Debbie did her confessional as a mime, I believe. And those sock puppets. it was neat.

Erinn got a "status of my game position" report, as well as a strategy scene with JT, probably laying the groundwork for the future end game. I agree with everything except the word "end". |

Brendan should be a 5 tonight along with Coach.
I'm now torn between Stephen and JT. But Stephen's firemaking makes me think he wins a fire challenge near the end. |

Whoa-- now that was a surprise! Great job, editors... I was sure it was going to be Coach.
At this point, clearly, it's Stephen or JT. I do think JT had the better first episode overall, though Stephen seems to be getting more UTR-style craft despite being arguably the most consistently CP character in the game. I can tell I'm going to have trouble with Tyson's rating today. N? Neutral? MOR? CP? OTT? Definitely will take a re-watch. And JT... I'm thinking CPPP. I think this rare rating is definitely warranted in this episode. |

And if we get a surprise win this season, it's her. Well, if we're going down that road, the surprise of the season would certainly be Debbie. |

How would Brendan be N? The rafting scene definitely wasn't a negative moment from him.
And from the general audience's POV, I'd think people would be on Brendan's side rather than Coach's.. |

I agree that there's no way Brendan was N. The audience was supposed to be rooting for him to pull off the blindside tonight.

Yesmar88 wrote: Agreed (particularly with both Brendan and Sierra being part of the JT lovefest, which is quickly becoming the theme of this season). Let's just say the Shamrock's ratings are getting more and more quirky. I can't see Sierra going next. Right now it's JT/Stephen/Taj vs Benjamin/Debbie/Tyson with Erinn unattached and Sierra now homeless. Better for the trios to go after each other now then take out a straggler and risk the other straggler aligning with the other trio. I think the ex-Jalapao's are playing a smart enough game to realize this, particularly considering that Taj is not part of the F5 deal, and JT and Stephen would not want to be outnumbered at that point in the game. From an editing viewpoint, the blindside reminded me of Burton and JFP when Rupert got booted - they were shown as way too smug about it. Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord (and Mark Burnett). |

I dunno, Brendan's confessionals were kinda douchey to me, with plenty of braggadocio. It was very similar to last episode, and I was pleasantly surprised
when Brendan got his comeuppance in the end.
Don't worry, Coach and Tyson will soon get their just desserts. |

This type of challenge has been one that athletic women have done well in earlier seasons (eg S11). Not this season.
Benjamin: OTTN5 In case you were not sure how to react, just watch JP at TC. As Annie Savoy said "The world is made for people who are not cursed with self awareness." Brendan: CP5 We were meant to be on his side, so the editors got us good (right down to Stephen's comment, which referred to the name Benjamin gave him). Debbie: UTR1 Definitely the mother role (has to try to keep her kid awake while the boring uncle is droning on and on and on). Erinn: UTR1 Will become a pawn for JT down the road? JT: OTTP5 It's just all too much, why don't they stop the game now and just vote him the $1M. Must be some kind of record for positive SPV. If he got to the end, where would the drama be in the final vote? Sierra: UTR1 More bashing from Tyson that is not supported by the editing (I mean, seriously, she talks too much when Benjamin is on the same tribe ???) Stephen: CP3 They highlighted him making fire, but they have not mentioned how pathetic he has been in challenges. My sense is that he is not prepared to simply hand the cheque to JT. Taj: UTR2 Her story has been eclipsed by JT (in particular) and Stephen. Tyson: MOR3 Confident or cocky, confident or cocky, which is it? TC answers were astute, and if he won he would have received a far different edit, with much of the snark left on the cutting room floor. |

Brendan's confessionals were kinda douchey to me, with plenty of braggadocio. Agreed. Brendan's story was his overconfidence. The last two eps summed it up by his belief that he could play fast and loose with Stephen and JT ,and get away with flip-flopping whenever he felt like it. This boot started last week, when the edit rehabilitated Coach just enough to make his alliance with JT palatable. |

