Saw "Benjamin Button" tonight. I would put it in the category of movies like "Big Fish" and "O Brother Where Art Thou" of movies that were fantastical, yet entertaining and served as pseudo-allegories for our lives. I thought it was an interesting watch, but definitely nothing worthy of Oscars (after what I've heard about Slumdog and Doubt and seeing the trailer to Revolutionary Road). I don't know, I guess the cinematography was above average, probably worthy of an Oscar nod. I agree with Brad Pitt's assessment as wooden. I feel like he decided to play the old man stage as slow and deliberate and then echoed that onto his entire character. Like Forrest Gump without charisma. I liked Cate Blanchett, thought she did her part well for what it's worth.
Hoping to see more buzzworthy movies before break, specifically Slumdog, Revolutionary Road, and maybe Doubt.
