Then there is something unhelpful in the guidelines, when they mislead people in seasons like S11 and S17.
There's an implicit assumption here that it is possible to construct a set of guidelines that will work 100% of the time.
IMO, that is not a realistic goal because editing is not that formulaic - the editors have to play the cards that they are dealt. This means, among other things, giving the audience an understanding of how the winner ultimately triumphed, while providing "entertainment".
Bob's edit was not typical for a winner, in part because this was not a typical season (typical in the sense that the contestants that made it to the end were all attempting to maximize their chances to win).
Could we have another season like this? Yes.
Are we likely to? IMO, probably not.
Let's keep this in mind before we do radical surgery on the guidelines.