Channeling the Erinn llove: The key to her edit was the turtle. It was shown twice in her epic scene with JT. My gosh, it's so obvious: Tortoise vs.
Hare. Slow and steady wins the race. So who's gonna win? </tongue from inside cheek>
JT actually dropped a bit in this episode in my estimation - he was basically a coin flip last week for me with Stephen, but S was my choice because of internal complexity. JT sounded a bit Oz-like in his confidence. And Coach: What a marvelous character. Utterly absurd, filled with himself so much he needs Charmin for what's coming out of his mouth. I can see why JT et al went along with the Coach/Tyson plan - they're ultimately suckers. That's the redeeming thing about JT and Stephen's (more the former than the latter) confidence. They're up against ubervillains, so SEG is editing this for an ultra-payoff. Sierra - poor thing. A couple of 1's in the "two-part" (heh) merger, and t.e.ars next week. I think Tyson made a major blunder by talking that way to her. All of his snark so far against her - and everyone else, for that matter - has been in confessionals. Insulting her was stupid, like Brian H bragging to Tedd and then to Helen and then to Clay. His mouth will be his downfall. Very nicely edited ep, in terms of hiding the in retrospect obvious boot. Why the HELL did Brandon choose to NOT talk about the exile alliance with Taj and Stephen immediately upon the merge? "Be quiet" - WRONGO. Shore it up right now. Don't let anyone else get first dibs on them. His lack of mouth was his undoing. edited to fix that stupid "boo-hoo" word. Jeez.

that was soooo interesting.
and regarding the JT love fest...i know it makes it seem really really bad for him... but... This whole Stephen & JT thing has been reminding me of Tom & Ian from Palau....they are jockeying for position, sometimes Stephen pulls ahead, sometimes JT. Both are likeabe and shown as equals, etc.... So for fun, i have been reading the Palau edgic thread... now there's an interesting read. Anyway... Tom was consistently labelled a distraction, too P, too hero like, too visible, too out front... but there were a couple of voices whole made some very astute observations... one of which was Pastordice who called Ian and Tom "mutal distractions".... i think that is a great fit of a term for Stephen & JT. In many ways i see a real parallel between Ian / Tom and Stephen / JT, more than i do with anyone else. Maybe some shades of Yul / Ozzy, but i think the editing this time around seems more even and back and forth... Ozzy became really flat and one dimension fairly early early. A second observation about Tom that really stuck with me is that... no matter how you slice it, Tom was a major force, he was dominate, a leader, positive... in just about everything... so how do you hide a winner who is so dominant??? Easy.... you hide him IN PLAIN SIGHT. If JT does win... they are faced with another case of a dominant, likeable, leader... who...damn it...everyone LOVES. I think everyone has now bonded with JT and said they love him... If JT wins.... looking from the Final TC.... if a lot of people end up saying super positive things about him.... the editors need to show JT bonding with all these people. Additionally...let's assume that Brendan votes for JT.... the editors really need to show why, after all Brendan hasn't had a whole lot of contact with him... so this now explains the JT love fest / save JT plan. And speaking of which.... what of that STRANGE conversation between Brendan & Sierra.... that is something that will be coming back to us.... what was Brendan's plan??? Sierra knows it... maybe Sierra manages to worm her way into staying and carries out Brendan's "we love JT and want him to win" plan??? oddness there. And it's not like JT is the only front & centre... JT has (and has had) tonnes of distractions around him. He has his CP-distraction in Stephen, the loveable-spunky female distraction in Taj.... the Crazy old lady Sandy, whatever the hell Tyson and Coach are... AND the coolest alliance EVER (cross tribal...woot woot!). I just feel like we have been down this road before... and while edgically, JT is not perfect... his editing pattern to date still fits past winners better than anyone else. And JT (and Stephen ) still have doubt... they are way down in numbers, JT has been singled out as a threat (which as we know is bad for Stephen)and JT's having a hard time winning immunities cause Tyson is just all-over them. And to the casual viewer.... is he reallt that obvious??? They are probably thinking... wow! JT totally dodged a bullet. That was so cool. but even after all of this, if he wins... his win will make sense to the audience. Anyway.... I'm just throwing it out there... We are so busy looking for "the hidden winner"... that maybe we are missing the forest for the trees. |
