According to a source on-site in Samoa, the land around the Taga Blowholes on Savaii has been leased for the production. I think this information,
TDT's article, the preview, the closing of the Canopy Walk "for construction", and the location of Aggie's point to Savaii (and possibly
southwestern Upolu) as the primary location for the game.

thanks samoasharkk, so nice to get a perspective from Samoa.
In the past, tribe names are very often island names. I believe that works well for the tourism promotion, gets people familiar with the island names. Could be as simple as Upolu and Savai`i. Both would make fine names for challenge calls and are easy to differentiate. TDT, that beach looks perfect for challenges. Re the structures, in the Cooks most of the challenges were done on One Foot Island, which has a very prominent post office building with outside seating. It also has one overnight accommodation that appears in a lot of photographs. (My avatar is One Foot Island, and the photo just misses including the post office, right of the frame.) Point being, all those challenges and we never saw the post office or the two story tree lodgings on the show. |

Just looking on Google Earth, my guess is that the filming will be on the southwestern tip of Upolu. That's the only place I can find that has a high
enough concentration of deserted beaches. Most of the beaches on the rest of the island are taken up by villages and resorts. Plus, it's very close to
the Aggie Grey resort (7 miles). I might post pics in a bit.

i don't really care what probst has to say about the cast. i remember when he said fiji was filled with sneaky people and good players who knew how to play
the game. that turned out to be false. and probst also liked gabon which turned out to be a pretty bad cast overall. the only good people cast were crystal,
kenny (even though I hated him), and i guess sugar, even though she was acting throughout the show. randy,matty, and corinne were ok too.

Good stuff everyone. I like the part in the article where Samoa is switching their driving sides of the road from right to wrong. It will be crazy and deadly.
I rented a car in the Bahamas and almost got in 3 head ons.

Stumbled across this today:
Aggie Grey's Beach Resort & Spa near the airport is booked out from sometimes soon until at least end of September. posted by wksamoa who appears to be within Samoa. Agrees with TDT's info about Return to Paradise beach and brings the beach count to the necessary 3, all within the same part of the island. I am thinking Nu'utele is out if this is accurate. |
