I grew up saying pop, now say soda or soft drink, most commonly the specific name for the soft drink I want. Snobbery about it is stupid.
Unless you say thoda watta. That is unacceptable.

I'm a Coke snob. And I generally like the people who say "pop" more than the people who say "soda". No question.

I say "pop".
They call Diet Coke "Coca Light" here tho. |

We had an intern at the paper who was from one of the flyover states, and a reporter from the sports desk had gotten her a Diet Coke. So she shouts
enthusiastically across the newsroom, "Let me know when you need a free pop sometime!"
The next day, she arrived to find her desk filled with cans of Diet Coke. |

huh. I usually call it by name, too. Coke, Pepsi, Fresca, whatever. Unless it's Minute Maid, then I just call it "orange." Or that Lipton tea. I
call it iced tea. A bunch of people around here call it "Brisk" which cracks me up. It's "Brisk Iced Tea," with BRISK being the
adjective to describle the ICED TEA. Heh.

The places I've lived -- Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis, Minneapolis -- it's always been pop. A "soda" has ice cream in it.
East Coasters seem to be the 'soda' people; Southerners are the 'coke' people. |

wtf is Hi-C?I used to love Hi-C in a juicebox. Slimer was my favorite. I wonder if they even make that kind anymore. Soda with ice cream in it is called a Coke Float or just Ice Cream Soda if you are not using Coca Cola. |

I don't know what is wackier.
People calling soda "pop" without feeling like rubes or that a thread about "pop" has over a hundred posts. I'm a big fan of "pop shots", though. |

I don't know what's funnier: that Kum & Go commercial or the fact that there is a store called 'Kum & Go'.

Coke. "Pop" seems to have worked its way down south a bit too though.

It's pop in Nevada, and a paper bag is a sack.
