all your dog pictures and stories make me miss my sweet dog, buster, so much...i had to leave him in georgia when i moved to canada. he's the only thing i miss about my life down there. he was a rescue dog who had been abused (by a man, judging by his fear of guys) who loved me and my son dearly. we had him for five years before we moved and were able to get him over a lot of his issues, but not to the point where i could bring him with me. we had 42 acres for him to roam, and we had just gotten him to the point where he'd come in the house for brief periods, but he was uneasy being inside (we assumed he'd been beaten at some point for coming in inside). so, a four-day car trip to canada and then living in a one-bedroom apartment just wouldn't have been a happy experience for him, not to mention that he hated the leash and went nuts when we put one on him. the people we sold the house to were very nice neighbors and my sister-in-law bought most of the land, so they were happy to have him stay on and continue to stand guard (he had a lot of akita in him with some lab or something thrown in - fiercely protective, but smart about it), but i sure do miss him still. not to mention worrying that he felt that we'd abandoned him ::sniff::

but we have two great cats (had three, but my 15 year-old male, osgood, that moved here with me got sick a few months back and we had to put him to sleep), and we're hoping to get a new kitten tomorrow. :0 if i ever figure out my digital camera and how to post pictures i'll post some.

sorry for the over-long post, but i just wanted to share the puppy love. :)

tres, feline pine litter works really well...have you tried that? it smells nice and natural, not that heavy perfumey smell most litters have.

baking soda in regular litter helps a bit, too...it neutralizes the acid in the pee or something.
