We spent the night in Forks recently as part of a vacation and kept seeing all these references to vampire shit. Finally we saw the books for sale in an Albertsons and then googled to check out the deal. Apparently this has brought an incredible number of tourists to this little former lumber town and after originally being thrown for a bit by the hoopla, they are now happy to find something to bring in money. Any business with Forks in the title is a big draw we discovered. We spent the night at the Forks Motel.

Edward is a creepy stalker and Bella is a melodramatic, hysterical freak. Before they hook up, he does creepy shit like break into her house just to watch her sleep - he also is always either obsessively overprotective and possessive or giving her the cold shoulder for her own good. When he leaves her for awhile for her own good, she mopes for almost an entire book and becomes almost catatonic from despair. Edward and the other vampires can go out during the daylight, but they don't or they SPARKLE in the sunlight and then the normal people will notice them - which means that some Italian vampires will then have to kill them for letting mortals in on the vamp secret. He is also described as being as hard-as-marble, with cold, hard lips - yummy, just what I'm looking for in a man. There is a bunch of mystical hooey about Native Americans and werewolves, too. I read them because everyone was gushing about them - I spent the entire time wanting to slap Bella upside the head. Basically, the books suck. Oh, and the movie people have managed to make Robert Pattison, aka Cedric Diggory, look like dogshit, even though Edward is supposed to be the most BEAUTIFUL MAN ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH.
