The dude was an idiot to let it go so long. I imagine they could have just gave him a shot of antibiotics in it's early stage. But he let is fester.
Probably had to be cut open and the pus expressed.

I agree. All they need to do is lance it, get the pus out, and put him on antibiotics. I've always assumed there must be some Survivor rule about the
degree of medical assistance you could receive and still stay in the game.
