I'll run past the ratings, I don't really care about them right now...
Bob MORP3 Charlie MOR4 Corinne MORN3 Crystal OTT2 Ken CPM4 Matty CPP3 Randy OTTN4 Sugar MOR3 Susie UTRP1 Unfortunately, this episode didn't do much to eliminate either Matty or Kenny. Actually, I don't think you can even eliminate Crystal at this point, despite her edit being a little too OTT. I always felt Matty didn't get enough at the beginning to be the winner, but I'm gonna give him the edge right now. I feel like Kenny has evolved into the new Marcus - the perfect, if obvious, contender. Matty is still getting a great edit, he's got great content in every episode, but just a little in Kenny's shadow. Winners: 1. Matty 2. Kenny -gap- 3. Crystal P.S. Wow, this is really a great season now. Five of the final eight characters are TV gold. |

It doesn't take an Edgic expert to tell the Kenny wins after random ass statements likeCirie got a great personal development edit but didn't win. I don't see that necessarily as the hallmark of a winner. Who all got such edits in the past? |

Nobag? Seriously? Wow. Though more creative than combining the former tribe names, it still sounds terrible.
Nobag Bob - Gives insight on position at the bottom, knows he's next to go, wants to find idol to stay alive, needs the merge and actually gets it - CPP3 debateable OTTP3 due to the onenote nature of saving his own skin. Charlie - Had some narration, none of it too memorable, on the receiving end of Ken's wrath, the random boot target - MOR4 Corrine - Narrated her view on the things, nothing too complex. Called people stupid, doesn't care about anyone that's not Charlie or Marcus, yet gets a nice scene with a native girl; Corrine can be nice sometimes too, still a superbitch, but not completely this episode - MORM3 Crystal - Was nowhere all episode until a brief strategy session before Tribal and then an explosion at Tribal; had negative things said about her by Randy, but that's RANDY - UTR2 (emphasis on the neutral) Ken - A lot of personal development and strategy, yet shown to be very arrogant - CP4 debateable CPN4 due to level of arrogance (mainly because my friend HATES Ken with a passion and I can kinda see it) Matty - Needs to save himself and really enjoys the reward scene - MORP3 debateable OTTP3 Randy - Really hates Crystal; is extremely cocky; plus his flip-out challenge scene - OTTN4 Sugar - Knows she's the swing vote, but no real insight into her decision despite that she doesn't trust anyone; reminds that she has the idol - MOR3 Susie - Won immunity; got a lot of facetime from that - UTR2 debateable UTR1 Winning chances - Still down to Ken and Matty with Crystal and Randy as long shots due their distractive nature. Corrine and Sugar as being watched, but highly HIGHLY unlikely due to INV1's and OTT potential/history. |

Bob OTTP3
Charlie MOR4 Corinne OTT3: one-dimensional despite tone swings Crystal MOR2 Ken CP4: I'm assuming he'll get some doubt in upcoming episodes, but this was a perfect lead-in to a feel-good story of the nerdy boy who grew up, blossoming into a complete human being, etc., "on ... Survivor." Matty MORP3: the Ozzy comparisons are apt. Randy CPN4 Sugar UTRP3 Susie UTR2 Winner: Ken |

I think you've misinterpreted my post. :)
I'm not positing anything about how the editors were going to edit - if anything I was commenting on how the editing did change this last episode. No longer are the Fangs labeled as pathetic in the recap - now they are underdogs. No longer does Randy look particularly prophetic or strategic, just grumpy and negative. Ken's edit in particular had a huge change. I based my post on the assumption that he does win (because I still lean that way), but I fully acknowledged at the end that he may be getting set up for a fall. This whole episode felt like the editors saying, "In case you missed it, watch Ken for the win." You say I've been duped. Perhaps, but not based on this last episode, which I actually saw as detrimental for Ken's chances. However, it was easily worse for Randy's already slim chances, and I'm just not that sold on Matty, let alone Sugar. Edited because my grammar was confusing and not making the point I was trying to make. |

I've been reading Edgic for a longgg time now. Always come here after watching an episode to read the in depth and interesting discussions. My first attempt at doing ratings... Be gentle.... Bob - OTTP3
Winner
Does my vote count for being a first time poster? :) |

Matty vs. Ozzy
Ozzy was the "fish/money" boy in the first half and then was actually quiet in the second half of CI. Matt's status keeps getting more and more positive. He's the lovable one we are all supposed to be rooting for 'til the end. He gets more and more face time every week and we are constantly getting more and more focus on his perspective of the world around him. He keeps thinking he's the one to go but is never mentioned. They are very different. But in this season, anything is possible. |

Also, I can't imagine they would call this episode "The Brains Behind Everything" and establish Kenny as such a blatant winner unless there were turbulent waters ahead. The "Brains Behind Everything" was said about Charlie (i.e. the boot), not Kenny. |

Well, ratings based on first watch:
My visibility ratings are all gonna be from Warrior's chart. Nobag Bob - OTTP Charlie - MOR Corrine - CPN Crystal - UTR Ken - CPP Matty - MORP Randy - OTTN Sugar- UTRP(?) Susie-UTR Ken's going to win this one, he have pretty much everything a winner needs - a coherensive edit (he's the underdog who's growing), other players (even players who are against him) give him respect, he has ties to the endgame and a lot more ties to the jury than any other player around. The lack of jury connections is what detracts from Matty's edit. Winner: Ken (Gap) Matty (Gap) Randy - the only way he's gonna win this is if he gets some sort of big redemption arc. |

ps: I am already aware of the many distinctions between Amy and Ken ( although they do both have that cocky "I've got this game in the bag" attitude ), so there's no need for anyone to clarify them to me.

