take to the finals? Bitch ain't winning anything. Charlie is a gamebot, telling Dan a lie to his face and then saying he'll blindside him behind his back. I'm so sick of him. So very, very sick of him. Paloma's confessional, does she not remember Gillian...or that she promised final 2 to Jacquie just last episode? Oh for fuck's sake, and now Paloma gets the sugar-coated sweetheart shit. Pisses me off. Her talking about helping kids build a school is like Joan Rivers talking about her CA charity. She's such a bitch that I don't buy anything she says on the subject. Reward is funny because Paloma is absolutely useless, as usual, when she wanted that reward so badly. Such a shame. Too bad, so sad. Randy making a point to sit as far from Paloma as possible is a nice touch though. Hooray for G.C. winning the reward! It totally makes up for the other African American homeless guy winning the truck in such a horrible way during the real version of Fiji. G.C. picking Paloma is interesting, but I think it's a smart move because Dan & Charlie kinda have all the power, while going with G.C. allows more power to Paloma as far as decision-making goes. Sending Dan to Exile is also good because him being weaker means G.C. has a better shot at winning immunity. G.C. has really turned up his game in the past two episodes and he's setting up jury votes for himself. I'm really hoping you and I have the same result of G.C. in the final 2 at this point, GF. Charlie's scene pisses me off because it's the typical "I live in the city, but now I'm outdoorsy" crap we got from Stephen in Tocantins, and with Charlie, he's annoying and not even close to being funny enough to make me like him for it. I actually like the reward scene. Most of them have been kinda boring this season, no offense, but G.C. having that personal connection due to not living the best life, and Paloma having that personal connection as a missionary really works in a good way. It's sweet to see them both working together to help out the school and enjoying the experience. Hell, I was even happy for Paloma during this scene, and I hate the bitch. Dan's taking the feast like I thought he would. I mean, from his perspective, he's got the numbers no matter what because Randy/G.C. are still just two people against his Powerhouse alliance of three. It's amazing that Dan gets LOBSTER as his comfort. I mean, I guess it is the last exile island trip of the game, but still, lobster is still pretty fancy. And if he does manage to survive, he and G.C. are gonna be going toe to toe for those last few immunity challenges. Dan's story is one of growth, so that worries me as far as his winning the million dollars is concerned. And the fix is in, Charlie is officially discussing booting Dan from the game, and even Paloma's going along with it. I'm amazed at just how little of an impact Randy has had on the episode, given how big of a personality he is. Glad to see G.C. keeping up his mercenary strategy though. At this point, I don't see any reason why Dan would be able to overcome his disadvantage and not get voted out. There's no other logical choice for these people at this point. Even Randy's little "we need to break up Paloma and Charlie" doesn't make sense because Dan is just as big of a threat, if not more of a threat. The immunity challenge was pretty much average, although Charlie giving the win to Paloma kinda sucked, because it completely ruins the streak of Paloma being an absolute failure in every single challenge. Charlie's having a hard time lying to Dan. Boo hoo. And he's so fake about it, too. That annoys me. Now, I have no idea why Randy keeps having this idea to go talk to people who are getting voted out instead of him. I mean, honestly, he's in a shitty enough position, and whether he's trying to buy jury votes or not, it's just plain dumb to tell someone that their allies are voting them out, because they could flip it back and take out the snitch. Granted, an Eliza situation could be pulled, but that was a one time deal where Eliza had no strong bonds anyway. And then Dan says exactly what I'm thinking, lol. Dan confronts Charlie and it really is a tough moment to watch, because it's friends betraying friends. Still, Charlie being such a prick about the whole thing annoys the shit out of me. "Dan accepted it so gracefully." PLEASE let his ass get blindsided. And yet Dan really does seem to be lying down and taking it, at least for now. Randy telling Dan he'll help him out now is absolutely delicious. I love it, and I love him saying he thinks he could beat Dan. PLEASE let this blindside happen. I don't care how illogical it is, Charlie deserves it for being such an annoying little bitch. This tribal council is just disgusting. Hearing Charlie so blatantly talk about booting Dan bugs me on so many different levels. But I have to say that Dan is doing a great job of acting pathetic about the whole thing. Holy shit YES! Charlie getting blindsided is the best moment of the game thus far! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Moses! Thank you Allah! Thank you Buddha! Thank you non-existant corporeal entity! