Phoenix is okay, but it will go in a gutter soon.

I've been there to visit several times and I could see myself living there. It's a big'ish town without really seeming that big.
That said, I've only been there during winter. It might suck during the summer, but I imagine it's like winter in the midwest/northeast--everyone just stays indoors all the time anyway. |

CRA, maybe you're confusing Phoenix and Houston? Houston is the one with the cheap house prices - we looked into moving to Phoenix at one point and a house
like the one with have in Houston would be double or triple the cost in Houston compared to Tucson
I've lived in Tucson and Phoenix and my husband grew up in Phoenix - both of us agree that Tucson >>>>> Phoenix. Mt Lemon and the rest of the mountains around Tucson alone make it much better, plus it's way easier to get around in and the climate runs about 10 degF cooler. Not to mention that it's a bit more liberal. |

i lived in central phoenix from 1995-2000. madison school district was great, lots of things to do both with and w/o kids. the crime and poverty really started
rising and so we decided to move elsewhere but we all still miss a lot of what phoenix has to offer but ecomonic/business opportunites are zilch. is disco
denny's still open?

I love Tucson and hope to retire someday and live in the Catalina foothills. My husband's grandparents lived in there and we visited often during the
years. The visits made such an impression on my youngest that she decided to go UA figuring that it was just as easy to study where it's warm and sunny as
it is where it's cold and gloomy. I'll take a desert full of sanguaro over trees any day. Yes, it's a cowtown but the restaurant and shopping
scene has improved dramatically over the years.

it's hotter than the hinges of hell but you get used to it. no perspiration, it evaporates immediately. don't walk barefoot on your driveway in summer.

I think I'd prefer AZ to FL.
All you do all year in FL is sweat constantly. Humidity is the DEVIL! However, I HATEHATEHATE Southwest decor and shit like that. EW GROSS! |

I used to travel to Phoenix a lot for work and I always enjoyed it. I've been there at all times of the year including 2 weeks in July (HOT HOT HOT)
but we'd work all day then go to the pool. We were mostly in the Scottsdale area, which is gorgeous, and sometimes in Tempe.

Used to travel to Phoenix all the time too. Been there just about every month of the year. Love it. I'll take the heat from hell any day over freezing.

Last time I was there, it was April and 115 degF already - about 8 pm that night I realized I hadn't had to pee all day and I'd been drinking copious
amounts of soda - that's how dry it is
sucks all the moisture out of your skin and turns you into a wizened prune after a while |
