A big deal wasn't made about Marcus/GC getting the idols. It wasn't even mentioned again in either of the next two episodes.

I tithe my percent each week. What's ten percent of zero? Kitty, that's why the idols are a good dangling moment. Something may still come. Keep watching. Michael |

At this point, I'd lean toward Charlie being a distraction - he's the most visible player on Kota, and we get a ton of his confessionals, and yet the
most significant comments are reserved for Marcus. Clearly, the alliance is important or we wouldn't get it this soon. That said, I would tend to heavily
doubt it gets to dominate the game the whole way. There would be no tension and very little suspense. Instead, I see one of three scenarios:
1) The Onion Alliance loses a member early (probably Jacquie) and becomes the underdog group to an Ace led clique. They combine with some Fang holdovers to regain power after the merge, and the endgame focuses on whether the overthrown group can peel away the Fang members before it is too late. 2) The Onion Alliance does take control of Kota, but is overthrown at the merge as Ace joins with Fang members. The new grouping implodes after a boot or two, and a free for all ensues. 3) The Onion Alliance does take control of Kota but fractures due to internal pressures after the merge where outsiders are recruited to build new power bases. Charlie's best chance would be in the first of these. In the other two, I could well see him being one of the victims in a loss of power (maybe even the cause in the third scenario). |

I think over time, they'll want the audience to be happy when he gets voted out. I'm thinking along the lines of a more effeminate John Carroll, or possibly a Roger Sexton. |

Global Canada showed it the same as CBS.
Maybe try some Australians or Philapinos (sp?) Reading Michelle's interviews. my impression is that they could have made her OTTNN if they wanted, but the editors intention was to give her a fair shake to paint Fang negative. She is a combo of Nicole S7 and Timber Tina - not a tragic boot like Brooke or Misty that could have done really well with some luck. |

Note his first confessional is about strategy and how stupid it was for Crystal to pick Random Premerge Boot Woman. It set his tone; opening it with slightly snide, condesending, as opposed to Marcus' majestic.) If you are right, a nice analogy would be Katie giving it to Steph at the beginning of S10 fir jumping our of the boat too early. |

FLF, I've been doing Edgic at least as long as you so I don't appreciate the condescension. If I was directing it at you, it would have been addressed to you, TLS. I got sloppy and didn't list any specific name, so I deserve the rebuke. |

which ... in it's silence... speaks volumes! That is something I love to see. It may be 1 - a red herring 2 - something to arise soon 3 - something akin to the spirit stone or the Art of War, and reappear in the finale 4 - something only to do with GC or Marcus, and not both Keep it in memory and see where it may lead. Exactly. Rarely do things making no sense at the time fail to make sense later. Michael

Ken = CP | |||||||||||||||
|
I'm posting this one more time to make sure it is seen and considered prior to the final decision for Close Calls.
Ken: CP I strongly believe that Ken earned a CP for a variety of reasons. First of all, he got an opening confessional that introduced us to his character as #1 in the world as a professional video gamer and as a big-time strategist. He then said that he's very shy and in the game of Survivor, he's the underdog. To me, this is self-awareness of the game and it's definitely a more significant thought than just stating something obvious - it's insight. We next saw him in the scene with Michelle where he gave a confessional talking about the stereotypes associated with gamers as being a nerd, being antisocial and living in their basement. Again, I felt that this was supposed to help establish hsi character and contributed to him being well-developed. He then had the confessional saying he's very shy with the girls he likes back home. More character-development. If you think about it, we probably learned more about him than just about anyone in Episode 1. In addition to that character and personality development, he had the strategy scene with Michelle where he said that Gillian was the weakest member in everything; he knew that Michelle was on the outs in the tribe, and he said he'd rather keep Michelle because she'd be an ally with him. So I feel that he had a combination of character development AND strategy, which certainly elicits more than a MOR, in my opinion. |

"No two Adams in Eden..." | |||||||||||||||

This is an editing-related theory that I came up with that sortof relies on the idea of Marcus being the winner or in the Final Two/Three (which doesn't
seem too far off based on his edit so far).
I've been trying to think thematically about the episode and I think that Marcus' quote "No two Adams in Eden" could prove to be more significant than it appears. Obviously, it applied in the last episode about no romance between him and Charlie, but I think it might have a more thematic meaning. Marcus is likely going to be portrayed or seen as "Adam" throughout the season, so perhaps this quote is telling us that there won't be two men in the Final Two (assuming a Final Two). If so, one of Jacquie or Corinne is likely to become Marcus' "Eve" and could end up in the end with him. Since Jacquie already has an INV1 and Corinne's edit is way better in terms of Edgic and content, I might be inclined to predict Marcus/Corinne. Most of the other women's edits appear to be too poor to make it to the end. If there's a Final Three, it's more likely to be Marcus and two women or Charlie as third, and then Marcus/a woman as either winner or runner-up. Regardless, we can probably conclude that Marcus and Charlie won't both be first and second, but I still feel that, at this point, the people in the Onion Alliance are going to make up a lot of the endgame players either way. |

Lol gf. I'd already been convinced by your Ken post. I'd already written this:
Ken CP: I am convinced by the arguments that Ken tells us a lot about both himself and the game. Both in his opening confessional and scenes around Michelle. Randy CP: I think it's tempting to devalue Fang edits, because of the constant trashing they take from nearly everyone, including themselves. I certainly did so initially, with Ken. And I know a lot of posters think I did so with Crystal. In hour-2, Randy tells us about GC's situation and how he perceives his tribe's struggle to get their act together as a whole. Both hours 1&2 Randy has a role as more than a narrator. He sizes up the situation and is backed up with scenes that confirm his cynical view. He has his Hour 2 confessional in which he tells us his plan to lay low and let the tribe self-destruct. |

No, I remembered it. Your arguments are always well thought out.
I really like this idea too.: Marcus' quote "No two Adams in Eden" could prove to be more significant than it appears. The editors can be pretty loose with their themes, so this might not get to detailed or accurate with the Biblical Eden story, but there's also these angles to think about: Eve gives Adam the Forbidden Fruit, which cooks both their gooses, Garden-wise. (It would be cool if something tied in with James' "Don't eat the apple!" in both China and Micronesia.) The Serpent tempts Eve with the fruit. What is Charley if he isn't Adam? Would Corinne be Eve or the Serpent? Lots of fun stuff to get off-course with. |

FLF,Damn, looks like someone is jealous that their "edgic career" isn't much more successful than the newbies! Wasn't that rude of you TLS? Fighting is only allowed over edgic ratings; not power =) Crystal was shown as a hypocrite right off the bat. I disagree she was N but she lacked complete complexity with her lack of game-relevant confessionals after the first commercial break. She's getting airtime because she's an Olympian, not because she wins, which is why she's led a lot of useless story lies (ie Dan having the idol and getting the boot, when he ended up getting 0 votes). Crystal will not win. |

I agree. I think it suggested that either there will be only one man in the Final 2/3 (and he wins most likely) or only one of Charlie makes the Final 2/3.

I was actually thinking that quote meant one man at the end as well with at least one Eve.
As well all know, since All-Stars, a woman has never received more votes than a man at final Tribal. |
