I love Tucson and hope to retire someday and live in the Catalina foothills. My husband's grandparents lived in there and we visited often during the years. The visits made such an impression on my youngest that she decided to go UA figuring that it was just as easy to study where it's warm and sunny as it is where it's cold and gloomy. I'll take a desert full of sanguaro over trees any day. Yes, it's a cowtown but the restaurant and shopping scene has improved dramatically over the years.

Meanwhile when the oldest graduated she got a terrific job offer in Phoenix and moved there. She loves it even if she has to get up at 5 am to run in the summer months. There certainly seems to be a lot to do if you're young and employed. But I'm not so sure I'd move there without a job lined up first although she says the ecomony there is still pretty good with the exception of real estate and construction.
