Yeah, the hearts and flowers shit is fucking ridiculous. Dan's gameplay was so superior there are many aspects of it to cite and discuss. Leave the hearts for the shitty contestants and their low IQ fans. |

(that in itself is a huge accomplishment.) i thought it was a really good season mainly because of dan----seeing him find ways to get himself from one week to the next and miraculously win the game was fun for me. and it should quiet the people who denied the vital importance of playing to GET TO THE END, and then making your case in front of the jury. that's how he played it and he did it better than anyone ever has, IMO. |

I became a Dantard about midway through the season but I feared he'd end up disappointing me like all my favorites do eventually. He NEVER did. He was miles ahead of everyone playing the game and most of us who obsess about it from outside. I also thought his jury performance was the bee's knees. And you know, at the end of the day, I don't think the jury really did vote purely on strategy. I underestimated what a great job Dan did at building relationships with every single one of them no matter how nasty they got toward him in the game. So when he gave them a reasonable explanation for veto roulette (which he later admitted was total bullshit, but sounded reasonable and strategic to the jury), that was all the excuse they needed to forgive him for "mocking" them because they wanted to continue liking him. |

ETA: i agree with you completely. dan spent more time talking to people on a personal level---and not about himself but about THEM----than anyone else did. nobody hated dan. he gave them no reason to. even ollie had to vote for him in the end. i didn't know pepaw ended up voting for him too. was that on the show? i thought that old bastard would stick to his guns and throw memphis a vote. maybe he got 'forced into it' like he did week one when he fucked over brian.

I figured the old man's hate for Dan ran deep, but in his speech when he was placing the key, he said he was basing his decision on kindness - Renny also said in her speech that it was the little things that made the difference, the 'how are yous', Good Morning....etc.....and finished it off with "And that's why I'm voting for this person TONIGHT" (everyone laughed) so glad you came out of the hurricane with little damage - it always amazes me how some home are completely destroyed while others are left pretty much unscathed - so happy you are safe - I thought of you since you said you weren't evacuating..... The images of Galveston were horrendous. I have no words. |

After the show, Peepaw said Dan always made a point of saying good night to him. It's retarded, but that's peepaw. And it made the vote unanimous, so
whatever.
I think Dan would have won anyway, but the fact that it was unanimous was really pretty much Memphis' doing. He totally sunk himself with some of his jury answers (like still playing the "straight shooter" card when he had faux F2 deals with half the jury). |

Even Dan looked really glad she didn't ask him that question......in the end the better player won, D.U.N. |

i did get to see the finale---i missed her saying the vote was unanimous but i'm glad it was. but i have to say i think when anyone votes for who was
nicest to them, that's just fucking stupid.
pepaw and the shirts......there just are no words. maybe his FIRST clue should have been when memphis never once said another word to him about taking him to the finals after they made final 3. memphis barely talked to him at all. then his pathetic attempt at a bribe with his 'very expensive' shirts failed. when i put out some small brush fires around here, i'm going to work on my letter to pepaw. maybe i'll post it. |

it just speaks volumes about dan's game.
if they voted strategically the would have voted dan. if they voted personally they would have voted dan. even though he "mocked" them at the roulette game..he made up another lie which made sense to them and covered up his only mistake. he played the game from start to finish like no one else could. |

The way Dan dropped that lie to the jury also included a little inspired Memphis under-the-bus-throwing..."I knew Memphis wasn't going
to do anything in the game that wouldn't benefit him, so I made sure he'd want to take me to the final 2 by sending a couple of people
to the jury house hating me." He totally re-enforced the point that Renny made about Memphis only being out for himself - which is a ridiculous way of
looking at the game, but Dan knew his audience like no other.