Bob - CPP3 - I feel that we got more into Bob's head here than before. I can see OTTP but I think that he was shown as more than that.
Charlie - MORP4 - I think he was edited fairly positively with the RC scene and at tribal even though the majority of the rest of his edit was all about Marcus. Corinne - MORM3 - As much as I wanted to give her an OTTN, I had to include the damn reward scene with the child which eliminated some of the negativity. It also showed another side to her which takes away the OTT rating so I feel that MORM is the only rating that makes sense. Crystal - UTRN2 - We did see a lot of the negativity from Crystal for her tribal council performance and being called out as the reason why Fang was bad before. UTR because she was surprisingly neglected up until TC. Ken - CP4 - That boat scene and all of the Ken's all grown up and not a little kid anymore comments are making me think, did the editors just try to make something too obvious again. I hope they didnt because I would love a Ken win. Matty - MORP3 - He knew that he would be the next to go if they lost another immunity challenge so he had to be moved from OTT and I dont think we got enough insight for a CP. Randy - OTTNN4 - Calling someone a bitch as you vote them out is the easiest way to earn a NN in my book. Sugar - MOR3 - No P this time, she was just a swing vote whose head we didnt get inside. Susie - UTR1 - I was ecstatic when she won the IC but I want them to show her. WINNER: I think it has to be Kenny at this point. Kenny is getting the credit for all of these blindsides and he is shown as having many more scenes that arent focused on the game at all. The termite scene in the first episode was great for his chances and I cant believe that I missed this until now. Matty is a distant second since he is just getting the Gabon is beautiful confessionals, Ken is getting far more character building scenes which makes me think he'll take it all the way. |

Definitely, skoffing (if I can call you that), the title is meant on both levels. Charlie is targeted because Ken paints him as the "brains behind
everything", but in so doing, Ken presents himself as the real "brains behind everything". In past seasons, the titles often had double
meanings like this.
Don't worry about saying I was duped. I was just amused, mainly because I share the same doubts about the way Ken's position was portrayed this last episode. I still think he wins, but I don't think it will be the easy path to victory it seems right now. When Marcus was booted, I worried that perhaps I had ruled out Randy too quickly because I could see a storyline arise where he could still win. Perhaps that is still the case, but this last episode's edit didn't really support that line of thinking at all. I'm only leaving a crack open for him at this point. |

TheLurkerSpeaks wrote: You may :) And although I might be fighting tooth and nail for Randy, I wholeheartedly agree with your quote. However, much like ep 9 told us where all the players were going to fall in relation to their alliances ( a classic merge ep ), ep 10 will tell us what we need to know about Randy's future in Gabon. |

Skoff (that's my abreviation) in regards to the Kota as angels and Fang as um, well the opposite... do you think some of that is based on Marcus having
such an obvious winner's edit (ala Earl, Tom, Yul)?
On the rewatch marathon last weekend, after Marcus left -I only noticed Sugar and Bob getting the attention of good intentions. Most of Kota was about duping Bob, and the importance of layers, and Corine admitting she hates these people. Gillian is the one who tells Fang after their first two loses, that they are still hanging in there and just need to be more positive and work together as a team. That seems to be the central message and is then recalled in the Half Time meeting -"We can't tell anyone," (about Sugar's idol); "Clean slate", "Don't let anyone (them) get in your head", "You guys are survivors." In regards to Randy -obviously he's tied to Crystal (but that is taken care of based on the last TC and could be a big component during the jury questioning)- but also he's foreshadowed to Sugar for some kind of payoff -the two inserts of Sugar's "he's an ugly person" and Randy's "rocket scientist" comment about her idol. Also, the inclusion of Sugar telling Corrine that Randy needs to go makes me think they will be involved in some head to head. Either Randy works with her and Matty after Corrine leaves making it ironic -or he's the one that falls to her idol. |

I'm really not understanding the Ps for Sugar.
If Kenny ends up winning this, which is looking very possible, he may end up being my least favorite winner ever. At least it's been entertaining so far, hopefully they can keep it up. |

I'm really not understanding the Ps for Sugar.Me too, except ep.3. She was alligned with badass Ace which I'm sure alienated lots of people (Kelly), then she's giving him the idol, then she's tricked into betraying him, now she betrays Kota. She has a thing for Matty. She's not a rational player. Could well end up like Christy or Dolly, if she's not blindsided because she has the idol. PS: She reminds me of someone that screwed my alliance in an ORG. |
