Yes it is. The SFX are cheezy now (it was 1983) but the story, characters, actors are all great.

V is cheesy by today's standards but it was great in its time! Can't wait for it to start again..

An early review, with some spoilers
Would real New Yorkers break into joyous applause if a giant alien ship blocked out the sun over the Manhattan and announced to the city's denizens they come in peace? Or would real New Yorkers flip off the ship and scream at it to move? In a "V" clip released by ABC, the New Yorkers applaud joyously. That's what I call sci-fi! Here's someone who thinks the "V" pilot "works" and wants to see more:
"V" will reveal its Nazi lizard face to ABC viewers at midseason. |

Wait--both of the aliens on this show are the black characters?

I don't think Morris Chestnut's character is an alien.......

I have read "V The Second Generation." It is interesting, but I had some trouble with completely disregarding "V The Final Battle." I definatley did not have a problem with them disregarding the series...the series SUCKED!!! And yes: SuitSnob is a Class A V Freak.

So should I just watch both of the mini-series and not the series that came out after the final battle? I'm really excited though. Cheezy 80s graphics and
plots don't bother me.

Watch both minis and if you really love them watch the series. It's really not THAT bad. They do some cool stuff continuity/serialization wise. Not afraid
to kill off major characters at unexpected times.

Not afraid to kill off major characters at unexpected times. So many characters in the regular TV series would just buy have the equivalent of "red shirt" deaths in Star Trek. I don't know if there was a lot of backstage turmoil regarding the show and people were leaving all the time or if it was ahead of it's time (like "24" was praised to be) in that no one on the show was really safe from death. |

Oh wow, I was born in 82 and never experienced the original runs. But about 12 years ago SciFi aired the weekly series and I tuned in to see Jennifer Cooke
(Elizabeth) cause I loved her in Friday the 13th 6, then I got the mini series and FB at Blockbuster on VHS and have loved it ever since, bought the DVDs as
soon as they came out and am so pumped for the remake, Elizabeth Mitchell is a treat too, wonder if we get any cameos from original, I adored Faye Grant and
Jane Badler...

I really thought there was thread for it quite a while ago, but I guess maybe it was in OT. I can't believe my parents let me watch this when I was a kid, they didn't let us watch ANYTHING. I remember freaking out when someone swallowed a guinea pig. Can't wait for this to start up! |
