Saw it on IMAX yesterday and definitely enjoyed it. I was one of those who thought they'd never be able to do it justice as a 3 hour film and though I still think this should have been an HBO miniseries, I thought they did a great job. I can't say enough good things about JEH as Rorschach. Dude was note perfect at every turn. And who knew Denny Duquette would kick ass as THE COMEDIAN? I also thought Patrick Wilson was a surprise as Nite Owl, but he did the role very well. The only actors I didn't care much for were Laurie/SS2 and OZY. Ozymandias should have been more godlike and physically imposing. I don't think the acting weak links were as bad as they could've been. I definitely think WATCHMEN, whether as a film or a miniseries is going to only be enjoyed by people who have read the novel. When I first saw trailers, I expected it to be a big action flick along the lines of FANTASTIC FOUR, but after reading the novel, I've been surprised that the studio have been promoting it the way they have. Among the people that I know who have seen it, everyone who hadn't read the novel hated it and everyone who did loved it.
