As someone who sees himself as a patriotic Canadian (and perhaps, what I may say may totally contradict that), I think that the option of separatism may be an option that should be possibly explored.. or a change in governance maybe? Weaker central government? Of course that will never happen.. considering it's decentralized enough compared to the other states in the world.

This is too large of a country to be able to function as a whole. The west is totally different from the east economically, and one policy which may be a positive effect on one side, will destroy the other. We've seen it before (the NEP) and we'll see it again. I personally don't want to see Dion and his crazy policies, like the now-dead Green shift plan destroy the Albertan economy.. and even exempt Ontario's manufacturing industry from the taxes he planned to impose out west. Totally ridiculous. This country is centered around Ontario and Quebec, and I am tired of it. I don't blame Ontarians or Quebecers. Them holding like half of Canada's population, and thus holding all the political power isnt exactly their fault. I blame the system we have in place.

I'm liberal but can't even vote Liberal, because they totally ignore anything coming from the west. I have to vote conservative, because they are the only party I trust (who's values I don't really agree with) to keep the West safe and sound economically.. And it's pretty much all about the economy. It's not like I have any other choice. No one out there to really represent my views and interests. Sad.
