Dog lovers, if you get the National Geographic channel, you should check out the documentary "Dogtown" featuring the rehabilitation of the Michael
Vick dogs. Very inspirational...

The Sarah MacLachlan ads get me, too. I was prepared to cry for two hours, but I didn't. It was actually uplifting.

<3 Sarah. I saw the ad while I was on my lunch break in the break room and some old lady wiped a tear from her eye.

I want my main man Andrew to win but if I had to pick the Greatest American Dog out of the 3 left, I think it should really go to Galaxy. Andrew is well
trained but very laid back and too attached to Laurie. Presley is overly active and a bit too playful. Galaxy is a good combo of both. She can be calm and
obediant but she can slo be a risk taker and playful.
I don't see her as robotic at all. I see her as happy and with a really nice temperment. |

I guess my dog, or any dog like mine, would have no chance in that so-called loyalty challenge. My baby just LOVES people so much she'd go to anyone who'd look at her way. And she never, NEVER barks at strangers who come to our house either. Hope Andrew wins. (Probably never will, though.) |

I could handle any of the three remaining to win -- I was glad Teresa and Leroy were eliminated. I think each of the remaining pairs has pros and cons, and you could justify a winner in any one of them. |

On a side note, fuck Jade for her "This is not America's Next Top Best Friend" line. Now everyone uses that as a justification, everyone who uses "This isn't called Top Chef who one time cried because his dog died" or "This isn't called America's Got Talent unless you have a good sob story then you don't need talent". Quit trying to translate 3 words literally as your justification! |

So you think they should be ok with the owner smacking their dog and kicking their dog as long as they do what they want?
This whole show has been about owners and their dog. They got onto Bill for pushing Star in the maze, got onto Brandi for manhandling Beacon, the list goes on and on. Hell, look at the photo challenge, the dog could do whatever they wanted, but it wasn't like they said when to take the picture and which one. |

You said there was no criteria, so basically anything is acceptable. I never said anyone did, but you said they should only look at the behavior of the dogs.

Barking is a way for dogs to communicate, and in Leroy's case, I think Theresa created a problem when she yells at him to stop...he thinks she's answering him back. OG sofa wrote:^^^ total agreeance! Have you ever watch Victoria Stillwell's show on NGC? I have a few times, really wasn't that impressed, to be honest. Yes, she did help solve the problems in most, if not all the cases (it's a show about her training prowess, after all ;) ), but they were mostly issues caused by ignorant owners. She's also very standoff-ish during her sessions...I think the only time I saw her actually touching a dog was when she put a special collar on to walk a pulling dog....for about 10 steps, before handing it over to the owner. I'm told the finale is this week, the final three. I like all three dogs, but I'm rooting for JD & Galaxy. |

OG sofa wrote:I know what you mean, I stopped watching Animal Precinct years ago, and I do usually look away when the ASPCA ads come on, but DogTown's Michael Vicks Dogs program isn't "bad" -- they didn't focus very much on the dogs past life; all they showed were very very short b&w clips of two dogs fighting a few times. Most of the show is about how these dogs are learning to trust humans and be a dog, for the first time in their lives. You really should watch it, you won't regret it. |

I was expecting Theresa and Leroy to get booted before I saw the show. I'm sorta surprised that they've stayed this long. I think that Leroy is a
good, well trained dog, sort of in spite of Theresa. And I like her and all, so nothing personal, it's just her stress level is outta this world. For
example, when JD had Leroy for their time together, Leroy didn't bark at all and performed every command flawlessly. So, yeah, Theresa's really gotta
work on her own behavior.
Okay, I'm no big fan of JD, but neither do I think he's the devil incarnate with his training. Victoria is just over the top with the ridiculousness of her criticisms. Galaxy is lovin' her life, lady. She has fun with JD every single day and she gets to use her brain and be challenged every single day. That guy loves the hell outta that dog and Victoria's understanding of JD's "sit/stay" language and behavior was entirely off the mark. The other female judge sorta looked like she was biting her tongue off. Laurie and Andrew are impressive. Watching the tiny dog stay put in front of that elephant was just jaw dropping. That being said, when are we going to hear about how unhealthy it is for a dog to be so obsessed and devoted to its owner? I mean, he's OCD already. I like Travis and Presley (Presley way more than Travis), but I don't think they'll win. They shouldn't win. All that being said, I'm okay with any of these finalists winning. But Bill and Star were my favorite couple and I wish they were in the finals. |
