The female racers should have been so offended by those sexist. I guess women aren't allowed to publicly show themselves to men in whatever religion that
is, so they had to wear those ridiculous veils because, you know, women are inferior and all.
AND Dandrew got to run in w/o having to stop for veils! How unfair!!! |

Except that religion chooses to degrade people on levels of sexism, and people shouldn't be forced to partake.

I would have no problem draping a simple veil over my head if I were in a country that required it. It's simple respect. And I thought Leslie on Survivor
China was very disrespectful. I'm quite sure Budhism was none of the Survivors' religion, yet they all went through the ceremony without issue.
Whether it be religion or laws, you respect where you are or don't go. Just like I would never move to another country and say, Screw your rules and laws. I'm going to live in your country by my own rules. Just like the illegal immigrants do here. And we pretty much all have a problem with that; don't we? They're in our country, we expect them to live by our rules. |

Traditionally women in Catholic churches cover their heads. Most orthodox religions do. |

I felt kind of weird about that priest who is probably one of the most beloved members of his community being given the menial task of handing out the clues.

That isn't sexist. It's from the old testament belief that woman are to wear prayer coverings. The church is just following the OT beliefs.

I'm sure that putting on a veil slowed them down a whole 15 seconds. How unfair.
FREEDOM OF RELIGION.As far as I know, nothing in our constitution protects a U.S. citizen against oppressive or unfair traditions imposed by a private monastery (I'm assuming it was not government-owned or operated) in a foreign country. And since TAR is not a government-owned show, they have the right to force these folks to do anything they want as a condition of the race. It's a question of contract, not constitutional rights. |

I thought for a minute that this thread was about how the monastery was sexy in that they lit a bunch of candles, put on some chanting-monk music and poured
some wine for the ladies. Then I read it was sexist, not sexiEst.
Um, it may seem sexist to you, but at least respect the religious differences of other cultures. I find it horrible to diss another religion just because you disagree with the women putting clothes on their heads. And besides, it was in a house of God, and if that's the way to respect the Almighty is for women to cover their head, so be it. But don't say it's sexist, because it's not. |

I also can't believe why women have to go through the long and arduous task of giving birth! Or why they have to go to hair salons so many more times than guys do! Or why that outfit makes their arse look big! God is so sexist. |
