Honestly, I'd say Paloma was more UTR than Jacquie. At least Paloma had the memorable scene of Corinne asking her name. Plus, Paloma's tribe didn't go to tribal council.

But Paloma only said 1 sentence, and I also do go by the consensus of submitted ratings too: Paloma got 20 INV1s and only 2 UTR1s.

True. In my own intended ratings, they were both INV1 but sometimes I saw depending on what people submit and this is a case where I changed it. Glad you are keeping your own chart - I'm excited that quite a few people are doing that this season.

The reason Jacquie is UTR and not INV like Paloma is because Jacquie is going to win... ...hopefully.

I've said before that I want the winner / the winner's edit to make sense in the story and if for some reason it made sense for the winner to have an UTR1 (or even an INV1 in very, very rare circumstances), then it could happen.

I don't know about winners being UTR in the first episode. On the show it's only happened a couple of times, always to a woman (which I guess bodes well for the UTR1 women this episode) but they were generally unpopular/unsatisfying winners like Amber and Danni and stuff like that. Maybe I'm just a weenie but I've always held that the winner is usually MOR or CP in the first episode.

Here is what each of the winners got in my first episodes:

Brandon = UTR1 (Admittedly, I wasn't that "up" on the Edgic guidelines this season and both Brandon and Lydia had big flaws in their edits. But Brandon's tribe didn't go to TC and his only scene was making fire, I believe)

Tina = OTTP3 (This is probably the worst winner's edit because everything was so "inflated" this season. There were way more CPs and OTTs and tones than there should have been, but at the very least, this was a good introduction to her character)

JP = MORP3 (This was the season when I really started paying attention to the Edgic guidelines and tried to follow them as best as I could. The other two seasons before this one were flawed, but the one "flaw" with JP's edit is that he ended up being the most predictable winner up to this point, and he was on the contenders list every week. Thankfully, he got doubt near the end as Flica built up some steam, but anyway, his first episode edit was also a good introduction to his character, I think)

Stacy = UTR2 (She only had 2 confessionals near the beginning of the episode and then was pretty much not shown at all. She did get the first confessional of the season though. Part of the reason for this edit is that I *did* want to hide the winner more than previously, but she also was not involved in the story and she didn't go to TC)

Candice = CP3 (As I've said a few times recently, I remember next to nothing about this season and I really don't remember anything special that Candice did in the premiere. I think she had one of the first few confessionals and I know she got something during the hike.

I just went and checked the episode: she got the first sentence of the season and the second confessional, which was about her/Jonathan. The rest of her stuff was mostly narration during the hike.)

Dave = MOR3 (Dave mostly played the role of narrator since his tribe didn't go to Tribal Council. Most of his negativity came towards the middle/end of the season, and his confessional count was very low pre-merge, except for Episode 3)

Tracy = CPM4 (Interestingly, and I never would have known this before checking right now, Tracy is the only winner thus far to have a 4 visibility in the premiere, and none have had a 5. She did get some key confessionals (she talked about playing for all of the Fans at home, and wanting to show that the Fans can play at the same level as the Favorites), and she WAS a big part of the story that was going on at the Fans camp, which is why she was shown so much. She had the argument with Mikey B and the leadership story. Obviously, not all winners have been so pertinent to what was going on in Episode 1, especially if they didn't go to TC).

So there's been 2 UTRs, 2 MORs, 2 CPs, and 1 OTT. That doesn't really help much, does it?

There's been 1 visibility 1, 1 visibility 2, 4 visibility 3s, and 1 visibility 4.

There's been 2 positives, 4 neutrals, and 1 Mixed. The winner has never been negative in the first episode, so far.

So there's the statistics , if that will be helpful in any way.

Thanks for those great ratings - I'm glad you will be keeping track of them on your own chart this season.

I felt Jacquie had a presence in the episode. She was shown deciding who to vote for with Marcus. Even though she was in the background, she was still there nonetheless. Paloma I feel was UTR too but then we would have to bump up Bob, Gillian, Marcus & Ken to make their ratings proper.

