Hamas is turning every single civilian death into a PR event. Israel needs to fight this war on the PR front first. They are trying desperately to do so, but every time a photograph of a wounded or dead Palestinian baby winds up in my morning paper, they lose this fight. Maybe not with me, but someone out there is feeling outraged by this. Over time, whether it is true or not, the image of dead children and Israel become subtly interlocked. Maybe Israel needs to make sure the dramatic photos of damages to their side of the strip make it on the AP newswire to counteract this propaganda. Yeah, I know, regardless of what Israel does, they will ALWAYS be the devil to many in this world.

By reducing the number of civilian deaths, wouldn't Israel actually win the PR war? And they could use more strategic methods to deal with this problem. There is nothing strategic to gain by killing old ladies and children, except to gain sympathy for Hamas. I really don't think Hamas will throw up their hands and become peaceful because of the civilian deaths. In fact, they will use these deaths to perpetuate their cause. It's a death spiral and neither side wants to be rational. Weasel meet Eagle.

I didn't say they would WIN IT. I stupidly suggested that maybe they could lessen the negative PR by using less destructive methods to get rid of Hamas.
