Here's my analysis of Jerry. He's of a generation where men do men's work, and women care for the family at home, and that's how he likes it best. He's tried to bond with strong men his whole life, in the army at the age of 17, in his jobs since, in the VFW, the golf course, sports bars, etc. Women are labeled angels, whores, or bitches and not much in between. Women in his family are condescendingly patted on the head like children; they are baby, honey, sugar, darlin', but never worthy of the kind of respectful camraderie men in the family are given. Thus, male children are elevated in status as deserving special priveledges, because they're men, of course. They have pride and all, and Jerry is a team player who helps the men in his unit, whether army or family or VFW. More than anything, he wanted to become a leader in this game. He wanted to be revered as knowledgeable and worthy from his life experience that he wanted to share and share and share. Any alpha male would have been given his word--Brian and Memphis certainly. Ollie and Jessie were not really considered alpha men, due to their being whipped by women around them, April and Michelle. However, in his mind, a double cross is the worst thing a man can do, because his ego can't take being played. Thus, Brian had to go and Dan was targeted. He would have loved Memphis to reach out to him and bring him in the boys club, but he was outside looking in. Every time Memphis has been willing to reach out to him, he's jumped at the chance for redemption, let back on the team of leadership. If Memphis betrays him openly, Jerry will do everything in his power to get even. It will be worse than anything Dan has done, because Dan never promised him final 2. If Memphis votes him out, Jerry will never give him his vote in the end.
