22. The Mean Girls (Dumbo)
Moving on to a very deserving last spot for Villains, we have the bitchy elephants from Dumbo. Seriously, wtf is wrong with them to pick on an innocent, little baby right to his face and in front of his mother no less and say things like "he's got ears only a mother could love"? Who says such awful things about a baby? I think you would have to be a pretty damn petty, insecure and evil person (er...elephant) to stoop so low to pick on someone who obviously can't stand up for himself. And what did Dumbo ever do to them anyway? In some ways, I find them to be the most "evil" characters in any Disney movie. But for an evil character to work, they have to also be interesting, entertaining or complex. These nasty elephants were none of the above - they were just infuriating. I loved the part where Dumbo messes up their stunt and they all end up getting injured (and of course, they had to be all "poor me" about it) and the part at the end where he spits peanuts out his trunk at them. Still, another reason I think Dumbo deserves a sequel is so that grown up Dumbo could whoop the snot out of the mean girls if they even look at him or his mother the wrong way!


21. The Hunters (Bambi)
I couldn't find a picture of the hunters from Bambi. Why? Because they don't have any screen time what so ever. They do shoot Bambi's mother though (which in real life wouldn't make them evil since hunters shoot deer all the time for food and such) and they also some how start a big forest fire at the end of the movie. Oh, and their dogs (who had more screen time than the actual hunters did) were kind of scary too. Meh.




20. Captain Hook (Peter Pan)
Okay, I know I might get some flack for rating Captain Hook this low, but hear me out here. So, supposedly Captain Hook and Peter Pan and everyone else have been in Neverland for all of eternity, right? And pretty much all Hook does is try to find Peter Pan and his hideout (he said so himself). Now, I'm assuming Neverland isn't all that big of a place and Peter Pan/the Lost Boy's hideout is actually in a pretty obvious place. Yet some how, he only managed to find it with Tinkerbell's help (and capturing Tinkerbell was another idea he JUST came up with, aparently). You'd think if he had been looking all the time for all eternity, he'd know where the hell Peter Pan's hideout is...What a competant villain. Not! Plus, he's afraid of a crocodile. Could you see Ursula or Scar or Hades or someone being scared of a crocodile? I couldn't.

9. Pooh (Winnie the Pooh)
Aw, man! The rankings are getting more and more difficult. I almost hate choosing between anyone in the top ten, but unfortunately, it has to be done! Anyway, how can you not love Pooh? This silly old bear who is stuffed-with-fluff is a kind hearted character and a good friend to all. Unlike neurotic Rabbit/Piglet and always depressed Eeyore, Pooh is a happy character who usually doesn't have a care in the world. He's a jolly, cheerful bear who just goes with the flow and is happy spending time with his buddies. He loves food, especially honey and though he often gets himself in trouble, he usually means well. Sure, he's not very smart, but let's face it, who is in the Hundred Acre Wood (with the exception of Owl)? Anyway, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day and as such, I like the older Winnie the Pooh movies the best (Blustery Day and A Day for Eeyore especially), but some of his newer movies are fun too (especially Pooh's Grand Adventure where he and the gang try to rescue Christopher Robin from the evil School/Skull). Pooh also had a pretty good TV series for awhile (The "New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh") which I was obsessed with for awhile. So, anyway, Pooh is definitely a deserving character and a sentimental favorite of mine who will always hold a special place in my heart. <3




8. Lilo (Lilo and Stitch)
Lilo, like many Disney protagonists, is somewhat of a social outcast. However, unlike some characters where its kind of ambiguous why they don't fit in, with Lilo, its pretty obvious. She's kind of a freak. How much of a freak? Well, in the very first scene we meet her in, she is late for her hula performance because she was busy feeding a peanut butter sandwich to Pudge the pufferfish because she is convinced he has the power to control the weather. No, really. And she just gets stranger from there. She has an obsession with Elvis, makes voodoo dolls of her "friends" (who are actually the little bitches who pick on her in hula class) and has a stuffed animal called Scrap (I think that's its name - I'll have to watch it again) who aparently has spider eggs in its ears. All of these traits make Lilo the quirkiest Disney protagonist by far, but weird as she is, she's relatable as well. She's a lonely little girl who has no friends, no parents and a bossy older sister who has to work all the time to support her and she considers family ("Ohana") very important. Lilo has a good heart and sees the good in Stitch and tries to help him find his inner goodness. Unfortunately, when they made a TV series of Lilo and Stitch, she kind of turned into a brat. I can't hold it too much against her though, because in general, the TV series was pretty lame.




7. Quasimodo (The Hunchback of Notredame)
So, for someone who is supposed to be so ugly, I think he's kind of cute in a weird way. Mostly though, the cuteness comes from his personality. Quasimodo may look scary, but he's a kind, bashful and gentle guy who will do anything to protect his friends. Like many protagonists, Quasi just wants to be normal, but finds this hard, not only because of the way he looks, but also because his "master" Frollo keeps him locked away from the world and tells him that people are cruel and wicked. Despite what he has been told, Quasimodo finds people fascinating and enjoys watching them from his balcony. He also makes little models of them that he keeps in his room. After meeting Esmeralda and Phoebus, Quasimodo discovers that people can indeed be good and that they don't all run away in terror at the sight of him. Though he doesn't like to fight and is normally gentle, Quasi is pretty strong when he wants to be. When he finally strikes out against Frollo, he is more than a match for his "master." I think all in all, Quasimodo is one of the most interesting protagonists with some of the best development. His relationship to the main villain is one we don't often see and its psychologically fascinating.
