If I could delete one phrase from the English language, I think it would be jump the shark.

I'm glad "The Raised Eyebrow"is back at the Destiny Mat! I also liked the split screens, time stamps, graphic maps, and different trains. The split screens reminded me of the original Thomas Crowne Affair, but the pace of the edit was more like The Bourne Identity. I totally missed the clues being more like clues instead of explicit directions. Real clues and grueling tasks are a plus. Penalties for not explicitly following the rules would be cool, too. The new theme music isn't as inspirational, though. The music during the cheese challenge was a bit too silly. I'm almost certain The Producers read this board. Great show! |

^ Well, if the producers really DO read this board, then, hey Van Munster: Give me my theme song back! |

I usually never watch TAR eppys twice but I really liked the new pace and feel of the premiere so I watched it again and it was even better!

Ratings may have been down but that was across the board on Sunday, TAR still won its timeslot and that's all that matters.
As for the show, we liked it. We've seen teams drive to airports, especially LAX before so that's nothing new and unless there was actual drama at the ticket counters, why bother with it. We've already seen Charla, Sarah and Charla again, so racers with a special challenge aren't new. Luke just got way too much airtime. Admittedly TAR is TV comfort food and you expect certain things in a premiere but once you look past that you'll prob agree it was a good debut. As for some of the casting - lemme have another epi or two before I can be objective. |

I thought most of the changes were pretty awesome, tbh. Certainly a welcome change after the steaming pile of shite that was the TAR13 premiere episode. The
driving to the airport part usually gets really tedious, so I'm gald they cut that out, although I still think they should have shown a little of it, as
well as a little bit at the airport. Glad there was none of the "Oh my god, we're going to miss the flight!", cue slow motion worried faces and
dramtic music - BREAK - They get on it anyway. They always have the 3 morning departure thing for the first leg as well, so the fake drama was always
especially pointless in the premiere. I thought the tasks were great and the choice of different routes via the trains. Liked the split screen and new theme /
titles as well. The only thing that is devastating is the lack of the rattlesnake.
I feel like I got to know all the teams a little during the premiere, whereas in TAR13 they basically cut out the bottom 4/5 teams from the whole episode. Thought it had a good mixture of drama, action, funny moments and random moments (find the yodelers? WTF?). Overall, the best premiere episode of TAR ever, although I think it could've benefited from being 90 minutes. Al they need to do now is cut down on Luke footage, bring back the every leg FF, and have a finale like the last two, when they don't do all the tasks then fly to the final city and this season should be awesome. |

have a finale like the last twoIf the finale is anything like TAR12's, I will weep blood. TAR13's sucked after Dandrew were unfairly screwed getting out of the airport and stuck on the zipline for no fault of their own. It'd be good to have a three-team race to the end for a change. |

A Dying Clown wrote:Well, not in terms of the shitty results, I meant having them fly to the final city and then performing the final tasks. Makes it a lot more interesting than doing the final tasks and then flying to the final city, which just makes the whole of the leg up to that point retarded and pointless. |

That was probably the best premire in TAR history. The new editing is a nice change of pace, especially after seeing the exact same thing for 13 seasons.

I was shocked when the new intro was on. After 13 seasons of the same intro it was jarring and a pleasant surprise.
