I don't understand how you can blame the manufacturing of musical artists.
They all flop. They don't get any radio time, and their CD's don't sell.
Popstars had two winners - but who cares because they both were never played.

American Idol may be an exception, but other than Kelly Clarkson, The Baldie, J Hudd, Carrie and a few others.. the rest aren't famous for their music.. or being played at all..

Look at whats being played, Beyonce, A slue of black artists, some other random white bands. Other than possibly Leona Lewis, what other manufactured Group/Artist is really on the mainstream airways right now.

First off, I was talking about Popstars in the UK with Girls Aloud, which have now surpassed the Spice Girls with number 1 singles or some shit.
Also, the Popstars in the US brought us Nicole Swhatever- who's now in a VERY popular manufactured band, The Pussycat Dolls.


The other point that I didn't get to is that yes, record companies did discover that you can manufacture artists well before the 1990's, but in the time period I am describing they became much more blatant about their "artists". (See Britney Spears- who doesn't even sing her own music live)

and finally yes, rap and R&B have completely taken over the airwaves... It was interesting, I was looking at a list of #1 singles from this past decade and like 99.9% of them are from black artists.. The only white artists being, for example Justin Timberlake who thinks he's black anyways...

Oh yes, the UK music scene is FULL of manufactured artists.. they somehow seem to have a longer shelf life than any US winners (although, Girls Aloud have proven to be one of the most successful manufactured artists to date <3 ).

In Norway, The music was awesome because they don't care about how the singer looks like, they care about how they sound like. I get to watch Norway got the talent, the winner was an androgynous weird freak but when he started singer he was like 10,000 times better than any American I dol singers.




On Japan, They use lots of awesome arrangements and their vocals are unique. I wonder why the King of Payolas, which is Sony(a japanese company) records never promoted them in the west. they sound better than any American band of today.
