nowadays, I don't know what I think! I USED to think that the island healed Locke and then resurrected him after he died.

Yes to Phantom! | ||

Wow - Well said Phantom. I think you nailed it - I think there's so much imagery used- not necessarily specifics being spelled out. I think we may be
reading too much into some things. I think the writers are using typology to communicate their story arcs. Ben and Widmore, Jocob and Anti-Jacob, Locke and
Jack, Fate and Destiny... Themes - not necessarily EXACT equations. I dont think we will have every question answered specifically at the end of this series. I
think we'll be able to postulate some answers. "oh.. that must mean that the kids were.... " - I think some people are going to be dispointed if
they think all of the Spcifics will be mapped out. We need to sit back, put away our magnifying glasses and see the big picture they're showing us. The
themes, morals, kind of like the tapestry Jacob was weaving. Look at the whole thing - not the little threads.
Personally - I'm loving the ride - I think the writers are brilliant in the harmonies they're creating - and I loved how you - Phantom - explained it - Thanks! |

So Locke wasn't supposed to meet Cooper, which means he wasn't supposed to fall out a building (and die?), which means he wasn't
supposed to be paralyzed. No "course correction" via Jacob for that problem?
Not meeting Copper means not having that kidney removed too, which means he dies when Ben shoots him at the Dharma pit. Or does the Island save him in any case, so the missing kidney was a red herring. And it means Locke wouldn't have gotten Cooper killed (via Sawyer) so he could pass a crucial test needed in his ascension as Leader of the Others. I realize Ben made up the test, but Richard didn't seem to bat any eyeliner about it. "Course Correction" would have provided another test for Locke, or was he not supposed to become Leader of the Others? I think pussycow's on the right track. By having Locke become "Healed Part 2" by the Island, Locke learns immediately, and in a way no one else on the plane does, that the Island is "special". This shapes all his actions afterward, priming him for Leadership. Locke is important to Jacob because he ends up being his way to finally die. Yet, this is Anti's goal as well. But Jacob has prepared a little squad to continue his Work as well. Would this be to kill Anti, which means Jacob found a loophole as well? Or is it to somehow prove Anti wrong and Jacob right, which will have some other effect Anti or the Island (bringing Locke back?)? Could it, by The Rules of The Game/War that The Two are playing/fighting, result in a win for Jacob? Idunno. I'm guess they're just a couple guys from the future, who end up on the Island, and flash through time. The Island does two things we've seen it do: It won't let them die, and It keeps them ageless. They try to kill each other numerous times, but can't. (Perhaps when one is "killed", they wake up in the jungle, like Jack.) Anti might even blame Jacob for how they got there. This stalemate forces them , in time, to get attuned to the Island, and, like the Others, prevents them from flashing through time. They're stuck in the distant past. They come to know The Rules very well (which they trickle to Richard and the Others). They know much of what's to come, even in regards to the Island. Could be they're from the Island's future, or had access to what transpired on the Island -- perhaps from those who finally are "rescued" and return to the world at large. Perhaps descendants of such. Maybe even Jacob/Anti = Aaron/Charlie (where's Ji Yeon)? It does seem that Jacob may be "special", since he can "bring" people to the Island, and Anti apparently can't (or chooses not to). Faraday decided he was wrong wrong wrong about the universe's Rules about "What Happened Happened", and scoffed at his Mother's talk of "destiny". Perhaps The Two are also trying to change things. Is bringing the Black Rock to the Island something "big enough" to change the timeline? Or did it always happen? How would the universe "course correct" for Jacob's small changes? Kill the crew, while Jacob manages to save Richard and Magnus (temporarily)? Could the nuke be something Jacob is hoping will change His past as well, hence the presence of many of his Chosen at the scene? Is he also trying to prevent He and Anti from getting stuck in the past... which means, like Jack and Co. getting nuked, his "death" won't matter? Could he be expecting a huge timeline shift? In a way, the more I think/write about it... the less I care. The writers will/can do whatever they want, giving us as much or as little as they want. |

I think we may be reading too much into some things. Ya think? In a way, the more I think/write about it... the less I care. The writers will/can do whatever they want, giving us as much or as little as they want. I kind of feel the same way. It's fun to discuss it and speculate about stuff, but when it gets to a certain point I just don't really care anymore and would rather just wait and see, rather than coming up with some grand scheme/explanation and then being disappointed by what they end up giving us. |

So according to Phantom unless you post endless diatribe after endless diatribe you don't 'care'.

did anyone catch this?
let me set the scene... Jack and Sayid leaving darmaville, and Roger stops them and says "he's the one that shot my son" then he shoots Sayid and then a gunfight breaks out with Jack in the middle of it all. When Jack is shooting and killing almost everyone he aims at except..... ROGER. I know he shot at him at least 4 times and everytime he missed or was it the island saying its not Rogers time to die yet. what do ya'll think about it? |

FeliciaM7 |

Jack couldn't kill Roger because Ben kills Roger. What happened, happened...?

I won't complain regardless of how the show ends. It was a fun ride.
I am still a bit peeved over a few of the bends in the road.... but it's still one of (if not THE) best shows in tv history. Of course, I don't get bent out of shape over the finales of tv shows. I thought Seinfeld's was perfect. |

Me too! I don't get the complaints. They got arrested for doing NOTHING. IT was such a genius way to go out on a show about 'nothing'. The parade
of guest stars while impressive didn't 'dominate the ending like many complained. And it ended on a perfectly dark, bitter note (while still being
silly AND referencing the opening joke of the pilot episode ("The 2nd button is the key button"). I think most of the complaints came from the more
casual fans and those who wanted the Friends-esque finale where Jerry & Elaine get together Kramer wins the lottery and George moves in with his parents
weith everyone hugging at the end.

I don't bitch too much about series finales either. I'm usually crying. *eyeroll*
But I wasn't too incredibly happy with the one season of Life on Mars ending on... Mars. I think I would have preferred the UK ending. OR maybe it was because I knew how the original ended that I wasn't so thrilled. |
