The ratings for early bootees like Carolina and Candace are always tough, when you only have one or two episodes to judge them. Misty's CP in EI and Courtney's MOR in EI should have been switched, but Misty did have two of her three episodes as CP.


MOR really doesn't fit Erinn's overall edit. CP is a better fit, as Erinn had lots of complex TC comments and confessionals. I think edgicers are misapplying her lack of visibility towards her "ranking" ratings as well as her visibility ratings.


Both Tyson and Coach were N. One might have been "more N" than the other, but they were both N overall.

To get an M you need a mixed-message edit, in which there is both plenty of Negativity in a player as well as a bunch of corresponding positive scenes. There were tons of N scenes for Tyson, but darned if I can't thing of even a few that I could consider positive, and certainly not enough to offset his huge N-ness. Yeah, there were his naked scenes early on, but even those were tempered with his explanation of why he did it. And when other players laugh but put their hands over their mouths, that indicates great discomfort (it's an almost universal human reaction to shock and discomfort). That was the reaction Tyson's naked scenes engendered.

This all might harken back to the actual meaning of the "overall edgic rating" for a player (which, incidentally, has nothing to do with edgic). To me, it would indicate the ultimate intent of the editors. This doesn't mean a scorecard or tally sheet of P, N, OTT, CP etc. scenes in every episode. Instead, it's to give the viewer the gut-level, post-finale reaction to their memory of the player over the whole season. Just ask the average viewer: So, what did you think of [player's name]? Tyson was, in some ways, as N as Ben, and one of the most negative players in Survivor history.
