Gabon > Tocantins :
Location. Gabon was breathtakingly beautiful. Tocantins is kinda meh. Cast. Way more characters than Tocantins, and really most seasons of Survivor. This was a great group, and the way they all hated each other was amazing and the most intense hatred since All-Stars. In particular, Gabon had Crystal, who was so amazing in every way. More complex alliances... the only alliance we really saw form in Tocantins was the exile alliance which ended up not even happening. Gabon gave more alliance insight. Tocantins > Gabon : Truly suspenseful pre-merge, as the two tribes were relatively evenly matched for the first time in a long time. Strategy. Gabon had none. It was 18 idiots in West Africa competing to see who the most supreme idiot was. I enjoyed it, but seeing strategy return is also nice. Challenges. Nothing stands out from Gabon, while this season has had some pretty good ones. The water basketball challenge in particular (which was way better than the water lacrosse in Gabon.) More even editing. Gabon was a huge improvement over Micronesia, but Tocantins is a huge improvement over Gabon. There have been no characters that were just completely invisible like Susie last season. I can't imagine that Tocantins will have an ending as disappointing as Gabon's. The only disappointing winner would be Sierra, and that's not happening. Also, F2 > F3. I won't be able to say until the end which one I like more, and even then it'll be hard. These two seasons are just completely different to me and I really like them both. I will say that it's been easier getting my friends into Tocantins than it was Gabon.

Right now if it continues at this pace it will replace Gabon in my top 4 seasons along with pearl islands/amazon/micronesia

Both Seasons have been great | ||

Gabon had so many entertaining moments, and a string of great episodes but a weak finale. Also the cast dynamic was fascinating as they really disliked each other by the end, for example Charcus not even speaking to Crystal at Ponderosa. Tocantins has been slightly more consistent week to week and the players have been taken things less personally. Both seasons are miles ahead of Cook Islands / Fiji. I would definately put Micronesia through Tocantins at a very high level. |
