I am a fan of the original as so many other people are. I remember watching it religiously when it was on and even going to one of those mall appereances with Luke, Ian, and Brian. I still watch the reruns on SOAPNET, but I stop around the end of the 1st year in college. Then it just becomes tragic. (only exception is when Dylan gets married and widowed in 24 hours)
This new cast is just blah, but at times so were the orignals when they started. I know that the majority of the orignal cast were way over the ages they played, but there was something real about them. Plus, when the parents were in the picture it was for something substantial.
This cast just seems so unrealistic as teenagers (and I know most are younger than the originals were when they started) and the new mom and dad almost seem like a joke.
Naomi is played by one of my favorite guilty pleasures from Nip/Tuck. She was so good at being horrible, so sexy, and yet somehow you cared about her. Now she looks old, tired, and her clothes and insanely bad. She looks like a mom most of the time and then suddenly she is wearing a denim get-up from Wet Seal.
I agree that Annie and Silver need a sandwich. Not cute to be that skinny.
Still, I will hold out hope that it gets better.
