I think if he were white, he wouldn't be the Democratic candidate and we'd be seeing a very different race (pun intended). Will it change my vote? No, I'll still vote for Obama because I don't like McCain and Palin. But I think Obama is the Democratic candidate and the forerunner in this race primarily BECAUSE of skin color. I think there's a lot of white guilt out there (I have my fair share) and a lot of people who think it's time to see a black man in the White House because the old white guys have fucked us all. Does that make him the better candidate? I don't know. But if Obama is where he is because of his skin color, I'm not sure that helps resolve the issue of race in this country or validates it. Only time will tell. You may all tell me to go fuck myself now. (I'm joking with you of course)

The problem with politicians who pander too much (McCain, Hillary) is that they're only in it for themselves and have no principles. How can McCain pander to Israel supporters, then pick a VP who has a Jews for Jesus preacher? And his blaming Wall St. for being greedy sounds a lot like blaming jews for the economy. McCain can't win. People want a leader, not a Panderer in Chief.

I hope you can extricate yourself from your self-righteousness for a little bit to realize that. As for your latest question: I can undestand that people would consider me left-leaning, since I'm clearly not voting Republican this year. But I don't throw out Rush's name at every chance - not by a long shot. If someone is arguing sincerely for conservatism, I'll engage them fairly. Hell, I'll likely agree with them on many points - I didn't vote conservative in the past for shits and giggles. I've never had a problem with debating fairly with anyone - as long as the same courtesy is given to me. If someone is just throwing out the obvious cartoonish generalities, I'll mock them. That's honestly where I'm coming from. The funny thing is - I never really see you engage me when I'm being rational and debating fairly... the only time you pop up is when I mock. Do you think those statements aren't blatant overgeneralizations? You don't think they're meant only to paint people unfairly into little corners without considering the fact that most of the issues we argue about on these boards have a shit load of grey area? I think many people are voting Dem simply because they need someone to blame for the economic downturn, and that has to be the party in office. Personally, I don't find Obama charismatic or inspiring; I find him very off-putting. In the same way some of you don't like Palin, I don't like Obama because he comes across to me as a clueless snob who's never really done anything. I certainly haven't heard him say anything new or interesting. If Hilary were running, I'd probably vote Dem. I also have a fear that Obama will win with 50% -49% and then claim that he has a 'mandate' to change America. I suspect that when Obama is president, the country will really be run by Congress. I don't think people like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have much respect for the young affirmative action baby.