Jacquie definitely did have a presence, albeit a very subtle and quiet one. We did see her involved in the conversation of who to vote for with Marcus, and she was also mentioned at the very end when Matty said "Talk to Jacquie" which implies that she might have been important in the decision-making.

I did this since a winner can either have the Type A edit or the Type B edit and I don't feel like ignoring certain players just because they don't have a CP/MOR string.

I really like that you're going to keep track of some of the lower visibility players so that they don't get lost in the shuffle, but keep in mind (not just you but everyone else) that prior to Bob winning, I would have given no real thought to a "Type B" winner edit because that really didn't exist until the Gabon Edgic disaster. My season was already planned in full long before that. That doesn't mean there can't be a different kind of winner, but it most likely wouldn't be exactly like "Bob." Hope that makes sense.

An alliance of her/Susie was also shown and if I remember correctly, at the end of Micronesia you said that an alliance made in episode one was a VERY crucial alliance to the story.

It's crucial to be shown in Episode 1. I also mentioned this in the notes: the Susie/Crystal alliance had to be shown because it's what influenced the whole vote when Crystal targeted Kelly to save Susie. Had their alliance not been shown in the premiere, it wouldn't have made sense why Crystal did what she did. Being shown in Ep 1 doesn't necessarily mean the alliance will go far, but as you said, Crystal did get a lot of significant development no matter what. The thing you'll have to watch, though, is that she doesn't become a big distraction.

(3) Randy - Randy got a CP this episode from me. I didn't feel he was N enough to receive the N tone but it was definitely there. Randy could be a distraction but I think he is in for the long haul. He got a very important confessional at the beginning about the game of Survivor being made for him. I think that really helps his winning chances. Again, I don't really know what way his character could end up but he is someone to look out for.

(4) Susie - Now we get into a Type B edit. I gave Susie an OTTM for this episode. I felt she was borderline CP/OTT but I didn't go with MOR since I felt that she was more simplified. Now, edgically an OTTM in the first episode should be eliminated but with a Type B edit, Susie got a good first episode I feel. We know who she is aligned with (Crystal) and it all depends on how good her second episode is.

Tina got an OTTP in the premiere, as did Bob in real Gabon, so 1 OTT is certainly not out of the question.

The last two are probably a long-stretch but I think the first four got very good edits to win. But, I'm not a pro edgicer so I don't know. It mainly depends on episode two.

These are all very well thought-out. Great job! But you're right, a lot of it will depend on Episode 2.

I always do that as well - in fact, usually when I'm doing it, I try to envision the entire season, even where the castaways are sitting/standing in confessionals. I guess I just like to be very visual when I read/write.

Lol. To be fair, it could have been "inserted" though. And I was thinking that he was using meditation to somehow help the tribe get fire, not just that it was some random activity, but I like your interpretation better.

Jeff Probst: <narration> Eighteen Americans embarked on the adventure of a lifetime in Gabon, a remote country in west-central Africa. <Both Marcus and Jacquie can be seen walking over to the left with yellow bags, as Crystal and G.C. both greet each other and Crystal asks "What up?">

Jeff Probst: <narration> As two separate tribes, <A wide view of several castaways with red bags gathering in a group is shown> Fang and Kota, they faced a difficult hike to their camps. <Bob can be seen grabbing Kota's yellow flag, before the camera cuts back to the nine Fang members>

<'Thieves' plays, as the aerial camera shows a wide view of the vast African grassland and two elephants can be seen tromping through the savannah. An overhead view of a large net structure and rope net is then shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Come on in, Fang! <The camera switches angles to show a front view of the nine Fang members walking in to the challenge area, and then zooms in on both Ace and Charlie> Take a spot on your mat… <A clip of the castaways gathering into a group on their red mat is shown, before the camera focuses back in on Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Kota, come on in! <The nine Fang members can now be seen turning their heads, as the camera shows the eight Kota members walking up the grassy path>

Jeff Probst: <narration> G.C. and Bob have their flag! <A wide view of the rope web is shown, as the two men begin to make their way down. The camera then switches angles to show Dan and Corinne running back down Fang's red ramp>

