I know its old news and shit, But I never knew the EXTENT of the "Mactors" on the show before. (I don;t believe that crap by the way that out of the Hundreds of Thousands of applications they couldn;t find suitable contestests. I really think they just got to many applications and just got overwhelmed and its easier for them to go looking and recruit and they have more "control".) Its really changed since Season 1 or 2 at least they were "sort of" real people. And now there seems to be so many set ups, and obvious reshoots and shit. Has Surivor lost "REALITY" credibilty to anyone else? I mean Jesus Sugar has more acting credits outside Survivor than Probst. And all they say is she's just a "Pin-Up Model"

That's true, but there have been "reshoots"(if the cameramen missed something interesting) since the first season. Gabon has been better than
other recent seasons concerning "mactors"; half are recruits and half applied.

Yeah I think you're right. After season 3 or 4 it really stopped being a mainstream phenomenon. At that point we really just became the equivalent of
Star Trek nerds.

To keep the thread on topic, mactors have now become a staple of the show.. so much that they grossly outnumber actual applicants. It's lame but some of them do end up being great characters. Either way, the whole point of recruiting was to bring in interesting, "fresh" personalities who wouldn't have been found via traditional casting... yet we still get boring, unremarkable contestants year after year. |
