And it's no crazier than Kisha and Jen leaving their backpacks and fanny pack at the first task and trying to check into the pit stop without their
passports.

I remember when Uchenna and Joyce pulled up to the final pitstop before Romber. They had no money to pay their cab, so they ran around frantically, asking
people for money to pay the cab driver. So the rule about not paying a cab with your posessions has been in place a while, it's just that we haven't
seen what the penalty is until now. I for one am glad they have these rules and penalties, it stops people from playing dirty and trying to cheat and keeps the
race at least somewhat classy and family friendly. This is why it keeps winning those Emmy's.

Where are our former racers that post here...they could settle this. Paging Mrs Gaghan. |

Sigh... I thought I did settle this.
As of the current season, it is a rule that you may not use anything you have brought with you for ANY kind of selling/trading/bartering. Anything you may come by once you have STARTED the race is fare game for selling/trading/bartering. It is also a rule that you may NOT abandon a cab driver with no payment at all. (See Colin for the origin of THAT rule.) BUT, so long as your cab driver says you are square, it's all good and you may continue. This is why Uchenna and Joyce HAD to settle with their cab driver in season 7. He was demanding payment. And this is why they could not just bail and run to the finish line. If the cab driver had just said "it's ok," they would have been fine. Much like K and J in this episode with their free cab ride. |

People really need to stop using Dandrew as an example. Their cabby didn't take their shoes, they kept them - hence it was a fail barter.
Didn't the cabby just accept their money? |

And even so, didn't they buy those shoes with race money anyways?

Does The Amazing Race have any "Janelle/James style" rules concerning incidental contact?
|
|||
oh ehm gee |

ghostbusted wrote: Wasn't that "rule" that there was no rule (and incidentally, James has no leg to stand on considering he purposefully tried to hit Erika in the shin while she was lunging)? There certainly wasn't a rule for the railway museum brawl in TAR6. |

The race is supposed to start out fair for all teams. It's what they do on the race that determines their placement. Rules like this are absolutely essential. |

Coming into the race with a bag full of ipods and jewelry gives you a little more of an advantage than having travel experience.

It's like letting poker players play personal cards they brought with them to the table.

I guess this is as good a thread as any for a rules question I am wondering about. If a member of a team got hurt, twisted an ankle say, while in transit to a
task or pit stop; would the rules allow a "Fern" to carry the injured person to the destination?