Paloma: <excitedly> Yeah! <Corinne and Dan arrive back to the red mat, as an exhausted Corinne leans forward and rests her hands on her knees>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Marcus and Jacquie comin' back with the second flag for Kota! <A clip of Marcus and Jacquie jumping down off the bottom of the web is shown> They've given Kota the lead! <The camera now switches angles to show the remaining Fang members>

Dan: <shouting> Let's go, guys! <The camera cuts back to Michelle and Paloma, as they reach their red "A" flag and Michelle grabs it>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Fang has their second flag! <A wide view of the course is then shown, as Marcus and Jacquie can be seen racing back towards their tribemates>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Jacquie and Marcus just made up a lot of time! <Several Kota members are shown cheering, as Marcus and Jacquie arrive back at Kota's mat>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Michelle and Paloma takin' a long time getting back! <The camera now switches angles to show Gillian standing on the sidelines>

Gillian: <shouting> Come on, guys! Keep going! <The camera now switches angles to show an overhead view of the entire challenge area, as Paloma and Michelle run back to their mat>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Paloma and Michelle now back with the second flag for Fang! <Randy and Ace can be seen quickly sprinting ahead, as Randy stumbles and then recovers>

Jeff Probst: <narration> We are tied: two, two. <Ace and Randy now race up the red ramp> Randy and Ace on the course for Fang! <Crystal and Sugar are then shown making their way across the cargo net run, as Crystal quickly pulls Sugar behind her>

Crystal: <to Sugar> Hustle… <Crystal now begins to climb up the rope web>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Crystal really pulling Sugar! <The camera continues to focus on Sugar and Crystal for a few seconds, as Crystal reaches up and grabs the yellow "T" flag>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Crystal and Sugar have their flag! They're heading back! <A rapid clip of the other six Kota members clapping and cheering is then shown>

Matty: Nice, Crystal! Come on, girls! <A view of Randy and Ace frantically climbing the web is then shown, as Ace quickly grabs Fang's red "N" flag>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Ace and Randy looking to put Fang back in the lead! <Both pairs of castaways can be seen climbing back down the web. Gillian is shown again>

Gillian: <shouting> Go, Fang! <Ace and Randy are then shown running back across the cargo net, as they both fall and roll forward>

Randy: <to Ace> Don't stop! Don't stop! <The two men quickly climb back to their feet, as race down the red ramp, before the camera scrolls back over to Crystal and Sugar again>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Fang back! <Randy and Ace now arrive back on Fang's mat> Fang leads: three, two! <Ken and Charlie can be seen racing out onto the course. Sugar and Crystal are then shown running down the ramp for Kota>

Sugar: <talking aloud> We're catching up! <The two Kota women now arrive back at their mat>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Sugar and Crystal have the third flag for Kota! <Matty and Susie can now be seen running ahead> The final pair for Kota is Susie and Matty! <The camera then switches angles to show both Ken and Charlie running across the cargo net together>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Matty tryin' to pick it up for Kota! Susie slowin' him down! <Susie now falls forward onto the met, as Matty grabs her and tries to pull her ahead>

Matty: <to Susie> Come on… <Jacquie can be heard "Susie, go, girl!" before the camera switches angles to show Ken and Charlie racing back across the net>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Big Reward on the line! Somebody's goin' to Exile! <Charlie and Ken now race down the red ramp, as their Fang tribemates can be seen clapping>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Gotta get back to your mat! Then you can hang the flags! <The camera shows a rapid clip of Matty and Susie making their way up the net, before Matty reaches up and grabs Kota's final flag. Charlie and Ken then arrive back at Fang's mat>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Ken and Charlie are back! <The music speeds up and becomes more dramatic, as the camera shows Corinne handing the red flags to Charlie>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Charlie's gonna hang the flags! <A rapid clip of Charlie is shown, as

he hangs the first two red flags onto Fang's flagpole. The camera then shows Matty and Susie slowly climbing back down their net, before cutting back to Fang again. Charlie can then be seen hanging the final flag, as shouting and cheering is heard>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Fang has their four flags! <The remaining Fang members now race over to their turnstile> Now they gotta raise 'em! <A view of the four "FANG" flags hanging from the red flagpole is shown, before the castaways begin to turn their turnstile>

