Todd and Sandra are still better than failures like Amber, Ethan, Bob and Aras who won because of either circumstances that would NEVER happen again, or because everyone but bigger failures were eliminated before the finals, where they someone looked best.
To group Ethan in with the likes of Amber and Bob, is bad. Amber won because the jury was spiteful. Bob won because the Onions hated Sugar and Susie was annoying, or something. Aras kind of got lucky with numbers.
Ethan played the UTR strategy perfectly, he let Lex yell about a vote and win immunities, while Ethan sat in the shadows and played the nice guy card, which got him the win. He also took out Silas, which crippled the Young Samburus, (although Lindsey was voted out w/o his input), which led to there being 2 Young and 2 Old Samburus, who couldn't stand eachother and refused to vote together (maybe not T-Bird, but definitely Frank and Brandon,) which, although Lex made a crucial error with the Kelly vote, allowed the Boran 4 to sweep to the final 4. Although probably not his intention, it helped that to happen.
If the Borans and Ethan, their interim leader, had voted for Frank and sided with Silas:
-Silas rejoins Kim P. and Brandon (assuming Lindsey is still voted out,) and join with T-Bird, who was somewhat apathetic to the youngsters, and probably pull in outcast Kelly or Clarence.
- While comparing notes, the 5 find out who has the most votes, and, because it would either be a tie (where the person with the most votes would go home, who, if Samburu made the right decision,, which would be Tom) or a 6-4 vote (if Clarence joined Kelly, Samburu) and Tom would be gone. Then it is 6-3, and the Boran 4 are systematically eliminated, ending Ethan's game.
This is where he and Aras differentiate; Aras always had numbers, but Ethan didn't, cause Lex gave that up. But if not for the Silas vote, which Ethan organized through his social skills, he and his alliance would be picked off.
That was a huge vote, and whether he had the hindsight to make or a lucky choice, it was a big one, which really helped him get to the end, and with his charm, win him 1 million dollars.
Ethan was a big boy, he didn't ride coattails, like Amber, and didn't get lucky, like Bob or Sandra (who would be a pre-merge boot if on a losing tribe,)
