I don't understand. They should have had a fast Town car at the Airport waiting for them
with a pro driver who knows the Island.

Why the teams did not call a Maui Limo or Private Taxi Service while on the plane

Limos are prone to flat tires

Tire blowouts, to be more specific.

Not a real limo, a Town car or a private taxi.

Maui has many taxis. The drivers are Asian blood and maybe Caucasians.

1) No guarantee a town car driver will have much more intimate knowledge than a taxi driver. Also, there is no way someone would be able to hire a "pro driver" (whatever that is) in such a short time from half way across the world. Not to mention that every car service will swear up-and-down that they know every nook and cranny of their respective city. 2) In any case, you would need at least a credit card to reserve a driver in the U.S. Is that allowed? I don't know, but I doubt it. |

This episode has taught me that I need to bring my TomTom when I go to Maui.

Good point on the Tom Tom,
A perfect example was the Ginger's cab, the driver got lost and he needed to get gas. They could have won the race if they had a fast driver with a full tank. And on this race I did not see anyone beg for money tobuild-up the war-chest/. |

It was Jamie/Cara's fault for not asking if he had a full tank -- they should know it would have been an all-over-the-island kind of day. The cab driver
wouldn't have. So that was their on their shoulders, not the driver's fault. He had plenty of gas to get them to any of the resorts on the island.
But ... shame, shame, shame on a cab driver who didn't know every inch of what is a very small island. Having been there only six or seven times, even I knew where they were headed. Hell, on Maui, you probably should practically be able to tell the driver you're going to Bob's house in Kihei, and he should get you there. |
