I flew to LA and met Chad McQueen at LAX. For those of you who don't know who Chad McQueen is, he is Steve McQueen's son and he played Cobra Kai badass, "Dutch", in the 1984 classic, The Karate Kid.
At dusk, we get to this party at Newport Beach. Not sure why I flew into LAX and not Orange County Airport. Maybe it'sbecause Pittsburgh doesn't offer a direct flight to OC,but I digress. As we're walking down the beach, we approach a group of people. One of them runs up to me and greets me with a hug. It was Ralph Macchio, STAR of the 1984 classic, The Karate Kid. Ralph and Chad both looked exactly as they did back in 1984. I think I was the only personwho had aged. It was at this point that I realized who I was ... I was the person who played "Johnny" in the 1984 classic The Karate Kid! I mean, I was me. I was not William Zabka who played Johnny. I played Johnny, and apparently this beach party was a Karate Kid cast member reunion!
"It's been forever", Ralph Macchio said to me.
"I know. Where is Pat Morita?", I asked him.
"He's dead, man. Hey! I told the DJ you were coming and he's playing your favorite song", said Ralph.
Just then, the DJ of the party started playing this:
Ralph handed me and Chad a beer. It was GOOD times. We were all friends...and it felt great! We began to walk towards the rest of the party.
As we entered the crowd, everyone looked our way. I was being welcomed with greetings of, "Johnny! Great to see you!" and "Johnny, you look great". I was on top of the world. Everyone had forgiven me for being such a douche to Daniel-son. I was greeted by everyone. All my old Cobra Kai buddies were there. Bobby, Tommy, and Jimmy. Even Martin Cove (Sensei John Kreese) and Randee Heller (Mrs. Larusso) were there.Sensei Kreesewelcomed me with a warm embrace. He had forgiven me for losing to Daniel-son. I saw everyone, but one person; the one person I needed to see the most.
Just then the DJ started playing this:
I turned around, and there she was. Looking asgorgeous as ever. Wearing a pink & blue striped bakini with a white sarong wrapped around her beautiful midsection.
"Hey stranger", Elisabeth Shue said to me.
"Hi", I replied. "You look amazing."
"It's nice to see you" said Elisabeth Shue.
"Listen, I'm a different guy now. I've changed", I told her.
"It seems like you have", Elisabeth Shue replied. "You don't seem like a dickhead anymore."
"I'm not a dickhead anymore. Why don't we get out of here and talk about things. I still love you", I told her.
"That sounds...nice", Elisabeth Shue said with a smile.
We walked away, hand in hand, with "Young Hearts" by Commuter playing in the background.
Johnny had been redeemed. Everyone clapped and cheered as we walked away from the party...even Ralph Macchio.
