Oh, and we all had to talk about the same damn scenes from the original: the rodent eating and the damn lizard baby. One other person wanted to talk about Robert Englund.

I sent the trailer to a coworker today. This has now spread like a wildfire, with everyone talking about having watched the original. (Well, everyone that
was old enough to watch the original.) Quite a few are excited about the remake. If ABC does a good job of promoting this, it'll be a huge.

Heh. I'm dating myself here, but I was in college when that series came out. We were total fans. The thing I recall from the lizard baby scene was that the
first baby seemed normal - until it's little lizard tongue came out. That was some freaky shit.

I was 6 :)
Willie was a fave naturally (me being a wee lad at the time). It's what I'll think of when I see Robert Englund rather than Nightmare on Elm St. I remember being quite sad about many of the deaths especially in Final Battle. They did a great job making you care about them. |

Fuck the resistance. I was rooting for Diana. This is a woman who would sooner blow up the Earth if she couldn't control it. "You need an attitude adjustment my dear. And it will be my pleasure to give it to you."

I am so pumped about this show. Love both the mini-series (even though I was 2 when the first one aired) and was excited when the DVD of the series came out
since I had never seen any of it before. I'm so glad that "V" has become relevant again, what with this series and Kenneth Johnson's
"Second Generation" book from a few months ago.
Incidentally, did anybody actually happen to read "V: The Second Generation"? I haven't seen anybody in here mention it yet. Kenneth Johnson wrote it as a direct follow-up to the original mini-series. I thought it was pretty good, although I didn't care for the fact that he ignores everything that happened in "Final Battle" and the weekly show. |

Haven't read it yet (next on my bookshelf) but I'm not surprised he ignored the follow ups. Tey were very different from the original although great in
their own ways.

I read an interesting article about how the creators lost control of the basic storyline to Hollywood suits for part 2 of the mini series. Which explains why
it was total crap with the whole little girl and the praytaynama crap.
Hopefully this one doesn't suffer the same fate. |

Yeah Kenneth Johnson was supposed to do "Final Battle" but the network wanted to do things differently than he did, so he quit. He's said many
times that he hated the direction that they went in with FB and the weekly series. At first I was disappointed to hear that he wasn't involved in this
remake, however I was a big fan of "The 4400" so I have faith in Scott Peters.

Holy fucking crap that looks good!
I got all of the "V" DVDs for Christmas, and I watched them all. Then I heard about this remake a few days later. I can't wait for this! |

The end of the Final Battle is where V ended for me. In fact, aside from Diana killing John, the entire final episode was crap. There's so many ways they could have gone instead of magic red dust. I also hate how no one mourned the green lizard baby. Just disposed of as a plot device. Very sad. The Star Child sucked. At least if she was extra smart and cracked the decoder that way, I could buy it, but magic powers. No, just no. |

Watching that extended trailer, I realized with some time and patience I could make a pretty funny Obama Youtube clip out of it. O.
Too bad I'm lazy. |

If you kept watching the show you'd see the red dust was neutralized in warm climates thus allowing the lizzies to come back.
It was cheezy but not THAT bad and ending. |