Dan: <shouting> Yeah, Fang! We got this! <The camera continues to focus on the excited Fang members for a few seconds, as they frantically spin their turnstile. Their flags begin to rise, before the camera switches angles to show Gillian standing up and cheering>

Gillian: Alright! You guys are great! <The music becomes more dramatic, as the camera shows the anxious Fang members turning their turnstile, and their flags reach the top of the flagpole>

Jeff Probst: <shouting> Fang wins Reward! <'Heroes' plays, as the overjoyed Fang members raise their arms victoriously and erupt with thunderous cheers. The castaways can then be seen hugging excitedly, before the camera focuses in on Ace, Charlie, and Michelle>

Ace: Good job, guys! Really nice! <Gillian now races over to join in their celebrating, before a prominent drumbeat is heard, and the camera turns to the disappointed Kota members>

Susie: Good try, guys. <A close-up view of Matty is shown> We gave it our best… <G.C. can be heard saying "It's alright," as an overjoyed Paloma shouts "Yay!" Jeff is then shown>

Jeff Probst: Fang, congratulations! <Jeff points to the Reward items> Fishing supplies. <A wide view of the Fang tribe is shown> Now you have a big decision to make: <short pause> who from the Kota tribe do you want to send to Exile? <Marcus is shown looking towards the Fang tribe> Before you make your decision, we'll get to the twist I told you about: <The camera focuses back in on Jeff> On Exile, you will also find a hut, <The camera fades out to show a clip of the wooden hut at Exile> complete with hammock, pillows, fruit, <A rapid clip of Paloma is shown> and other comfort items to make your stay out there more pleasant. <Sugar is shown listening intently> If you take that comfort, there's a consequence: <Susie can be seen shifting her expression> your entire tribe will be given a penalty; <A thoughtful-looking Charlie is then shown> that is a disadvantage for the next Immunity Challenge. <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera scrolls across several Fang members, and then returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: It won't be impossible for you to win, but it's gonna be more difficult. <G.C. is then shown staring ahead> So the question for the person exiled is gonna be: <short pause> do you think selfishly and spend your two nights living in comfort, <The camera focuses in on Corinne, as she subtly nods her head> or do you rough it out on Exile, thus ensuring that the rest of your tribe has an equal shot at winning Immunity? <Randy can be seen tensing his expression, before the camera scrolls back over to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Tough decision; <short pause> tough game… <A wide view of Sugar, Bob, and Marcus is shown, before the camera zooms out to show the entire Kota tribe>

Randy - CONFESSIONAL: This new twist for Exile? You'd have to be an idiot to take comfort at this point. <The camera shows a view of the nine Fang members listening intently> You know, two nights of sleeping on a hammock and, you know, getting the royal treatment, is not worth costing your tribe Immunity. <The camera zooms in on Paloma> Anybody who does that shouldn't even be in this game, in my opinion, but <long pause> with these morons, you never know… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows a close-up view of Corinne>

Jeff Probst: Alright, Fang: <short pause> who, from the Kota tribe, do you want to send to Exile? <The camera now shows the entire Fang tribe huddling together>

Dan: <whispering> It has to be someone weak so they'll take the comfort… <The camera shows Ace subtly nodding his head and then turns to Ken, as indistinct conversation is heard>

Ken: Send Susie… <Another castaway says "Yeah," as the camera turns back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Fang, who's it gonna be? <A rapid view of the entire Kota tribe is shown, before the camera switches angles to show the nine Fang members again>

Ken: We're gonna send Susie, Jeff… <The camera shows Susie tensing her expression>

Jeff Probst: Susie goin' to Exile. <The camera now shows Crystal staring into the distance with a pensive look on her face> Get your stuff and head out. <Susie can be heard saying "Bye, guys," as she steps forward and begins to walk away from her tribemates>

Jacquie: Bye, Susie; <short pause> good luck! <Another castaway now says "Take it easy">