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the episode so much. That is always nice to hear! :) Wow, that was amazing. I sort of had a feeling that Charlie would be going for a few episodes now, but not in such a blundersome fashion. Also, you probably noticed that you took Jeff's two preseason favorites and eliminated them back to back right before the finale, and the two people that Jeff said he was "ambivalent" about are both in the final four. Thank you so much! I couldn't say anything all season, but to all the people who thought Charlie was too obvious, you were definitely right. I was just waiting for this moment and it ended up being better than I expected in the end. This episode really surprised me. I was aware of that about Jeff's preseason favorites just missing out on the finale. As for the Final Four, I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure Jeff gave them all mixed reviews. I know he said Paloma surprised him a lot and gave some memorable moments. And I know he said GC might be too independent and Randy is a loner who will have a hard time dealing with people. And Dan's assessment has proven to be pretty accurate, especially with the comment about Dan having to make a big move. He just did that now by getting rid of Charlie. But I know I purposely gave the Final Four assessments that were kindof a "gray area." I'll do edgic and winner choices, and give the episode a 10/10: Thank you very much for the 10/10!!! :D Charlie: CPM4. A lot of people will probably say N here, but he showed such degrees of remorse that I think that the M is more accurate. He doesn't want to be mean to his friend, and it costs him. I think you're right that he'll undoubtedly get some Ns. I think that Mixed is probably the best way to go, but as with last episode, I'm open to either and I'm anxious to see what other people say. Dan: CPP4. This one seems fairly obvious. Actually, not necessarily. I could also see OTTP since his story of the episode was kindof simplified in a way as far as him being a hero who gets betrayed and then rises above it to live another day, and strategy only for "self-preservation" is one of the criteria for OTT. So I could see either. GC: MOR3. He didn't really do that much. Felt like a holding episode for the finale. Yeah, most of his visibility was from the Reward until the very end of the episode when he was the swing vote. I would say he earns a P though for the Reward scene. Paloma: UTR2. She didn't do much. Again, maybe a minor P for the Reward? Randy: MOR2. Wow, a not negative episode... impressive... He definitely understands where he stands in this game, and he is definitely right that he does have a legitimate shot at the money if he can swing Charlie or Jacquie's vote. The best part of this for me is that I didn't have to rely on Randy to make this episode interesting by giving him a huge 5 visibility. The other characters' stories were actually enough to make it one of the best and I impressed myself with that. I agree on your rating. Winner choices: I would have to go Dan for first pick and GC for second. I almost like GC more, but I don't really see a complete story, whereas Dan has a very well-developed, cared for story line. I think that Randy will go out fourth, Dan will win immunity and take Paloma, and Dan will win handily (the only people who would consider voting Paloma would be Charlie and Jacquie). Steals Kitty's idea and writes whilst reading The pre-reward segment. It leaves me intrigued. I think the boot has been set up to be either Dan or Paloma. No one else. Dan seems a bit too obvious right now, so I'm thinking atm that its Paloma going. Her segment about winning the reward was a bit out of place for her. I could see GC/Randy telling Dan that Charlie/Paloma are voting him out, or Dan going to GC/Randy as a pre-emptive measure to take out Paloma. Charlie/Paloma probably vote Dan, but I could see Charlie feeling guilty and backing out, and they just vote for Randy. That's how I would lean. Reward: Definitely nice to see GC win. His confessional is very winner-esque. Hmmm. Thanks for doing a second chance game ... they haven't done it in a while on the real show, and its definitely missed. Post-RC scene/s: Could this be Charlie's kiss of death? Usually a winner doesn't get a personal growth story, at least on the real show, and I know you try to stay as true to the show as possible. Thank you for not shoving Randy down our throats! I'm never a huge fan of reward scenes, even on the real show, but I thought this was very well written. Good on you! Exile, was this another kiss of death for Dan? I mean, personal growth and a reference to biting the apple (which I believe GC didn't get) ... ouch. And right before I see Randy might turn the tables I was thinking to myself "he's going to use this to get his arch nemesis, Paloma, out." I still think Dan is too obvious. I'll go with Paloma. IC: Ouch, Paloma wins. So much for that theory. Though I am happy because I'm loving her. Love that Randy wanted to puke. Though I do kind of like Randy this episode when he's not douchebag extraordinaire. Post-IC: Okay, a lot of my Charlie love just died. He's an idiot for telling Dan and then acting all weepy about it. Does he really expect Dan to lay down and die? Does he really trust Randy or GC?? And is Dan an idiot for even CONSIDERING letting Charlie get his way or what?? A lot of my Dan love just died to. I'm actually liking Randy right now! But this scene is so well put together, I loved reading it. Charlie's done. Perfect blindside. It really could not have been written better. (B) What was your overall favorite part of the episode?
